Alaska Senate Race 2010: AK's Election Goes to Ballot Counting

Alaska Senate Race 2010: AK's Election Goes to Ballot Counting. The 2010 Alaska Senate race continues as the ballots for the write in candidates must be examined and counted.  Lisa Murkowski, the GOP incumbent, lost during the primaries but still ran during the general election as a write-in candidate after not running as an independent.

If the write-in candidate ballots aren't mainly for Lisa Murkowski, there's a chance that the Tea Party backed Joe Miller will head to the Senate. However, that's not for certain yet.  Still yet, many are banking on a Murkowski victory.

The Alaska Senate race could get very ugly.  The election commission must look over each ballot which voted for a write-in candidate and determine if it is indeed Murkowski who was voted for.  The laws claim that the name must be written correctly, but the law has been interpreted as the "intent" of the voter - which is subjective.

All eyes will be on the Alaska Senate race for some time.  What are your thoughts? Are you hoping Murkowski will be victorious?

  1. Murkowski is a thief and a liar and if she is even close in this election its because fraud has been committed ...murkowski is a crooked oil rep and a slippery POS

  2. That lady's one poor loser! The problem with politicians is that the majority really don't have a way to make a living and find it very profitable to be in office! I sure hope Lisa Murkowski loses the elections! Go home lady and give someone else a chance to do something to Alaska!

  3. Lisa Murkowski beat Sarah Palin when Sarah didn't think she could. I can only imagine the hurt in the Palin family right now. It's all smiles in front of the camera but everybody knows the real truth. I've been there myself when your nemesis gives you a good ass-spanking. But it will make Sarah a better person in the long run. It happens to us all at sometime or another.

  4. It may make Sarah a better person, although I'm not sure about that, but it could definitely hurt her political future to some degree. Have you ever heard the word credibility! That certainly can't help there when you have pie on your face!

I think this shows the importance of the primary election process - if GOP voters turned out in full, the election would be decided. AK needs seasoned representatives to bring the money home - Go Lisa!!

  6. The only thing certain is Lisa Murkowski's political future. She will definitely be in Washington for some time now. That is the only certain thing I know. The rest is strictly conjecture.

  7. I like that..."Seasoned representative". When Lisa and Sarah were entitled to Senator and Vice Presidential Nominee respectively at one time by the two "Johns", I'm sure they were both rather raw. But time begets experience. They just took different paths in the political world.

  8. Lisa Murkowski is representing Alaska.
Joe Miller is representing the Tea party from
    other states.

I choose Lisa but it is only the voters choice
    that counts.

If she wins the write-in, she DESERVES to win
the senate seat as that is no easy feat for
Alaskan voters to write in her name.

  9. You people are all brain dead. Lisa lost the primary and should have lceared the way for the winner. She is a sore loser and I will NEVER send any money to the RNC who backed her to the hild and ignored Joe Miller. I will send to indivual candidates that are not dicated to me by Karl Rove etc............get your heads out or your rears America, we nearly went down the flusher this time, and need to do more in 2012, much more/

  12. Lisa Murkowski is a bridge to debt and destruction. Joe Miller is a bridge to liberty.

  13. Joe miller is crazy in a bad way. He wants to murder Alaska by driving out all the jobs and money. If Joe makes it, then we'll lose our 4 military bases so I really hope Lisa stays.

  14. Wow - I am really impressed by the level of "tea-bagger" discourse. And to think those fools in Delaware failed to elect Christine!!!!! They needed real Americans to vote, not those namby-pamby, Starbucks-drinking liberals!!!!!

  15. As an Alaskan voter I really hope Lisa wins because she has proven herself. Joe Miller is a face that will be operated by the tea party. Also Miller does some under hand things like taking sick leave and canceling his doctors appointments. All in all I just don't trust Miller, and just to let people know I didn't support Lisa when she first came into office but I changed my mind as soon as Miller ran against her. Go Lisa!! Because it is about Alaska not which party you belong to or if they support you as long as the people support and trust you. And Pailin might have hurt Miller more than helped, some people don't really like how she quit her job as govoner.
