2010 Unemployment Extension 57-42, Bill Blocked Again in Senate

The 2010 unemployment extension failed in the Senate, the unemployment extension 2010 was blocked 57-42 and could be thrown out. The unemployed still have hope, as an executive order signed by the President could offer hope for an extension of benefits. Still yet, almost a million are without benefits.

The toll has been felt all over the country, especially in the states hardest hit by the lackluster job market.

The vote about the 2010 unemployment extension amounted to every Republican in the Senate voting the measure down, as woes over deficit spending are on the forefront of their agenda.

There are some mixed reports over whether or not the President can extend benefits via an executive order. One Senator's office claims that Congress must be among those to extend benefits.

Now, it's not only the so-called 99ers that are without a lifeline - it is also those who have gone 26 weeks unemployed. The tiers 1-4 that were previously available are no longer available, as they expired on June 2nd and the bill that would have extended the benefits until November 2010 is the bill that was voted down.

Democrats wanted to pay for the measure via tax hikes on investment fund managers, oil companies, and S-corporations. Republicans wanted to fund the measure with unused stimulus plan funds. A way to pay for the benefits was never agreed upon by politicians.

The stories of those who are unemployed are heart wrenching. There are many who have multiple children, college tuition, and mortgages to pay.  The effects of unemployment are far reaching and is one of the most important current political topics today.

  2. Unemployed people cannot work if they cannot find jobs. How can we keep our houses, pay our bills and eat? Lets stop the paychecks of the republicans that voted against helping us.

  3. Pathetic, that our country is playing politics with American lives!! Pathetic and I blame the people of the United States of America...we are the one's that vote these people in, and WE DO NOT HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!!! So thank you American Public.....lets continue to play party-politics!! While our nation suffers!!

  5. this bill needs to be passed for sure, i have done everything, even deliver 70 phone books for 70 dollars. i mean the food banks are running out of food too. i have sold everything worth any money just to be able to have gas to apply for jobs. i mean i can not even feed my child. something has to be done. it so unfair, to people that have worked all their life an when their are no jobs that will hire you unless you have more education or are younger. i mean it is just crazy,

  9. This is the scariest time of my life. My husband cannot find work and I cannot make enough to support our family. How do they keep sending money overseas and not help people here in America.. We've lived in our house over 20 years and the mortgage company isn't helping and now the senate has turned their backs on us.

  12. This bill needs to pass soon. Ordinary, middle-class people are seriously hurting, especially those with young children. If it comes down to separating the unemployment benefits from the original bill and pay for them with unused stimulus money in order for at least that part to go through, then both parties need to come to agreement and do that immediately. This is a national emergency, and not a game of politics. PEOPLE ARE DESPERATELY IN NEED OF THIS!

Welafare for 2 is only 280 .00 enough for gas and few personal items . My misssion is to get the ?$&@&$ republicans out .. I am embarressed to have ever been one .. The proof is here and now .. 14. The people in this country did not ask to loose their jobs. They can help people in foreign countries but when it comes to the American people the Republicans don't seem to care that we need it to feed our familes, pay the mortgage and bills. I worked for 30 years and never drew unemployment until now when I was laid off due to lack of work. It's not our fault we were laid off. I wonder how they sleep knowing how they are treating the unemployed.

  16. I felt bad for the 99ers weeks and weeks with nothing! Now I feel bad for the 26ers like me! And to all those that have jobs...look out! the cuts in state budgets are estimated to cause tens of thousands more. When I lost my job of 14 years due to the fault of crooked senators and their criminal deals selling jobs to other countries. I was sent for training and on the last day instantly ineligable for UI benefits

  17. Ok so we can bail out the the big car companies, send money to other foreign countries, but we cannot help our own? What's wrong with this picture?

  24. Unemployment rate is higher now than it was when the extensions were for 99 weeks... I no longer vote for either party. TOTAL DISGRACE!!! This country is really a joke anymore...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can't believe this is happening. I worked two jobs for years and lost them both within a month of each other. I drew unemployment for 26 weeks. My last check came a week after the extension deadline. I had no idea that extensions had an expiration date. I thought help would be there when I needed it. I'm worried sick. My rent is due next week and I've no money coming in! I've written to senators and to major news websites (for not covering this issue). My message to Harry Reid was to not give up but it sounds like that is exactly what is being done. I keep reading that the bill is going to be "pulled" and that the Senate is going to "move on to other issues". I think it's over. I pray that's not the case. Please step in Mr. President. Millions are about to be homeless!!! Everyone pray that Congress will try again tomorrow to come to an agreement.

