Lady Gaga, Katy Perry Get 5 MTV Europe Award Nominations Despite Meat Dress, Racy Sesame Street Video

Lady Gaga an Katy Perry both scored 5 MTV Europe awards despite the meat dress and the racy Sesame Street cameo scandal. Lady Gaga showed up to the MTV VMA's in Los Angeles wearing a meat dress...an actual dress made of raw beef (a video/photo are here).

Katy Perry recently found out that her appearance on Sesame Street will be canceled. The video below was the leaked segment, which was set to air on New Year's Eve. Parents saw the clip online and maintain that the dress that the singer was wearing was "too racy" for TV, and as such got her kicked off the show.

Lady Gaga's meat dress was a political statement in "Don't Ask Don't Tell" as the singer claims if you don't stick up for what you believe in, you only have as much rights as the meat on your bones.

The nominations at this year's European award show is dominated by American artists, such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Eminem, Rihanna, Usher, and more.

Lady Gaga Meat Dress and Outfit For Anti "Don't Ask Don't Tell" May Not Help Repeal (VIDEO)

Lady Gaga's meat dress and outfit was a statement to repeal "Don't Ask Don't Tell." However effective Lady Gaga's meat dress was with creating headlines, it doesn't look like it affected the vote to repeal the controversial military law, which prohibits gays and lesbians from serving in the armed services.

Lady Gaga wore a dress made of prime cuts of raw meat while accepting various awards at the 2010 Video Music Awards.

Gaga didn't get the buzz and hype surrounding the dress, and says "What's Everyone's Problem with my meat dress?"

Um. It's not cooked, and it's raw meat which usually goes rancid after a few hours...

She goes on to say that "Next Time I will Wear a Tofu Dress and the soy milk police will come after me."

Still yet, the reason for wearing the dress - to discuss her views on Don't Ask Don't Tell - appears to have worked, as it got everyone talking. It even got her invited to a DATD rally in Maine.

A video of Lady Gaga discussing the meat dress can be found here.

Lady Gaga Attending Anti-Don't Ask Don't Tell Rally in Maine (DADT)

Lady Gaga is attending an Anti- "Don't Ask Don't Tell" rally in Maine, and the announcement is made about a week after she graced the Video Music Awards wearing a raw meat dress, which was meant as a statement against the controversial military policy signed into law via an Executive Order by Bill Clinton in 1993.

A video of Gaga explaining her dress to lesbian talk show host Ellen Degeneres can be found here.

The DADT policy prohibits gays from serving in uniform. Officers are not allowed to inquire as to what someone's sexual orientation is, but troops aren't allowed to come out and say they are gay, either.

Harry Reid is filing for a cloture on a measure that would pass the Defense Spending Bill, and the bill also includes language that would repeal the 1993 law. The Senate Majority Leader still lacks the 60 votes he needs to obtain a cloture, but it's still a good start.

Lady Gaga stands up for what she believes in. She's non-judgmental and pretty much "anything goes" with the self-proclaimed "shock artist."

Lady Gaga will be in Maine at the Anti Don't Ask Don't Tell rally later on today.

Lady Gaga Meat Dress And A "Don't Ask Don't Tell" Controversy (VIDEO)

Lady Gaga's meat dress at the VMA's was a protest against the military's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. The meat dress was actually made of raw cuts of beef from the designers family butcher - and actually held up quite well considering it was uncooked meat.

Still yet, what everyone wanted to know is "why?" (Shouldn't "it's Lady Gaga" suffice as the explanation? Obviously not, but...whatever)

As you can see in the video below, the controversial shock artist claims that the meat dress was a direct protest of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy

She says that if we don't start sticking up for what we believe in, we will only have as much rights as the meat on our bones - and that she's no piece of meat.

What do you think about the Lady Gaga meat dress? Did it have any connection to "Don't Ask Don't Tell"that you could see?
