Bomb Sniffing Rats: African Land Mine Epidemic Solution?

Bomb sniffing rats? Sounds like a cartoon, doesn't it? Well, it's not - so-called "bomb sniffing rats" can actually smell land mines, and befriending these critters could actually save your life.

Of course, many people don't believe in this sort of things.  Rats have a bad reputation, but these HeroRats can be trained, starting at four weeks of age.

With the right training, the critter can save your life - scurrying around, identifying land mines and helping you to avoid them.

Landmines are a significant problem in Africa.  In fact, one accident from a forgotten device could render acres of land useless, as people are fearful to be around it.

The answer could lay in these bomb sniffing rats.  However, ever since rats got the blame for the Bubonic plague, people have been scared of them.

Would you ever train up a bomb sniffing rat?