  27. The republicans literally would rather see the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. When your precious corporations start losing money due to people being unemployed and unable to buy products, let's see how fast your heartless souls say yes to unemployment extensions. How many millions of unemployed americans will it take to change your mind? You're worried about deficit? How about using your thick heads to master up a job creation plan, since you're so damn smart. Representing the people huh? You're representing yourself and your lifestyle, THATS IT!

  38. America, welcome to the beginning of the next DEPRESSION! Our recession was NEVER over. Those who said it was LIED! Now the unemployed, who most were unemployed THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN, will be sleeping on the street. 16 million Americans, most with families, will be setting up tents and making homeless camps while the Republicans sit high on the hog. Well, there will be more voters this year, and many who will be voting will be coming from the streets to the polls and voting out everybody who shot down the bill. Sen. John Ensign of Nevada (the state with the HIGHEST unemployment rate in America which is currently 14%) will not be in office come November. The rest of them (including the democrats who sided with the republicans) will also be out of offfice. Too bad it won't be in time to save those who are about to be, and are already, on the streets.

I have children and have not payment for this month's rent. Smart Republicans, instead of just unemplotyed they will be a rise in suicide, robberies and homeless people. Not to mention that they are starving the American People. People joined together and get their names call them everyday those well off, lazy Republicans who probably came from money and prestige and do not give a damn about the American People, unless they have the same. I've been unemployed for 18 months, see what being a war vet gets you, not a damm thing, except piss poor medical care. Where the Dr's rotate every 6 months and they wont replace your knee till your 50 years old. 42. I wish the democrats weren't so determined to bail out every big business that helped them get elected instead of helping us, the American people. We don't want to go into more debt! We just want Congress to use the stimulus money to do what they said it was intended to do - stimulate the economy. Or was that a lie? If the democrats would have agreed to the republican bill that was submitted on June 17, the one where we would have gotten unemployment benefits, and they would have been paid for, none of us would be feeling so abandoned and desperate right now. I am actually glad the republicans are standing strong, it takes a lot of guts - but I also wish all the congressional schoolchildren would get along and work this out. We need unemployment benefits, and that is what most of the republicans have said all along. They just want to pay for it with money that has been allocated to stimulate the economy - which means they want us to spend it - and we would definitely do that with our unemployment benefits! We need food and shelter, but we don't want our country to go bankrupt over it. We need unemployment benefits now, and we need jobs so we won't ever be in this situation again!!!!

I am sure no one in our government will read this as they are busy with their families and their paychecks .but as an umemployed "former" republican ,I have one question since most of us will begin loosing our homes, and our personal items as well as spouses, since its proven it does no good to pay in to unemployment, and taxes I think the best option is to refuse payment of these programs if and when we ever get work , and even if it would resort to prison time at least we would be treated as human beings as prisoners instead of just the deadbeat unemployed .I for one cannot wait for election time ... and the deadbeats they are in washington.....

    Where: Washington DC Mall
    When: July 2rd –
Time: You will be notified of an exact time to converge on the mall. Please do not do so before this time.
What to Bring: Tent, water, lawn chair, talents and skills list, notepads, pens, clothes, pillows, deodorant
Why: To put a face on the unemployed and for our very survival.

Without assistance we will lose our homes. Without assistance we will not be able to feed ourselves nor our families. Without assistance we will no longer be able to continue our job search. The time has come to stop begging for help but instead to demand it. It is not our fault we lost our jobs nor is it our fault that we cannot find new ones.

It is time to unite as one and put a face on the unemployed. It is time to unite as one and show our leaders that we will not just die off quietly and alone. If we are to die, we will die together for the world to see.

My brothers and sisters, within our ranks there is a collective talent unlike the world has ever known. Within our ranks there is a will to live and pursue happiness. We must unite, while we are still able, if we are to have a chance.

