Former Vice President Dick Cheney has been hospitalized because of heart problems. He has had five heart attacks since the age of 37, the most recent one taking place in February 2010. It is not made known to the public what caused the most recent problem.
This time, Cheney went to the hospital complaining of discomfort. Given his history, it comes as little surprise that he was hospitalized and further tests performed. It's better to be safe than sorry.
During the Bush Administration, Cheney's health was always something that was somewhat of a concern. There are many who worried that if something were to happen to Bush, how Cheney's health would have affected him as a president. Luckily, nothing ever happened to Bush and that was never an issue.
Cheney smoked heavily between the ages of 17 and 37 - his age when he had his first heart attack. If you are concerned about a healthy heart and are a smoker, you should quit as soon as possible.
In addition to quitting smoking, there are other things you can do to help live a healthy lifestyle. For instance, you can eat a low fat, high fiber diet. Exercising three or more times per week will also help you stay healthy and strong.
Heart disease is something to take very seriously. If you ever experience discomfort in your chest and you have no idea what it could be, don't ever hesitate to head to the doctors office or an emergency room. Like with Cheney, it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your heart.
