New York Primary Election Results 2010; Joseph DioGuardi GOP Nomination

The New York Primary election results 2010 brought Joseph DioGuardi the GOP nomination for the November election. The three way race was between  Bruce Blakeman, a former Long Island local lawmaker, and David Malpass, a former Bear Stearns chief economist.

And yes, Joseph DioGuardi is related to the former American Idol judge...he's her father.  I cannot help but wonder if that played any role in a lot of people, particularly young people, voting for him just out of having heard the name before?

Still yet, the true battle comes in November, when many analysts seem to think that many democratic incumbents will be voted out of their office.

DioGuardi is seeking to unseat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

In another senate seat race, Jay Townsend seeks to unseat Charles Schumer, another incumbent Senator. Schumer has a chance to keep his seat, I think because he has vocally supported a Tier 5 unemployment benefit extension. Many incumbents are suffering because voters think that they are more concerned with an agenda, rather than the issues facing them.

These mid-term elections are going to be pivotal.  Be sure that you go out and vote during not only the New York primaries, but also during subsequent elections.
