Alaska Primary Election 2010 Results Are Unclear: Could Abortion Stance cost Murkowski the Nomination?

In Alaska , incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski is involved in a primary race that still is too close to call, despite votes being cast on Tuesday. The Republican is being challenged by Joe Miller, and some anti-abortion activists say thatMurkowski’s stance on the issue could have cost her thousands of desperately needed votes.

The issue could be Ballot Measure #2, which is a controversial potential law that would make it necessary for a parent to be notified if their child was going to have an abortion in the state.

While campaigning, Miller told his supporters to vote “Yes on Ballot Measure 2” before voting for him. He also added that the measure was more important than the Senate race.

Many Republicans gave to the campaign for the measure. Murkowski did not, which leads many to believe that she’s against the measure. She could also be for the measure, but hoping that her silence over the issue would gain her some liberal voters. Such antics are not popular with voters.

Murkowski believes that an abortion is a decision between a woman and her doctor, although she opposes federally funded abortions and late term abortions.

The race is still too close to call, but right now it appears as if Miller is going to win.

Well, every private citizen is entitled to her opinion. Looks like Murkowski is going to be one.

  3. Lisa's stance on abortion is viewed from a woman's point of view. Joe miller's view is from someone that will never have to worry about being raped and have to bear a child from such an experience.

Things would be interesting if male penis enhancement were a political issue and women could determine if men could enlarge their tiny peckers or not.

Men have no right to any opinion regarding abortion, right or wrong.

  4. God settle the issue in 2 ways, namely, THOU SHALL NOT KILL and Jeremiah 1:5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
