2010 Unemployment Extension Benefits Bill And July 4th Celebrations

Although the 2010 unemployment extension benefits bill didn't pass, and the unemployment extension 2010 of benefits won't happen until at least when the Senate reconvenes after their holiday the unemployed should still try to celebrate Independence Day.

After all, it's unfortunate the bill didn't pass, but it's not a reason to let YOUR holiday be ruined.  It's hard to put your worries aside, but with a little thought and creativity you could possibly have the best Independence Celebration of your life. Here's a thought on how.

Gather all your unemployed friends together.  Have everyone bring a dish - this way you can have one big meal that didn't cost any one person a considerable amount of money.

Come armed with your laptops, air cards, cell phones, printers, paper, envelopes, and stamps,  Celebrate your right to freedom by bombarding your Senators with letters, emails, and voicemails about the unemployment extension.

Thank your lucky stars that you live in a country where you can do this without repercussions. There are some countries out there where you would be in big trouble for speaking your mind to a government official.  In America we have a right to think and a right to be ticked off.

After you are satisfied with the amount of mail you have produced for your representatives, spend the rest of the time helping each other apply for jobs. Help each other spruce up your resumes.

IF you really want to go all out, have everyone bring some of their career clothes that don't fit any more or that you are tired of.  Have a clothing swap to help each other get a new career wardrobe.

All this may sound silly to some, but without the unemployment benefits extension many people are at a loss on the Fourth of July weekend.  Use your anger, discontent, and other negative feelings and try to spin them into something positive.

Here are some inspirational July 4th quotes.

  13. Why don't we change role here. you take the position we are in, and give us your income. With our zero income and the unpay rent, bills, and no food, you try enjoying the holiday.
then we can take your income and ask you to be happy with the burden of unpaid bills, no food, no means of transportation.

They don't think we matter or will do anything to show how frustrated we are with them not finding a way to come up with some kind of compromise to help the people who need assistance before they left for their holday break. I'm sure they will find a way to extend the Bush tax for the very rich.

  21. I urge everyone here to stop making payments on anything that has to do with a bank.Keep what little money you have if any, for yourself. Im betting that the banks will start screaming at washington and something will get done immediately. Also if anybody has any money left in the stock market pull it out and dont pay any tax on it.Believe me this will get their attention. I will be posting this message anywhere on the web I can over this 4th holiday. Bless everyone

I am so tired of it ALL...I went to grocery store with my Mom, bcse, I had NO money to purchase anything and she was there for me, thanks Mom!!!!!...But, the stores were not as if it was a holiday weekend, and, not even a regular weekend of shopping. My point is, the unemployment monies goes right back into the economy. Can't wait until the Senate sees the effect that this domicile act has caused...Wait until the figures are out...repubs this is to hoping that you and your family sleep well at nights...Oh! and, happy 4th of july....MORONS...

  26. The politicians will never care about the unemployed for two reasons:

    1. they are not organized - just a bunch of individuals complaining from all over - no threat to the politicians career in Washington. You want action - get organized.

    2. You don't donate money to their election campaigns. Did you see how fast they threw money at their Wall Street friends? Washington is for sale to the highest bidders. Unfortunately, the unemployed can't afford to play this game.

  29. Hey Mr. President...Make it a law that prohibits companies from sending OUR jobs oversees and if they break the law...fine them (HUGELY) that way these monies can go back to the states for funding their economy and at the end of the day, we can KEEP OUR JOBS and wouldn't have to put up with the game playing on the Hill!!!Whatta you think, Sir!!!... Makes sense to me and the AMERICAN PEOPLE...

  31. What an article. I understand trying to stay positive, but now we're expected to spend our holiday doing what we've been doing everyday, which is applying for jobs and contacting people who don't care? Give me a break! Im going to make the best of it, but I refuse to let this consume my day. Maybe I can pimp my wife out so we can pay the rent and buy some hot dogs for the kids. So much for recovery, even if they pass this extension it's too late for some.

  33. This Sucks, I have looked for a job everywhere, from the 99 cent store to offices. I have a college degree and great experience but I still cannot find a job.
This was supposed to be my 1st extension, I received a letter saying I was approved but never received a check, after calling EDD I come to find everything is on hold until or if Senate passes the Unemployment Bill. I needed my check to pay rent and utilities, now I have to tell my landlord I do not have the rent oh and I do not know if I will have it. I do not know how I am going to pay any of my bills. I have a child to care for and don't know how to tell him we might not have anywhere to live within a month.