On July 2rd, gather your belongings and join us on the national mall in Washington DC. Bring tents and plenty of water because there we will stay until our leaders start to have compassion for the people of this great nation. Please bring with you a list of your talents and skills as well as a copy of your resume. The lists will be used to organize our collective abilities – the resumes will be used as fuel for a bonfire.

Together we can forge our own futures and mold our own destinies. Together we can and will form the greatest resource this world has ever known and our first headquarters will be located on the mall in DC.

Our government will witness, on their front lawn, our collective suffering as well as our will to survive. Our tents will symbolize the loss of our homes. Our bonfire of resumes will symbolize the lack of jobs. We will be fed and if we are not, we will die of hunger together for the world to see.

If by July 2rd our government has failed to show us compassion, unemployment assistance will not be enough. We will also demand housing, office space and grant money to fund our movement. We will create our own jobs if none exist. Make no mistake, no one will go hungry and no one will leave until they have either created their own job or found one elsewhere. Together we can and will define our own futures while putting a face on the unemployed.

Now you must help spread the word of this event anyway you can. We must unite if we are to survive and the time to do it is NOW! Individuals are needed to help lead this movement. Send an email to lols01@aol.com to become one of those leaders.

Our ranks will surely grow as time goes on but initially we must be strong in numbers for this to work. The first ones on the mall will be the ones that make the biggest difference as well as the ones this nation will never forget. Email me at lols01@aol.com and let me know that you are willing to answer the call and be one of the first. Please provide your first name and a cell phone number if you have one.

The fireworks will begin early this year in DC if our leaders fail to act!

What were they doing when their party went to war and increased the deficit? What happened to the budget surplus befor GB took over? Are they willing to take a pay cut to bring down the deficit? Can they forego their salaries for even a month???

  61. Dear Senator DeMint:

You have taken the liberty of slamming my email with requests for financial donations and volunteer activism to help elect individuals who you believe will help get our country back on the right track.

You continue to vote against the federal extension of unemployment benefits, yet there are MILLIONS of us who are unemployed and/or underemployed. I have yet to read about how you have helped to create private sector jobs for American workers and I can only conclude that you believe that the unemployed are no longer worthy of receiving unemployment benefits, but should nonetheless, continue to support individuals like yourself, who are completely out-of-touch with what is transpiring in the job market.

How very convenient for you to blast out emails and ask for donations when you do not have to worry about age discrimination, whether or not you will have a job tomorrow, if you will be able to continue to feed family, if you will be able to pay for medical expenses, will you be able to continue to take your medications, and/or where you might be living within the next few days. I find your actions to be nothing short of obtuse.

I do however concur with your assessment that something needs to be done regarding our Representatives who blatantly refuse to exercise their fiduciary responsibilities to the American people; an arrogance that runs rampant throughout this Congress and does not discriminate between Party lines. An arrogance that is ripe with pungency.

I will be taking action on your behalf by educating and reminding my fellow Americans, 912ers, and Tea Party Patriots about your most recent vote to deny millions of American workers their unemployment benefits while you continue to do nothing to help secure sustainable private sector jobs for Americans.

The everyday American citizen is struggling through one of the worst economic times since the Great Depression, but you have made it clear that you are indifferent to our plight. What you have taught me is that you are no different than the majority of members who make up our Congress. Your views of the candidates that you are supporting no longer carry any weight with me.

  63. I believe I have finally procured a job thank God but I wholeheartedly support this legislation for those still looking. This is money that is pumped right back into our local economy and job growth is still tepid. If things pick up more, yeah I'd say this should be the last extension of deadlines. But pass this one. My goodness where were all the deficit hawks when we blew 1 trillion on the Iraq War?

Started school & found out that I cant collect, not even ABT due to bill not passing. What I'm upset about & I have to put the blame on someone even though I'm gonna get some backlash, is the people that have been collecting for more than a year. One bad apple spoils the bunch & that's what happen so now people like me who are in school, trying to better myself & not just looking to take advantage of the government, has to pay.

YOU WILL BE VOTED OUT AND LOOKING FOR A JOB SOON. I have worked hard all my life, for many years at TWO jobs. I have paid UI all my life. I have applied for every damned job posting I can find. Can't even get my foot in the door. This is not welfare, arrogant republicans, this is unemployment we are entitled to. Get ready, you pompous highnesses. What goes around comes around. Karma will get you. And believe me, there's a lot of bad energy coming your way. Just read these posts and multiply them by millions!!!!!! That's the sentiment coming your way...

