Glenn Beck is one "shock jock" that you either love, or you hate. His most recent controversy came out when it was reported that he called NFL pro football star Brian Urlacher a Nazi. The news is shocking, and comes days after rumors that Glenn Beck is going blind surfaced on the Internet.Of course, Beck calling Urlacher isn't the only time that a talk show host has called someone notable a racially charged name. Rush Limbaugh recently called the late owner of the Yankees, George Steinbrenner, a "cracker" who has made a lot of African Americans rich.
Beck's claims are far more urgent, as Urlacher is alive and well. He called the NFL star a Nazi when showed a bunch of pictures from "The Blackest White People We Know" list featured on theroot.com. Beck issued an apology, noting that he's not a sports star and didn't recognize the picture of Brian Urlacher as one of an athlete. He claims that he made the judgment call based on the man's short hair that ended up being offensive.
Would it make it right on Beck's part to call anyone a Nazi - even if they are a regular guy on the street? Racially charged accusations come with a cost. In addition, they tear up the very fibers of the American way of life. With all the back-and-forth between the Tea Party movement and the NAACP, this wasn't the best time to call someone, anyone a Nazi.