What makes this all worst is NO ONE CARES, the Senate is off on Vacation living it up, news is showing very little coverage of this potential catastrophe this will have on the American people, and then you have the IDIOTS who say just go get a job, stop relying on unemployment.
To all of you - TRY WALKING IN OUR SHOES, WE DID NOT QUIT OUR JOBS WE WERE LAYED OFF, WE WOULD ALL HAVE JOBS IF THERE WERE ANY OUT THERE. STOP BEING SO SELFISH AND THINK HOW IT MUST FEEL TO LIVE LIKE THIS, HOW IT MUST FEEL NOT TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF OUR FAMILIES, HOW IT MUST FEEL NOT TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THE MOST BASIC NECESSITIES FOR OUR CHILDREN, WHILE YOUR OUT CELEBRATING WITH YOUR FAMILIES, HAVING BBQ'S, ON VACATION THANK GOD YOU HAVE A JOB AND SHOW A LITTLE SYMPATHY TO THOSE WHO DON'T!!! AND REMEMBER THE REASON WE DO NOT HAVE JOBS IS NOT BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT ONE!
THIS ALL COMES DOWN TO BAD DECISIONS MADE BY THE LEADERS OF OUR COUNTRY, SO YES THEY SHOULD BAIL US OUT BY GIVING US UNEMPLOYMENT WHICH IS ONLY ENOUGH TO PAY THE BARE NECESSITIES!

To all of us that are going through this hardship together, be strong, I wish you all wealth and prosperity. Please know and remember "all is in flux, and there is no permanence," how do we cope with the world around us? Do we flee from it? Do we merely resign ourselves to the fleeting nature of life? Or do we challenge it? In fact, an appreciation of the constantly changing nature of all things is the key to happiness, for it means that no matter how bad a situation is, it will change. *No misfortune is permanent; no misfortune insurmountable.*
PEACE AND GOODWILL TO ALL OF YOU...

  35. Well my fellow americans. I am unemployed also, and I think it is time for action. Lets all go to the streets armed with our signs and our spray bottles and wiping instruments, and lets clean the windshields of cars that come along and then ask for a tip. Also wear your tee shirts, that say "unemployed Architect" or "unemployed Accountant" whatever you used to be. If we all do this then people that are employed will notice how many of us there are, then they will realize our country is no different than a 3rd world nation. We need to start begging because that is what our government has turned our working unemployed into, beggars.

For years Ive paid large amounts of taxes pay check after pay check, and without hesitation you've taken it. And now when its time for me to rely on the investment so to speak Ive made, to help my family you failed not only me, but so many others and our families as well. Then you have the nerve to suggest that this doesnt ruin our hoilday? Are you serious?

  51. What ever happened of Government of the people, by the people, and for the people? More like, government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. I personally processed millions of dollars in mortgage for Citi Group. Of course the government bailed them out and sent them billions. Though Citi group saw clear to eliminate hundreds of not thousands of us hard working Americans and sent our jobs to India. Now that we can't find a job our government in their infinite wisdom won't give us the same support that they have given one of the most unscrupulous financial institutions in history? The hypocrisy knows no bounds.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I saw all this coming 20 years ago, and I am just a plain ole average joe, when the US government decided to make the playing feild uneven and make America uncompetitive by sending all our jobs to China and Mexico ( by the way the first jobs to go were military contractors - ironic isn't it). I need my extension too, but I will say this, I will continue to need this extension for ever if we do not do something about the unfair trade policy and incentitives for companies to send jobs overseas. The greedy corportate bastards are finally feeling the effects, cause guess what.. we can buy your China-mart shit any more... when no American has a job who is gonna buy the all the crap they are making overseas? and by the way, most technological innovations are created right here. Then promptly shipped over seas so they can prosper.