  69. I agree with everyone who will never vote for a Republican again! Thanks to them, I have lost my unemployment like so many others. They would probably pass the bill if it involved saving a tree or sending money to another country, but they don't want to help the very people who voted them into office! Who in the h#$l do they think they are? I can't make it to the Whitehouse thing this weekend, but I truly hope MANY of you do!! HOW DARE THEY TREAT US LIKE THAT??!!!!!!! May God have mercy on their souls and also on the rest of us! I pray Obama signs something and goes over their heads!

fuck you! I have sent out over 200, thats right 200 resumes without one fucking phone call! Shut the fuck up and go back to your cushy job you still have. Are you a fucking Republican?! If so, fuck off!!

  72. DO NOT call or email the Democratic or Independent Senators. They get it. Call and Email the Republican Senators, even those not in your State for their decisions impact you. The democrats and independents on CSPAN read your emails, letters, comments while the Republicans boo-hoo'ed and cried about how this deficit will "affect their grandchildren". Okay then, bombard them, flood them and MAKE them hear you. Not one of them acknowledged YOU, the unemployed. Keep their paid people busy. Fill out applications/send your resume for a JOB and FLOOD their offices. Better yet, fill out applictins for all those who FUNDED their campaigns. Let these Republican backers know they could better spend their money by subtracting from the deficit and hiring YOU. (Fox and News Corporation is a GOOD start.) In your short cover letter tell them so. Republicans HATE that. And Emai, call Orin Hatch and let him know that the Drug Testing for Unemployd Workers will cost EXTRA MILLIONS and add to that "DEFICIT"; Unemployment Insurance money that could go back to the worker. And finally, Let Biden and Obama know, as an American Worker who is unemployed, it's time for him to act. His House can do it, these Senators are playing games. Just like the employers.

  73. Where: Washington DC Mall
    When: July 2nd –

On July 2nd, gather your belongings and join us on the national mall in Washington DC.

If by July 2nd our government has failed to show us compassion, unemployment assistance will not be enough.

Email lols01@aol.com and say that you are willing to answer the call to be one of the first. Please provide your first name and a cell phone number if you still have one.

The fireworks will begin early this year in DC if our leaders fail to act!

  74. I truly hope all of you who can camp out on the Whitehouse lawn 4th of July weekend can do so!!! What better way to send a message than to do it on that day? It is a day honoring all of those people who fought so hard and lost lives to create a government that honored God and one that was by the people and for the people!!! I would love to see the fat rich cats in Washington standing in the unemployment lines that wrap around the building each time! Of course, those lines will be shorter now I guess since they are stopping benefits! They will pay for this. That is for sure! They have ruined our country!!! Create jobs to help us! Put us back to work!! You started this by allowing any jobs to be shipped overseas! Keep America strong! Bring back our jobs!!

  75. Republicans only care about making their pockets fatter!Families are hurting, and may lose their homes, and the ability to provide food, shelter. Republicans obviously do not have a heart. This is so sad. It's like we're in some third world country. Also, to think of all the taxes I have paid to the government over 40 years, and cannot get help until jobs are available.

  77. I have until July 9th before my 26-weeks of state unemployment ends... I have not got a single offer for a job, as they say I am over qualified, but no one will hire me for what I did before. I've called my NJ senators, and called the main player like Reed and McConnell's office. Those two don't want to hear from anyone not from their home state, but they are leaders in their parties in the Senate. Emailed the President too. This is not right, I feel for the 99'ers, but what about us 26'ers? Everyone is screwed, and why a stand alone bill cannot be voted on? Cutting Cobra for unemployed will mean more will go without health-care, as Cobra is to expensive if your unemployed collecting 60% of what you once made! These elected officials need to look out for us, and all the money they have handed out to Wall Street, banks, car companies and foreign countries, and not once worried about spending money we didn't have, but now it's an issues. They better not go on another recess (July 4th) and leave us hanging... Right now I am very upset and truly starting to hate my country, after all, my own country would rather help people in Haiti before my family!

