Barbara Boxer Victory Speech. Barbara Boxer got the sweet taste of victory yesterday. She defeated Carly Fiorina, the GOP former female executive of HP. Although Fiorina was favored by early polls, Boxer narrowed the lead in the weeks leading up to the election.

Illness on the part of Fiorina in the last week of the election didn't help her case.

Barbara Boxer won, and during her victory speech she noted that this has been the toughest campaign in her career. Barbara Boxer is 69 years old.

This was a close race, and it could have gone either way. In addition to Fiorina, Meg Whitman the former eBay frontwoman also lost her bid for the California governor's seat.

Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi are two high-profiled incumbents that will make a return to Washington for another term.

The 2010 California Senate race between Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina is one of the highest profile races during the mid-term elections. Part of the reason that the state race is gaining so much attention is because Carly Fiorina used to be the CEO of HP.

So this year is California's executive woman "takeover" year, with Meg Whitman, the former CEO of eBay running for Governor.

Despite the high-profiled nature of the election, one thing will be missing from the 2010 Senate race, and that's an endorsement from the San Francisco Chronicle.

Why not? Well, it's not because they can't decide because the candidates are so good - it's because the paper claims that Barbara Boxer has had an uninspiring tenure in the Senate, and then Carly Fiorina has passion, but the editorial thinks her policies undermine the country.

Carly Fiorina: Barbara Boxer Hair is "So Yesterday"

Carly Fiornia and Barbara Boxer are undergoing a debate last night for the Senate race. Now, the funny thing about this race (besides the fact that Republican Carly Fiorina is the former CEO of Hewlett Packard) is that Fiorina has gotten all catty and has been quoted as saying that Boxer's hair is "so yesterday."

I'm not so sure that Carly has actually seen the Senators that represent the country.  It's hardly a beauty contest out there in Washington. 

Still yet, the cattiness and the press that it gets reminds us that we always tend to search for drama in everything - from reality shows to Senate races.

The race between Fiorina and Boxer is one that everyone is keeping an eye on.  Already several Senators have lost primary races as people are getting frustrated with incumbents.

Prop8 Ruling: Carly Fiorina, Barbara Boxer Disagree with Vaughn Walker’s decision

The Prop8 ruling has catalyzed the core of the gay rights movement. In California , judge Vaughn Walker overturned the voter-approved measure which banned gay marriage in the state.  San Francisco with the support of gay couples challenged the law, and successfully got it overturned.

An appeal has been filed, and we expect that the issue will make it all the way to the US Supreme Court before all is said and done.

The Senate Race in California is already setting up a debate, with Republican hopeful and former HP CEO Carly Fiorina stating that she’s against the judges ruling, citing that voters in California spoke their desires.  Barbara Boxer disagrees with her opponent, and cites that it’s an important step towards equal rights.

Diane Feinstein, another Senator from California who is not up for re-election right now is also supportive of the recent ruling.

While many are against the ruling, many are for it as well.  Gay rights is our modern-day civil rights movement, and it will be interesting to see how this case impacts the rest of the country