I will do anything. I now have to deciede what belongings I can sell to buy gas to keep looking for jobs my rent is behind and everyday my apartment manager is threating to evict me, my lights are going to be shut off soon. If I have to I will walk to find a job. I am so upset I think I'm having a stroke and by the way my food has run out so I have to go to the soup kitchen to eat. Just yesterday my bible school teacher bought me personal care items to keep myself clean so I can continue to look for work. We are AMERICIANS and WE THE PEOPLE are hurting. 58. I think that this is all happening just the way government the puppets of big business planed. You flood the country with illegals who will work for near nothing, accuse regular american of not wanting jobs "they do the work that americans won't" bull. They know what is happening a guaranteed labor force, and as cheap as they can get it This country was built on free labor it made wealthy land owner even richer, if they can't get it for free they will take it for as cheap as they can get it. Big profits, bonuses, they don't see or care about average americans. Our life style has been forever changed. We will sit around and blame the illegals, but they were enticed to come here. You really think that the government can't control the borders better then they have, they have no reason to, not when these poor people will work for less than minimum wage, we will hate them, they hate us, we hate Arizona for trying to do the job that the federal gov., is suppose to do. We will turn on one another while they sleep with out care or worry. They know exactly whats going on. They have changed our life style and we can't do a damn thing about it. or can we? Revolution... 64. To the person considering suicide...don't do it. They will pass this measure but in their own lazy ass time. Also I felt like you do about 3 days ago. I got a job two days ago. Don't give up. To Jose Chavez...things may appear that way to you, but only because you are not in our shoes. I have never in my life experienced such difficulty in getting a job. This is not a normal unemployment situation. Believe me, if it WERE, congress would NEVER have extended the unemployment in the first place. They extended it because they KNEW how scarce jobs are. So there but for the grace of GOD go you, Mr. Chavez. I think most people who get on these blogs and bash the unemployed do so because THEY are out of work but were contract labor, therefore, eligible for nothing and begrudging everyone else of benefits.

  65. Friends, I'm with you, but please - watch those comments about snipers and bloodshed. This is the age of that most unpatriotic of acts, the ironically named Patriot Act, and Big Bro would like nothing better than to have an excuse to hunt you down and destroy you a little more by depriving you of what little civil liberty you still enjoy.

The absurdity of pretending to care about the national deficit while waging concocted, needless wars, when jobless benefits add only a nominal amount, and when the rate of unemployment is so high as to warrant emergency spending outside the pay as you go rules, is too willful in its callous disregard to be legitimate.

Let us face the obvious: we do not have a representative democracy, and we barely have a constitutional republic. Our country has been infiltrated and compromised. The globalists and the international banking cartel, which is older than our beautiful, bountiful country, have been planning this for a long time. America is being destroyed by design.

Please, become as self-sufficient as you can. Convert to a plant-based diet and homeopathic healthcare as much as possible. Reinforce your community by focusing on cooperation instead of competition, and trading goods and services. Start small investment clubs so you can establish local credit without banks. If you use banks, choose regional institutions, not huge multinational ones. Help your brother, and take extra care not to rage on your sister. When you see someone breaking down or acting up, step in with a heart of patience and remind them of their humanity. Restore dignity to the downtrodden. Defend your own personal sovereignty by not caving in to stress.

While we still have the Internet, learn as much as you can about the hidden power structure in this world and who really calls the shots. The public face of government is merely a front. A small clutch of evil beings orchestrate and laugh at our suffering. It's a source of energy for them, as they have no lifeforce or creativity of their own. Challenge the mindset and assumptions that pop culture programs into us. We are far more powerful than these few soulless entities can ever hope to be, but their level of depravity and lack of conscience enables them to commit criminal deeds and work nefarious schemes on us of a kind that most would never wish on even our worst enemy.

Even Scripture has been tampered with, yet kernels of truth persist. We have all been royally had. But take heart, the truth vibrations are coming, indeed they can't be stopped, and the truth shall set us all free. So don't fall for the distractions. Stay connected to something outside this world, keep enough free space inside to let peace enter and remain, spend time in nature and with animals - the only fellow earthlings that never lie. Even when we try to stay pure, our minds are too vulnerable to the ways of the wicked to be uncontaminated. Animals do not suffer this manipulation, so they help return us to our natural state. Get rid of the background noise so you can hear the wisdom of the small voice within. Don't be fixated on maintining an image of yourself. Find a new normal that is sustainable. Let's be careful not to make it a tug of war between us all, or we'll never win. You get that end, I'll get this end, and let's lift this thing up. War is a racket (quote: Gen. Smedley Butler). War is not the answer. Love conquers all.

Blessings to everyone. And yes, God, please bless America so she can get back to the business of blessing everyone else around this magnificent planet.

    Thank you for your time.

I'm requesting anyone who can to organize in your area. Please bring a can of soup to the rally (and extra for those who can not afford one). Afterwards we can donate those cans to a food pantry or hand them out to the most in need at the rally.

Please rally at State Capitals, City Halls or designated area for your location. We must make our numbers known to the Senate on the first day back in session after their 4th of July.

  70. Do you think God will bless America after seeing how our country lives? How our political leaders cheat on their wives, steal, lie etc? Our country is in big trouble. They have done everything to take God out of this country. If you can tell I have given up hope for our country. Maybe its not worth fighting for anymore.

