Hungary toxic sludge creates fears. IN Hungary, toxic red sludge that is the byproduct of making aluminum has broken free from a reservoir and could unleash an environmental catastrophe that would affect several Eastern European nations.The toxic sludge will burn your skin on contact, and already there have been at least 4 deaths attributed to it. Experts fear that it will infiltrate drinking water supplies, hurting not only people and crops but also the ecosystem in general.
A criminal investigation has been opened up to determine the cause of the toxic spill. The reservoir had been inspected and no irregularities were found.
