Pakistan Flooding 2010 - Angelina Jolie Asks for Aid

The Pakistan Flooding in 2010 is arguably one of this year's tragedies.  Over 20 million people have been affected by the unnatural flooding, which has left 20% (one-fifth) the country underwater.

Of course when you think of Pakistan you think of the desert and mountainous regions.  However, now there is devastating flooding which has wiped out towns, and entire communities.

Millions of people are at an increased risk of disease due to the flooding. Angelina Jolie is quoted as saying 'This is not just a humanitarian crisis; it is an economic and social catastrophe. UNHCR is on the ground. The more support we can give, the greater number of tents, food, clean water and medicine will get to the people in need.'

Entertainment Tonight reports that Jolie has given $100,000 of her own money to help with the cause.

The UNHCR, of which Jolie is an Ambassador, has raised its target fund for Pakistan flooding relief from $41 million to $100 million last week.