  71. I have to agree with all of you, I have done job interviews and they ask how come you have such a laps between employment? I explain that I have been looking for work and have no luck and then they look at you like you have a disease. The health plan is a joke I know have to pay 803.00 a month for health insurance because I had cancer and other health problems the health bill is a big joke. I was ok until while I had my cobra but that is over and know I'm without insurance and if my health problems come back I guess I will have to let nature take it course. I'm so sick of ever one of them saying that none of us would take a job that is lower than our unemployment that is a joke there is one job for 700 applications, I would like them hit the job search and see what they would do. They make sure that they got a cost of living raise and didn't give it to the people on social security. They make sure they give themselves a raise every year maybe they should take a cut and that is both Republicans and Democrats put them in a bag and shake them up and what do you get is more bullshit...

McCain and the Keading 5, Deconcini made 12 million on insider trading, Charlie Rangle, the list goes on and on. All the cheating, lieing, stealing. How do thses people remain in office. We are the dumbshits for allowing them to stay in office. When are we going to revolt. They are giving power back to the IRS with the health care bill and I am worried sick. These people will not give us a second thought until they come back from vaction. If they do its to laugh at all us dumbasses that continue to vote them in. They don't listen to us. They really do think we are stupid people. I am so sick of them. "I yield the floor to the gentleman from Iowa' Non of these people are gentlemen. They are crooks and con men.

    Sha la la la la

Don't feast on the fear brothers & sisters, and don't give in to the rage. Righteous indignation yes, but not blind rage. The bad guys are itching to use that riot gear and stock up them FEMA camps (sure coulda used some of THAT dough to feed or better yet employ the unemployed! The freeloading illegals are unwitting pawns in the scam. Govt healthcare is deathcare, and they made it so they can tax you for it AND throw you in jail if you dont buy it. Smell the (bubonic) rat yet? Resist it like your life depends on it. It does.

Oh yeah, they're gearing up for WW3 because they need to waste us off and traumatized and confuse us again before too many of us connect the dots.

And there's a miles long bubble of methane gas around that crack in the ocean floor they keep calling an 'oil spill'. Ain't no spill, it's a leak, a volcano of oil. Abiotic oil, not fossil fuel. Dinosaurs never lived or died or ended up 25,000 feet below the sea bed. No such thing as 'peak oil'. Oil is itself a renewable resource, but combustion engines were old news at least 100 years ago. And it's not about wind farms or green gas either. Physics and technology are way beyond what they let us know. Carbon footprints are hogwash, cap and trade is a scheme developed by Ken Lay of Enron--need I say more? Global warming initiatives are not about healing our badly beaten earth, they're just a way to tax, monitor and control us.

Let us pray while they prey. Start vibing peace, inside and out. Revolution of the mind time.

Happy Independence Day... Washington's spirit be with us now!

  81. To all of you who have posted a comment. May I suggest to each of you... "repent" ask God for forgiveness and invite Him into your hearts to rule and reign over your life. He is still in control and cares about the things which concerns you. Pray for the leaders of this country to include the senate. I too was dissapointed when the bill was not passed because that left me with zero income in my house. I firmly believe that God will supply all of your (our) needs. He loves us so much and cares about the things which concerns us. He is waiting on us to come before Him in a spirit of humility and a heart of repentance, acknowledging Him as Lord of all and King of kings, forgiving those who have made decisions that have affected our finances. I promise you God will move on our behalf and turn the hearts of senate(s). May the peace of God comfort your hearts.

Honoring Him as King of kings and Lord of Lords.

  82. I have never received unemployment before until this year and with out it i would have lost my home and my only means of transportation. I know that Republicans don't want to pass the bill but then again these are the same people that don't have to worry about money or live pay check to pay check, they have been fortunate to never have to have that terrible feeling of what am i going to do when i do not have anymore money to pay my bills. That feeling of failure and hopelessness that nobody out there cares. I invite these people to my home so they can explain to my family why they wont help us. But of course they will not come, they are probably in there homes celebrating with out a care in the world thinking of another way to prevent the bill from passing. While people like us are sitting at home hoping someone out there will grow a heart a give us a lending hand. How can we celebrate a day of freedom when we are not free?

I am a proud us veteran and I always thought my country would be there for me but now I am shocked at what has happened to this country. I am actually slipping into a big depression and I am a normal happy person who always has done the right things in life. The government does not have any idea what it is like in the real world. I hope someday they experience the pain that we are going through.