  78. Anyone want to start a militia that has an agenda against the Republicans? Maybe some extreme tactics are necessary to get these self-centered, narrow minded, greedy jerks to understand what they are doing to this country. What's better, to be homeless without any way of taking care of yourself or being in jail or prison with at least a bed and 3 meals a day? It's going to take at least a decade to turn this country around anyway. Might as well at least exist in a protected environment.

  79. Help us please!!!!!!!!!!!! Can we impeach the Republicans who are doing this? If not, I sure wish we could! Get them out...if not now, we sure will the next time we vote!!!

I can't even afford to buy my insulin. I've worked hard all my life and MY taxes have gone to welfare, food stamps, and healthcare for illegal aliens who are not even PAYING TAXES because they are paid under the table. My taxes have gone to pay you pompous aholes who sit on your fat asses and insult us who are unemployed due to no fault of our own. What's next for me?????? I guess when I lose my feet, go on dialysis for kidney failure, and go blind I can try to get on disability. I am so disappointed, hurt, depressed, and angry. My country has failed me.

  85. Now is the time for a revolt. We will not sit silently by while we are denied what we are entitled to, and humiliated to boot. Our job is to get this message out. The separation of the classes is widening. The pompous congressmen in office HAVE their CUSH JOBS primarily because they come from families of wealth and were able to afford a better education than the rest of us. The great equalizer is education, but it's not the same to try to get an education, pay for it, and support yourself all at the same time as it is to be from a wealthy family and your only task is to go to an ivy league college that daddy got you into by pulling strings. I am so tired of the unfairness of this country. Also there's something intrinsically wrong when a convict in prison can get a college degree while in there but the rest of us are shit out of luck. It's no longer "God Bless America". It's God HELP America!

  86. THIS IS PURE INSANITY!!! WHAT IS REALLY THE PROBLEM? ITS NOT THERE IS A SELECT FEW THAT IS LOOKING FOR WORK AND NEEDING ASSISTANCE, THIS BILL NEEDS TO GET PASSED AND IT NEEDS TO BE DONE QUICK. I HAVE ONE DAUGHTER ON HER WAY TO COLLEGE, AND ANOTHER ONE THAT IS GETTING READY TO START HIGH SCHOOL. HOW IN THE WORLD AM I GOING TO PAY FOR ALL OF THIS? I CANT PAY MY RENT, WE DONT HAVE MONEY FOR FOOD, AND LETS NOT EVEN MENTION TRYING TO FILL UP THE GAS TANK ON TWO AUTOMOBILES... I AM OVER HERE AT WITS END. THE LITTLE BIT OF MONEY THAT I WAS GETTING ON A WEEKLY BASIS, WASNT ALL THAT GREAT, BUT IT DID KEEP THE LIGHTS ON, AND FOOD ON THE TABLE. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I AM GOING TO DO. THIS IS JUST A REALLY BAD SITUATION....

  87. It has happened in the past. Just read your history books. The people are going to riot against the fat asses in the Whitehouse. Some of those senators might just want to watch themselves when they are out. I would never do bodily harm to anyone myself, but it sounds like many of my fellow Americans are just about at that point. Remember the war for independence back in the 1700's? Well, I guess the slogan this time will be, "The Republicans are coming...The Republicans are coming!"

Right now we are all "sleeping with the enemy" so to speak!!! The enemy is after us and have turned into wolves/vultures sucking the life out of us and the country we once believed in.

RALLY ON THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!!! SEND THEM A MESSAGE LOUD AND STRONG!!

  88. Yes, it is a really bad situation. Heads need to roll. Marie Antoinette said, "Let them eat cake". We all know what happened to her! Fraid of what is going to come of this. I think congress has underestimated the response they are going to get from millions of people who are angry, hungry, and desperate. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It's not going to be pretty, I have a feeling. And we need to not just sit idly by and let them get away with this. We all need to make sure we are heard from every venue we can think of. United we stand, divided we fall. Speak out! Be heard! Protest, petition, DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO BE HEARD! There is power in numbers and lord knows, there are A LOT of US, whether they LIKE IT OR NOT!

