Many of the same arguments against the legalization of marijuana were present back during the days of prohibition when alcohol was outlawed. The legalization of marijuana will take something from the black market, make it legitimate, open up possibilities for economies and also a tax base for various state and local governments.
Of course, marijuana will remain illegal in the federal government's eyes. How this impacts the state's decision to legalize marijuana has yet to be seen.