  85. I worked for a 90+ year company that was bought out by a foreign bank. They with their greed destroyed it in 7 years. 6,4000 people were eliminated. Problem is employers are having 1 person doing 3 jobs in most places. American jobs are now in India and elsewhere. Check out stores nothing is made here anymore. Someone sold the USA out a long time ago. How can other countries come here and own us now. That is the reason for all of this mess. We are borrowing from China? We owe them millions! We have our lazy elected officials that all make over 150K a year (and get that $ the rest of their lives even when out of office) just playing us. Promises on their campaigns that never happen. The reason is WE PUT UP WITH IT. Our society is so passive on everything anymore. Never in my life after working 31 years did I think I would lose my job. 8 more years til retirement and here I am unemployed. Job qualifications want all this high tech computer skills which my job didn't provide. Min wage jobs give you 15-20 hours work with no medical. Ya right what am I now back in high school at 50 years old. Happy 4th & Shame on your House and Senators your bull heads are killing your citizens who elected you.

We moved closer to family so we wouldn't be homeless and we are still trying to find employment that will pay bills. Sure we found minimum wage jobs, but these jobs have not been paying enough to pay bills. My Mother has to help us. Now the IRS is threating to take us to court because they think we deliberately under reported income. Oh and in the past 2 years my daughters have each lost jobs. My husband and I are like Zombies, we don't feel anything anymore. Life sucks right now.

  88. My son is out of work and has been for 18 months. He's lost his car, apartment and his oldest daughter said she won't talk to him until he has a job because of the way his ex's people are talking about him behind his back. "He should be out digging ditches" or picking up cans", they say. I have him signed up on every job site on line and for the state we live in and he and I search, email and fax apps for every job he or I thinks he can do. Even some he doesn't. Out of all these job listings, I haven't seen one that wants ditch diggers. So there you bloody self righteous numskulls. Send him a place asking for workers and he will be there.. It still astounds me how stupid people are when it's not them in the situation. I write my representatives and senators to get up off there asses and make sure the people don't suffer because of their negligence and they send me brochures to vote for them. You've got to be f'ing kidding me. I will work doubly hard this summer to get the representative(s) and senator(s) for my district, removed from office this next go around.

  89. ORRRR...We could bombard the Presidential office with requests that he call the Senate back into session. Because he can't tell them how to vote, but he sure as heck and destroy their holiday.

THE CONSTITUTION SAYS THE PRESIDENT CAN CALL THE CONGRESS BACK INTO EMERGENCY/EXTRODINARY SESSION.

Obama may have said he can't but guess what? There is precident.

Truman called back his "Do Nothing 80th Congress" because of their infighting stopping them from passing important social legislation.

FDR called back his congress to vote in the "NEW DEAL"

2 million people out of work and funds = emergency

Senators on vacation = non emergency

    CALL THEM BACK IN!

  90. I do not like America anymore, we give millions to other countries, but we will not help our own...Both Democrats and Republicans should be ashamed because you cannot tell me that no compromise can be reached when there is so many people who need help right now who have children to feed...this is a emergency, the senators do not even care about the deficit, it is all about having control over people's lives and political gain.

  93. I am not unemployed. I know those who are, and that has ruined any celebration today for me. Not only are people at a loss for what to do, I sense that some people are taking their anger about the economy, frustrations about politics, ect, OUT ON THE UNEMPLOYED. People who can't get a job are thrown in with those who don't want to work. Like if you don't have a job...you are scum. It makes me sick to see vets, people who worked and payed taxes for decades going crazy trying to get a job, unable to sleep. I'd have a nervous breakdown if I
were in their shoes. I guess some think everyone out of work has rich relatives to move in with. It's time for Washington to quit the blame game, and stop turning Americans against each other. Sorry to say the old strategy of divide and conquer works. Both parties got us into the mess we are in, they need to work together to get us out ...if they care about us more than their own power.

  98. To the dip shit that thinks we should ask Venezuela for help. You are a commie fucktard and should kill yourself.
To everyone else I feel your pain, and also am waiting for the government to pass the extension.
I say we put pressure on the democrats to use the left over money from the stimulus bill to pay for the extension so the republicans will vote yes. I don't care where the money comes from really, but the republicans are not going vote yes until unless the democrats agree to use these funds.
I am not a republican or a democrat. I just think this solution makes the most sense. Fact is the republicans feel they are in a better position politically, while the democrats are more likely to give in under pressure.
This is just my opinion and I don't side with either party. Just want the damn extension passed.