Once the paycuts happen, it will permanently put money back into the "budget". Yeah, that's right! Let's use their money...including the President's. It's really our money anyway. Right? We pay their salaries. Other companies have pay freezes and/or pay cuts. Why not ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE IN THE WHITEHOUSE?!!! Just think how much money that would put back into the cash flow to help fund our unemployment benefits? Sounds like a winner to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

  105. The republican party does not care about the average working American because they figure that if the American people's moral is down come elections they will receive more votes! They are going to drive the people's dreams to the ground before elections by denying the American unemployed worker unemployment benefits while apologizing to BP on National Television for spilling thousands or maybe millions gallons of oil into the gulf killing thousands of scarce jobs in the south and killing innocent animals and probably humans in the long run by polluting our environment! And the Republican party still has the guts to say that 20 billion is a rip off!!!!! Then what is a life worth to them???? I think it means nothing if it's a lower or middle class American life that is lost!!! The republican party thinks is worth every penny for the money they get from oil companies for their politics!!!! The reason this is happening is because the average American does not get off his or her ass to vote and protest against the republican party and leaves all the voting the the wealthy people which republicans fight for! A lot of the major corporations and wealthy people are protesting for their benefit WHY DON'T WE DO IT???? iT IS TIME TO STAND UP FOR OURSELVES AND OUR LOVED ONES AND VOTE!! Hardworking American citizens are bleeding profusely; awaiting benefits to survive and still do our part to stimulate the economy. All you can do is stall with vacations, debates and kindergarten name calling?Do you not realize what effect this will have on the teetering economy? What will YOU do when there is no money to pay YOUR wages? I am ashamed to admit that I haven't voted in over 5 years. However, I have registered to vote in the next election.Hey, there's an idea.Maybe you can charge admission to the voting booth to raise money for the benefits that I have paid into for the last 26 years.I apologize for being so long-winded but,I never imagined I would see the day our ELECTED officials would spit in our face and go about "business as usual"!!!

To: Anonymous June 25, 2010 1:37 AM: I understand you're upset because you've been cut off benefits after only 6 months without moving to the next tier, and you like ALL OF US no matter HOW LONG unemployed, has the right to complain. However, WE...the unemployed...did NOT create these extensions! They were available because the Government IS aware of the lack of jobs and failing economy. So, how DARE you point your finger to people who you have NO idea what their story is because you think we've somehow sucked up your extension money! What the f-ck are you thinking? Some of these people may have lost their homes ANYWAY no matter HOW many extensions they've collected because unemployment pays them beans compared to what they were making! You have executives with bachelors making the SAME amount as some higher paid Customer Service rep because there's a cap on the maximum benefit allowed, and you think they're living high on the hog off unemployment? 110. Write (or call) your senators (Democrat and Republican), and your congressmen (the bill will have to go back to the House if it ever does get passed in the Senate). They need to stop the party fighting and work together on this, and stop blaming the other party. I wrote to mine even though they are Democrats and asked them to try and work a compromise with the GOP so that it can get passed, hopefully it will help. Write to the President, I just did that and begged for his help! This issue really needs to get out in the Media so that the unemployed are not the only ones aware of what the Senate is doing, there has not been much media coverage. I don't know how to do that, does anyone out there?

I am desperate, my benefits end next week and I too will then become homeless. At least it is just me and my dogs, not like some of you that have to live on the street with children. I think there are some assistance prgrams out there for families but my heart really goes out to you. My sister and her husband are also both unemployed and coming to that point as well so I do understand. My big concern is that I will not be able to afford my blood pressure medication which is a death sentence to me so I am pretty scared. I actually have an interview next week so now all I have to do is come up with the cash for gas and parking they don't validate) and then just pray they don't think I am too old. I am just happy to have an in-person interview.

I live in the Seattle area, would live to join a demonstration in this area on July 2 (can't afford to go to DC) if any come up.

DONT GET ME WRONG IM A US CITIZEN BUT AMERICANS ARE FREAKIN LAZY WHEN IT COMES TO FNDING WORK. 112. What a jerk - you have NO idea what you are talking about. I look every day for a job, jobs that pay a lot less than I was making, there are 300 applicants for every job I apply for and I rarely even get a phone call. You have no idea how depressing and stressful it is trying so hard to find a job and not being able to. The competition for jobs even at McDonalds is overwhelming, unfortunately I have a medical condition and can't lift over 10 pounds so there are limitations on what job I can take, but even then, the jobs are NOT there. Maybe you should quit yours and see how much fun it is to try and find a new one!!!!! Or maybe you are unskilled as well as stupid and they will hire you.

