Larry King Replacement - Piers Morgan Americas Got Talent

Larry King's replacement could be Piers Morgan of America's Got Talent. Larry King Noted that he wouldn't know Piers Morgan if he were walking down the street, but reality TV show buffs know that Simon Cowell's great buddy is a Brit with an attitude. Piers Morgan may not be the most conventional decision, but he's one that could bode well for the network.

CNN needs to increase ratings. Ryan Seacrest and Katie Couric were two names thrown around in the rumor mills regarding taking over Larry King's time slot on the news network. They could have increased the ratings better than Piers Morgan according to some views, but we think that Morgan is a befitting choice.

The America's Got Talent judge isn't afraid to say what's on his mind and is very candid. He was the winner of a cycle of Celebrity Apprentice and showcased that he does what it takes to get the job done. Controversial interviews won't intimidate him and he won't be afraid to ask the questions that are on everyone's mind.

As of late, there's not an official announcement from CNN regarding Larry King's replacement. However, according to Forbes the rumor indicates the most likely candidate.

It will be hard to truly replace Larry King. He's a big name in the world of broadcasting and he's been in the same time slot for decades. Many venture to say that CNN won't be the same without him. He will, however, still have quarterly specials on the network. One also has to wonder that given his tenure, how long King will stay away from the network.

Larry King Retiring, Leaving CNN Show

Larry King is leaving CNN. Larry King's retirement comes at a time where his personal life was under a great deal of scrutiny, after his eighth wife filed for divorce after King allegedly had an affair with her sister. The couple have since reconciled.

In addition, ratings of Larry King Live have dropped over 40% in the most recent year. This coupled with his age and tumultuous personal life place him in a situation where he feels it best to retire.

Larry King Live holds a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the show that has been on the same station and at the same time slot for the longest period of time. The show has been running for some 25 years.

Larry King is 77, and isn't leaving the CNN network all together. Larry King will be featured in quarterly specials on the popular news station.

It's uncertain who will replace Larry King. One thing is for certain, no one will truly replace him. He's had a great run. One of the most memorable interviews I have ever seen on a news talk show was on Larry King Live. It was when Carrie Prejean went off on Larry, calling him "inappropriate."

Of course, there are likely far more memorable interviews from far more impressive people than Carrie Prejean - but that's the one that sticks in my mind the most.

Larry King will be missed, although his retirement and departure from Larry King Live will be understood by his fans.
