99er, Tier 5 Unemployment Extension: 99ers Desire Benefits Bill

The 99er Tier 5 unemployment extension is desired by the 99ers who have exhausted all the jobless benefits available to them. Congress is going on Summer Recess in two days and there are many who are very upset that no legislation has been brought on to the floor.

Senator Debbie Stabenow has said "I wish that the bill we passed helped those who have been looking for work the longest – the so-called "99ers." I'm working on a bill to help them because, when there are five people out of work for every one job opening, it's the right thing to do." We are still waiting for Stabenow's bill that she claims she's working on.

Senator Chuck Schumer from New York is also one who has claimed to be for the 99ers, yet has done very little to sponsor a Tier 5 extension bill.  He has said "There are a number of people who have maxed out, they've been looking and looking for work but haven't found it, and there is a separate act that would extend those benefits to them,. Extending this was really important. There are some people who go beyond the 99 weeks and we're gonna try to do that next." Oh really, Mr, Schumer. When exactly do you plan on doing that?

In short, there are only two more days - one if you don't count today since it's half gone - before the Senate breaks for recess. After then, a Tier 5 bill won't be brought up for at least a few weeks.  Then, we will be getting close to the mid-term election, and it's questionable if such legislation will be brought up before the election.

  1. This is crap, our Government are lairs and cheaters, they play us for fools!! They say we are broke, they make the tier 1-4 wait for months for a rightly extension. They haven't approve a justly tier 5 because again they say we are so in debt, then 3 days after extending the unemployment extension they approve a 59 BILLION!!! emergency spending bill, the bulk of which would go to Afghan troop buildup.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtU78drnTX8 This is a joke. What happened to Obama 'bring the troops home' promise.!!SIGN MY PETITIONS 'VOTE OUT THE REPUBLICANS IN NOVEMBER'!!http://humanrights.change.org/petitions/view/vote_out_the_republicans_in_november and Obama must also go!!

  4. What about the ones who have already exhausted their benefits? I've been told numerous times by the Unemployment agency that I will not benefit from this extension that just went through I'm a single mother of three looking for a job day in and day out and as of yet having found anything... Congress needs to get in there and fight for a tier 5 so that our benefits will help us for a few months to come...

  6. Still waiting here in Nevada....No jobs, no gas to look for jobs, people living in their cars, getting denied food stamps because there is money pending in unemployment. Tier 5 would be nice, but can we get our money first from the HR4213....nope not yet, still waiting on a letter? How much postage is wasted on letters? That could be money for tier 5

  7. As of July 31st, we are still waiting here in Florida too. The lines are constantly busy and then it cuts you off. No letters, No Status, No Checks, No Wage Transcripts. When i finally spoke to someone she stated they havent figured things out yet. What is there to figure out? They have known about this for Months and Months and they are just now trying to figure things out. I cant understand how this Government plans to keep running like it is? I bet the White House Lights are still on while the rest sit in the dark. Mr. President you can Thank the lovely Taxpayers for keeping your lights and Air on. Let me know if you need any pens to sign anymore Billion Dollars Afgan Troop Funds. As if Americans are not in a Dire Straights EMERGENCY NOW! Are you waiting for the USA to Colapse? Dont worry it wont affect me anymore as 5 million other americans including myself are already going thru it. You and your Family will soon see.

  8. Texans - FYI as of 08/03/2010 8:33 am finally got a live body to talk to! There is a step that must be taken by those who have never entered into any of the tiers! Please call in and be prepared to keep calling and stay on hold - chose the option "5" to ask questions and wait through muzak, etc. When Rep comes on line request to apply for the extension. Retroactive payments will be made if you continued to request payments after the initial claim was exhausted to you by the method you were receiving payment before.

Those who had already began a Tier and were cut off will not need to do anything it will be automatically done for you according to the REP.

I never received the letter that many of you mention and she asked me about it and I said I had not, the two questions asked were as you guys have noted above. She later said a letter will be mailed out which is just a formality stating amount of claim benefit. She also states that August 4th is the date they were given for payments to begin distribution. Hope this helps, but above all else - this is a temporary hardship and your loved ones want you around for the good times, because they do come back again! Be strong and courageous, and don't give up now! God has not forgotten about you! He cares!!!

  9. Texan,
Can't you do what you suggested on line? My son gets on Texas Workforce Commission web site. I think we are being misled about the unemployment rate here in TX. Gotta be 10%
I also think people had better learn to speak Spanish, or move to another state. (not AZ) Things are really bad here, jobwise. Know a guy with a degree is mowing yards to put food on the table, it's like this is the twilight zone.I would say no whar but Texas, but I know we aren't the only state really hurting.
I went shopping today. Kohls. Nice store. I looked to see where the clothes I got were made. China, Pakistan, Jordan, Viet Nam. I've bought things that said made in Cambodia. One blouse I got today said made in the USA. Wanted to kiss it.
