Approximately 270,000 Toyota vehicles are in the process of being recalled due to faulty engines. The recall extends not only to Toyotas but also the popular luxury Lexus brands. This further adds to woes felt by the Japanese automaker who has all but been de-throned from their crown as the king of quality.
The quality issue deals with a piece of the motor being made up of cheap metal, which can break. Toyota owners could experience rough idling before the problem causes the engine to stall.
So far, no injuries or deaths have been attributed to the problem, and Toyota is sending owners of cars affected by the recall a card in the mail.
138,000 Lexus cars could be affected by the recall as well. Toyota estimates that the likelihood that a problem will come out from this known issue in about .2% of cases.
Toyota isn't taking any chances anymore. Why not? After the government cracked down on them and questioned their quality issues in the wake of multiple recalls, they would rather be safe than sorry.
Will I still purchase a Toyota? It all depends on what type of deal I got on it. Overall, all car manufacturers have their problems. If I were to buy any car I wanted, I would get a BMW (when have you heard of a BMW recall? Exactly) If I were to buy any car I could afford, I would get a Kia or Hyundai...because...that's what I can afford.
TOYOTA STILL HAS THE MOST SAFER VEHICLES. AND COMPARED TO OTHER MAKES, HAS THE LESS PROBLEMS, ALL MY FAMILY HAS TOYOTAS AND LOVE THEM. I RATHER HAVE A TOYOTA THAN A DOMESTIC AT LEAST TOYOTA HAS HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES EMPLOYED. PLUS GMC DROPPED 27% IN SALES LAST MONTH, SO THEY MIGHT START CUTTING BACK ON THEIR BUDGETS AGAIN. OR MAYBE ANOTHER BAIL OUT.
ReplyDeletehow about the 14 million recalls ford had last year, and how about the recall for the cobolts with bad steering, that is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteOr the Recall On Honda Airbags... Why havn't we heard about any of these?
ReplyDeletehow about toyota makes pieces of SH!T????? ever think of that????? 02 rav4 properly maintained with 63k transmission and ECM went. thats BS. you people are brainwashed that imports are better. half of you dont know cars and just listen to stupid people. wake up and work on your own cars. oh yeah and buy american, SUPPORT YOUR COUNTRY.
ReplyDeletebuy american? you're the ignorant one in this conversation... Three of the top five most "American" cars are from Japanese companies (Toyota & Honda) "Of the top 10 vehicles on the American Made index, five of them come from Japanese car makers." (WSJ) Chevy's and Ford's have a large percentage of components made in Mexico. So YOU support YOUR country and buy from a car company that actually makes its cars in America and doesn't need government bail out money...
ReplyDeleteBmw has never had a recall? Not true. Every e46 3 series has a recall on it because the rear end can separate from the chasis diring normal driving. Bmw just had a recall in june this year because the seat belt in the 1 series can catch fire.
