Indonesia Volcano Eruption 2010

Indonesia Volcano Eruption 2010. The Indonesia Volcano Eruption 2010 has happened again, and it's the worst eruption yet. Indonesia has been torn apart not only by a 10 foot tall tsunami, but two volcano eruptions as well.

The Volcano Eruption 2010 has displaced some 47,000 people, who have fled the area. The death toll is over 400 for the tsunami and first eruption, and the missing toll has dropped down below 200.

As this event is unfolding as we speak, it's possible that the death toll will grow. This is the type of activity that areas in the "Pacific Rim of Fire" are used to experiencing. Between volcanoes and earthquakes, the area in the Pacific ocean is rife for natural disasters.

We will keep you informed of the details as they unfold in Indonesia because of the 2010 Volcano eruption.

Indonesia Tsunami 2010: Casualties, Damage, Death Toll

Indonesia Tsunami 2010: Casualties, Damage, Death Toll The tsunami from Indonesia has wreaked massive devastation. In addition to the tsunami, the volcano eruption has also caused another element of destruction in that particular Pacific Rim nation.

The tsunami was caused by an offshore earthquake. The tsunami was 10 foot (3m) high, and hit about the same region that had been impacted by another tidal wave not too long ago.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the death toll has reached over 441, while the Christian Science Monitor reports that a baby has been found alive.

There are still hundreds missing, and thousands displaced. Those missing are feared washed out in to the sea.

There is a video below which updates the status of the casualties, damage, and death toll experienced by the Indonesia tsunami 2010.

Indonesia Tsunami 2010 Aftermath

Indonesia's tsunami 2010 aftermath is devastating. Hundreds are left dead, injured, and thousands are left homeless in what has become the worst natural disaster since the Haiti and Chile Earthquakes and the Pakistan flooding.

An off-shore earthquake spawned a 10 foot tall tsunami, which crashed onto the shores of Indonesia. Many that are still missing are feared to be swept to sea.

In the aftermath of this disaster, homelessness, disease, and more will run rampant. In addition to the deadly tsunami, there was also a volcano eruption in the same island country.

The aftermath of the Indonesia tsunami 2010 is mass devastation. You can watch video coverage of the disaster below:

Undersea Volcano in Indonesia Discovered by Scientists

An undersea volcano has been discovered in Indonesia by a team of American and Indonesian scientists. The undersea volcano in Indonesia is taller than all but three or four mountains in the island country and is a major discovery and breakthrough.

The team of scientists were studying the underwater ecosystem in the area when the discovery was made using sonars and robotic submarines. The entire team of scientists were very excited about the discovery as it will help them understand the marine ecosystem much, much better.

The lead scientist, an American named Jim Holden, said the following of the discovery:

"This is a huge undersea volcano, taller than all but three or four mountains in Indonesia. The more we understand these undersea features and the communities of life they support, the better we can manage and protect the ocean and its resources."

The study, which wraps up on August 14, 2010, has already mapped out an area on the sea floor about the size of the state of Delaware.

The name of the underwater volcano is Kawai Barat, and is located between the Indonesian islands and the Philippines. This breakthrough could help scientists understand the area better. An eruption of the volcano could cause earthquakes or tsunamis and knowing about its presence is a good thing.

Not everyone involved in the study was aboard the ship which mapped out the undersea volcano. Some researchers were logged in via satellite connections in Jakarta, Indonesia and Seattle, Washington.

Undersea Volcano Found in Indonesia

An undersea volcano has been discovered in Indonesia.  Such discoveries are always a breakthrough.  The underwater volcano is said to be larger than two or three mountains found in the country.  It is 10,000 feet above the sea floor, but still remains hidden from sight.

American and Indonesian scientists were studying ecosystems using robots and radar when the discovery was made. This undersea volcano is larger than all but three or four mountains that are found in the Island community.

These types of findings are always welcomed, and are very exciting.  The more that people can understand about marine ecosystems, the better we can preserve the oceans and the world. It will also be an exciting thing for all the researchers involved in the discovery - after all, how often are these types of discoveries made?

Given all the seismic activity during the current year, scientists will need to keep an eye on the underwater volcano.  If it goes off, it could spawn tsunamis or even earthquakes.

The Chief US Scientist, Jim Holden said the following of the research: "This is a huge undersea volcano, taller than all but three or four mountains in Indonesia.  The more we understand these undersea features and the communities of life they support, the better we can manage and protect the ocean and its resources."
