Election Day 2010 Preview: November 2 is here, and it's time to do our civic duty. The 2010 Election Day preview shows us several key election day things to watch. Here is a brief run down of some of the most pivotal races in the nation, and keep in mind that this is by no means an indication of the "most important" races or by any means exhaustive. A record 37 gubernatorial races are underway in the country. Perhaps the most widely watched race is that between Meg Whitman vs Jerry Brown. The race is very close, although Meg Whitman is still very positive that she will win.
Some of the most widely watched Senate races include:
Carly Fiorina vs Barbara Boxer: Boxer leads Fiorina in the polls. Boxer is the Democratic incumbent, and she could fall victim to a strong anti-incumbent sentiment.
Colorado Senate race between Michael Bennet and Ken Buck: This is the most expensive Senate race, spending $30 million in outside funding. Buck leads Bennet, which will be a major victory for the GOP.
Washington Senate Race - This is a pivotal race, although one of the hardest to call because the Washington elections are mail-in only.
Alaska Senate Race: Joe Miller was endorsed by Sarah Palin, and he's having a hard time winning the traditional GOP state. If he fails at his attempt to land in the Senate it could say something about Sarah Palin's influence.
West Virginia: Raese vs Manchin is a key race as well, which will replace Senator Byrd's seat which was vacated when he died this summer.
Ballot measures that are important in today's election include Prop 19, the legalization of marijuana in California. Also Prop 23 which would all but repeal California's AB 32 or their state version of the cap-and-trade bill.