Don't call me lazy, I have worked for 40 years and unemployment IS NOT free money.

  113. Guess I needed one small laugh in this nightmare: I had emailed a heartfelt letter using the contact form on the White House website, asking that President Obama PLEASE push for the unemployment extensions. I got an email back, signed "Barack Obama", thanking me at length for my concern about the OIL SPILL. What????? When did I ever mention the oil spill?Talk about being out of touch!!
Guess we better not hold our breath waiting on any attention from HIM. I like the ideas people have proposed for nationwide protests on July 2, and the Washington demonstration. WE NEED TO DO THIS!!!!!!

  114. Hey, to the dumbass who posted at 5:29 that the unemployed are lazy, wait until YOUR JOB goes away and you end up competing with dozens of other applicants for any menial job you can find! I worked for 40 straight years, was laid off in 2008 from a high-tech job, and have sent out 346 resumes with NO LUCK. I was even recently turned down for a menial job at a laundromat down the street!!! YOUR attitude is typical lazy thinking: NOT TOO DEEP. I paid into the system for 40 years, so don't tell ME I haven't done my part.

It sounds like you are lucky enough to still have a job(or maybe YOU are on welfare or ssi or maybe you are just trying to stir up SHIT).Whatever the case you should have more compassion for your fellow "CITIZENS"!You do not know what people posting here have been through.I didn't have a very high-paying job to begin with; $10/hr.So I have tried to go to Mickey-D's and taco bell and grocery stores.Because of all the "illegal aliens" in my area and the thousands of recent high-school graduates not to mention college grads,I am told that I am too old, over-qualified, do not have a college education, or simply didn't get there in time.I have been in the workforce for over 30 years. My wage deductions have funded unemployment, welfare, ssi, disability, workman's comp, etc.I don't mind paying for all this when it goes to people who need it!You are correct on one point:there are some lazy people out there that take advantage of the system. No doubt. However,You will not find any of them here.Take the time to read ALL of these posts and I think you will want to re-think your position.Hopefully, you may even go so far as to offer a heartfelt apology and tell them you will keep them in your prayers(if you are spiritual). If not, please have enough respect and decency to offer this type of opinion on a site that will appreciate it.

  117. Grow up, Republicans. Big Boys take care of their own, and your'e not doing that. What part of sending another country MILLIONS of dollars (for whatever reason!) is okay, and you can't even help your own. wtf???? Don't make this a conspiracy. Hey, all of you who voted the bill down... did your dog eat well lastnight?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Do not move out of your houses! You created the money with a promissory note, without it the banks could not generate up to nine times the amount you signed for. Look into Acceptance for Value. This can be done for all bills presented to you. Take the country back by using the laws that have been hidden from the general public. Time to wake up America since our bell has been rung loudly. Do not give up! We are Americans!

It is bad when we pay all this money to help other countries and cannot help ourselves. I am from south carolina I emailed both my reps and no response been 14 biz days. They take our tax money and ignore us people who put them there collecting the big money. I will not vote for either of them again.

  120. The last check of my original 26 weeks comes on Tuesday. I have no money for gas or rent, let alone food. I am using my last check to file for bankruptcy. Of course, that still doesn't give me a place to live so if I can save my car, that will be my place to sleep. I know people who have collected since October of 2008 and still managed to work and hide the income from Nevada unemployment officials during that time. I am desperately looking for work. What a presence I make when I interview. No how do I look employable when sleeping in my car?

    Thanks, Republicans.

  121. Something a lot of you do not realize that while you and I have been toiling for years in factories and businesses our Government has had other plans. Check out the Georgia Stones on youtube. The plan is to reduce population. Enforcement and camp guards have increased. ICE and FEMA have been turning closed Military bases into concentration camps. Sound familiar to some people? Ever read Animal Farm?

