Bethany Storro Acid Attack Hoax and Racism

Bethany Storro's acid attack hoax sent the general public on guard for an African American woman with her hair pulled back. In the end, Bethany Storry's acid attack was nothing more than just some sick ploy for attention - a hoax so to speak. While she might think that no one was harmed as a result of her lies and deceit, that's not exactly the case.

There's one woman in particular that actually went into hiding the week that the composite sketch was released because of the shocking similarities between her and the sketch. When she would go out, she would feel people staring at her.

Storro claims that, at 7 pm, she was out and some woman came up to her and said "hey pretty lady want something to drink" and then proceeded to throw the contents of a cup in her face. In the end, this really didn't happen like that and for some reason the injuries were self-inflicted.

Bethany Storro's use of an African American perpetrator indicates a hint of racism in the mind of many media sources and also in the minds of African Americans.

Copycat Acid Attack after Bethany Storro Burned by Acid?

Bethany Storro's acid attack was a heinous crime. Luckily, Storro, 28, was not blinded by the acid that was thrown in her face by an unknown African-American woman in her 20's. Why not? She had just purchased a pair of sunglasses hours before the attack - and her family and friends note that she never wears sunglasses.

Storro believes that the hand of God is on her.  She is trying to remain positive, but would like to ask her attacker what inspired them to do the attack.

Believe it or not, there was a second similar attack in Mesa, Arizona.  Derri Velarde, a 41 year old mother of five was getting in her car when a woman splashed what she thought was water in her face.

Her face and arms sustained burns.

Experts say that these crimes are hatred to the highest degree.  Acid attacks are more popular in the Middle East, but it's usually a man-against-woman crime.  Men will throw acid in the face of female relatives if they feel they have been embarrassed by them.

Both the recent attacks were women throwing acid on women.

Let's just hope that this doesn't start happening everywhere.
