BP Oil Spill Live Feed 2010 Amid Hurricane Fears

The BP oil spill live feed is something that many are following in the wake of the BP oil spill.  Now, with  a broken LMRP package, there is now a storm activity brewing in the area, and many fear how it could affect the spill.

The live feed showcases the ocean floor where the spill is taking place.  For the past 67 days or so, black crude oil is just pouring in to the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. This is why the market value of the company has fallen some $100 billion in a little over two months.

So far, BP has paid over $2 billion in claims, not including the $20 billion escrow fund required by the US Government. The oil spill continues to be a major issue for the company as they try to figure out how to stop the spill and clean it up, amid hurricane season.

The weather poses a unique threat to the BP containment operations.  The ships collecting the oil on the surface of the ocean have to be given a five day warning in order to safely evacuate the area before a storm rolls in.  This will involve the use of computer modeling and making judgement calls.  One wrong call could either end in tragedy or waste precious time collecting oil.

  1. why can't the engineers lower a concrete block similar to the one used in Holland to keep the sea at bay.Four walls no top and bottom lower it to encase the leak, once in place engineers work out the force of the leaking oil and what weight of quick setting cement is needed to counter the force of the leak then lower quick setting cement to block the leaking oil.

  2. OK--why not have a contest and whoever's idea is worth trying gets a certain amount and whoever's actually works, gets a patent and a substantial reward? We have brilliant minds who, given the motivation and opportunity, could solve this mess.

  5. Doesn't the military have equipment to help out, such as nuclear sub that could transport heavy eqipment to the oil spill, also why can't everyone work as a team use every tool around the world that may be very usefull to plug up the spill more quicker use every resources we have help get the job done.

  11. I agree that great minds should come together on this issue, and that there must be some sort of solution to this massive issue before hurricans move the oil into the wetlands. It's so sad to think of the wildlife and ecosystems suffering from the tremendous amount of oil being released into the ocean. For the everyday citizen who thinks they have no power, rather than merely contemplating the actions that should be taken by the company and governments, we need to raise a great shout to our compassionate and loving God, and cry out to Him, plead to Him to stop the oil flow. Obviously man made solutions have yet to work, so rather than feel helpless and hopeless, lets leave it in the hands of the creater, and raise our voices in a prayer of thanksgiving for the oceans and beautiful wildlife provided by our Lord, and also beg Him to display, once again His almighty power to the world by stopping this oil leak!
