Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy Vote 2010 and Cloture, Filibuster Updates

The 2010 Don't Ask Don't Tell policy vote was brought to the floor on Tuesday, and the Senate did not have enough votes to avoid a GOP filibuster of the legislation. Don't Ask Don't Tell and the DREAM Act were two highly controversial items that were buried in the Defense Spending Bill.

The GOP is not against repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell. In fact, many agree it's the right thing to do. However, the measure is buried inside a huge bill, and the Republicans want a chance to review the bill, propose amendments, and discuss and debate before it goes to a vote.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine indicated her stance on the matter, and basically she said she's for repealing Bill Clinton's 1993 executive order. However, in good faith she can't just sign off on a bill when she doesn't think a fair, unbiased bipartisanship was followed.

Don't Ask Don't Tell doesn't allow gays to serve openly in the military.

  1. I pledge allegiance to the fags
In the United States of America.
And to the republicans, I take this stand:
One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

  2. Hal somehow seems... antiquated, no?

  3. The Real “American Dream Act” Bill & Counter Attack

First bring back our soldiers from this Afghanistan war that is costly and going nowhere. Middle Eastern and Asians love to see us waste money and go broke fighting for freedom when they don’t really want it. This is their main weapon and we keep falling into their trap. Then we need to regroup military troops and military force to invade/overthrow Mexico’s government turning it into a U.S territory.
The new land will be used as an industrial/business commerce zone. U.S citizens will be able to by property and have a dual citizenship between U.S and Mexico. Mexico will keep its current currency and there current government will be demoted to local municipal law enforcement as long as they surrender to the U.S.
The U.S will be in full control of all laws, local law enforcement, and military control. The path to dual citizenship will require the illegal immigrants living in the U.S to serve in the U.S military for teen years… Along with completing the invasion/overthrow of Mexican government to expand U.S lands, business, and revive our economy. For Mexico citizen requesting to come to the U.S temporary worker programs and legal paths to citizenship & residence will be granted to those who qualify.

    Pass It On!!!

  4. If you have never worn a uniform, nor faught overseas than you have no right to say if it is right or wrong to repeal the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. We are all equal. And ANYONE who makes the decision to serve this country, should be allowed to love who ever one falls in love with and not make them hide who one is. We sacrifice enough when we decide to serve our country and can't be open. But we make the sacrifices because we want to serve our country.
