CA's Proposition 19 Results Dictate A Loss [PROP19]. People of California have spoken, and proposition 19 did not pass. California's proposition would have legalized marijuana throughout the state of California. Given that pretty much every race in this fabulous state had at least some national importance, nothing was as controversial as Prop 19. Supporters are quick to point out that the proposition would bring in funding to a state which needs it more than anyone. However, one weakness is that localities - not the state in general - was responsible for setting the tax rates. This opens up the possibility of price wars.
In addition, Prop 19 opponents are quick to point out that unlike breathalyzer tests, there's no easy way to determine if someone is under the influence of marijuana. However, urine tests do detect the drug in someone's system - but for a long time. Proving that someone was smoking weed, high, or something at work or during an accident would be hard to prove.
There are a lot of things to work out before weed becomes legal. For now, California's prop 19 has failed. What are your thoughts?