  122. Right now the Republicans are crying about getting out of debt which is a joke. Our country runs on a debt system and has since 1933. The Federal Reserve has no gold or anything of value to back up the Treasury Bills for all the paper money created. We the people are the ones creating money by our signatures in a debt system. Check out the Uniform Commercial Code and HR 192. Accept Bills for value, learn how to do it and blow the Congressional thieving minds! You have the Power! "We the People" rule not the elected. The elected are servants of the people. Take your power and stand up and use your rights of sovereignty.

  123. This should never have been a political issue. I am so ashamed of this country. I can't sleep, sure can't eat (not that I don't want to)My father served in both the army and airforce for this country and he can not believe what he no longer calls his country is doing to the unemployed. We are beyond begging for our unemployment. They want to make it a political issue let's remember who voted what at election time and maybe just maybe we can put one of them in our positions.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Stop being victims, focus on what you want your life to be. Think of your perfect life then go after it. Shake yourselves off and get out of the woe paradigm the government has driven you to. You can do anything you set your mind to. If you want to live in a car or on the street you will. If you want to start you life over consider this as an opportunity. Be the person to make the changes. Look at this guy Alvin Greene, homeless and knocked out a primary win, now against DeMint! Alvin does not have good social speaking skills or political savvy but look at what he did. Think of this on a grand scale with individuals all standing up instead of laying down or hiding in their hovels and crying. Crying just gets you dead. Americans are not cry babies, we are doers.

  128. Hey, I just read about the "Accepted for Value" thing posted in this string and it seems valid. Check it out, it may be the answer to our woes. Thanks God there is a way out of this.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I need more information on this acceptance for value action to keep my house and keep the power on.

    ReplyDelete
  130. My church just had a seminar on "Accepted for Value". It is weird that I see it brought up here. A few people have used it and it worked. But the bills had to be signed correctly and sent to the IRS for payment to the power company. I have not talked to anyone who has done it with a mortgage but from what the material from the seminar said is that we can do it for all Federal debts.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Need more information on A4V mentioned. I just watched some videos on youtube this week about it but thought it was BS. I guess not, as the banks and IRS are recognizing the Acceptance for Value written on the "Presentments" or bills sent to us for everything. Why was this secret kept from the American people. I felt abandoned before now I've been lied to all these years. Thanks for bringing this issue up.

If you are over fifty and have sent out resumes, interviewed for jobs and not got hired, then Hello! Knock, Knock, no mans land, over fifties have to have a different plan to bring in income find some land to squat and grow your own food as the economy is not going to recover. Please stop your objection to extending Unemployment Insurance!!! WE ARE HURTING OUT HERE!!! THERE IS NO WORK!! Your lucky you have a job (that WE pay for) because WE don't! Extend Unemployment NOW and for the REST of the YEAR!! Stop playing GAMES with peoples lives!!!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Please Mr. President - PLEASE MAKE AN EXECUTIVE DECISION AND ALLOW OUR BENEFITS TO CONTINUE!! WE ALL NEED HELP. I am sure many others are in my position where I made a good living when I lost my job, so trying to "get by barely" with unemployment was keeping our heads barely above water. We need this...and not in two week., but today. I would much rather work that be depended on unemployment. How many more ppl must lose their homes, eat at soup kitchens, can't feed their children? We are not a 3rd world place. If we can help all these other countries, why can't we get the men and woman to understand this is hurting more and more ppl, and causing more and more bankruptcy. That certainly can't be helping our economy? I can't even get a debt consolidation loan, cause i'm not working....so I can't make our bad situation even a little better but paying off my car and credit cards and lower our monthly debts by $300/mo. No one want's to help anywhere! A consolidation loan would have helped us so much, but no banks aren't going to take that chance! So I can't get that, now I'm told no more unemployment...but our PRESIDENT COULD over stop the turn down and make an executive decision...what are you waiting for? I am a responsible citizen, but no one is allowing me to help myself. The only thing I will be able to do soon if file bankruptcy. How wonderful. And this could be stopped. And I speak for hundreds and thousands of others walking in my shoes too. PLease Please help us.

You act like helping people like us is taking away from your three meals a day served to you on a china plate while you sit in your mansions and pretend that we don't really exist or that we aren't real people that your votes are affecting. I watch my strong, noble husband dissolve into the broken man he is becoming every day because he cannot find another job and we cannot pay the house note.
