Twilight:Eclipse Movie Reviews and Box Office Totals

Twilight: Eclipse is the hottest film on the big screen.  The movie reviews for Eclipse are coming in and for the most part they are rave reviews.  Film critics may not like the movie, but anyone reviewing the movie that doesn't want to upset millions of Twi-hard fans are giving some great feedback. However, looking at both the positive and the negative is always a good idea.

Here are some negative reviews from Rotten Tomatoes:

Eclipse is ... over-stuffed with characters and story lines and like the proverbial hoarder the series keeps adding new stuff without letting anything go. - Sarah Boslaugh

There's a narrative of sorts, but it stands squarely behind the flat conversing and posturing of the washboard abs-blessed Jacob, moody Edward and humorless Bella. - Robert Levin

124 minutes of listening to teenagers melodramatically espouse the depth of their convoluted passions for each other makes for a pretty dire trip to the movies. - Simon Foster.

ON the other hand, here are some positive reviews from the same site:

When it comes to the things this brand is famous for -- angsty canoodling, ethereal rocking out, truckloads of male beauty, Duran Duran-style make-up and culturally savvy jokes -- Eclipse actually goes one better than the last offering. - Charlotte O'Sullivan

Third Twilight movie has more drama, violence. - Sandie Chen

I like seeing Edward frustrated by Bella's individuality. He can't control her and make her do what he wants. This 'perfect' love is actually totally incompatible. - Fred Topel

Before Twilight fans get upset with these reviews - I didn't write them.  I'm just sharing a few of them with the masses.  I saw the movie and I thought it was great.  It was much better than New Moon, and there was a lot more violence and love themes that made it tons more interesting.

  2. Eclipse was too dark and melancholy most of the time -- where are some lighter moments? Some humor was good, but there was a lot missing from the book, and revisions that didn't fit. The love scenes looked anything but -- where was the chemistry from the first movie? The action scenes will interest the boys more, but the proposal scene and the ending were stilted and cut short.

  4. I agree with anne, I think the movie could have gone more chronological to the book. I feel the screenplay writer did not do Stephaine Myers book justice. I like the actors but, I feel the script let them down.

  5. The first movie was great, the chemistry between Bella and Edward was wonderful. New Moon was also very well done and showed us Jacob. I had seen each movie 4 times prior to Eclipse. Somehow Eclipse was a let down(maybe my expectations were too high). The recasting of Victoria was so jarring:-( Hope the next one will be better.

  6. Everyone looked air-brushed to perfection. I prefer the more natural Bella from Twilight.

  7. I was very disappointed, I LOVE these books so much & I LOVE Jacob... It seems to me they were more worried about the new borns & the battle that they forgot about the story between Bella Edward & Jacob... VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED I skipped around, some of the new scenes didn't make since like Bella leaving Edward to drive off with Jacob HA that would have never happen!!! Anyway I'm done cause I could go on & on...

  8. I agree that there was so much content from the book left out, and some changes made to make the movie flow better and I get that. As a fan of the books, I could appreciate the movie, but if I hadn't read the books, I would have wanted my money back for the movie. I did however like the chemistry between Bella and Jacob. By the time the movie was over, I honestly wanted Bella to choose Jacob! That was a first for me.

  9. Not only was a lot from the book left out but small details that didn't need to be changed were. It took a lot away having Edward so ok with Bella hanging out with Jacob. That is a major part of the story, it adds to the impact of the werewolves and vampires working together. New Moon was so close to the book, it set up high expectations that were let down. Eclipse is a huge disappointment.

  10. Why so many re-casts? I thought the original actors did a much better job. Also what happened to Bree's part? The movie was very disappointing. I love the books, but this is the last of the movies I will see. Sorry Breaking Dawn...Eclipse ruined it for you :(

  11. there was so much missing in the film (from the book)! the actors performance was better but the movie did not make the cut. I'm not sure if I want to waste my money to see the 4th film. Also when is Taylor going to get an award? It's always Rob and I think that Taylor deserves more attention.

  12. I really preferred the "original" Victoria. For some reason everyone looked to perfect...I agree with the comment "they were airbrushed to perfection".

  13. I can not be the only person that sees that Kristan Stewart can not act her way out of a paper bag. "Bella" gets proposed to and shows no emotion at all, for what is supposed to be the happiest moment in someones life. It is painful to try and sit through the movies because of her. Everyone else gives believable performances while she talks out her lines and does her best not to make eye contact with anyone. BRUTAL!!!

  14. yes .. I agree with the above comment .. bella did not make an eye contact with jacob when she got proposed :( ..very disappointing

  15. I watched the movie... so much was missed out from the book, The Bella driving off with Jacob part had me so upset. The film didnt not show the real depth of Edward's angst towards the Werewolves. Without reading the book the Film actually makes no sense. I suggest that people read the book. Let your imagination runaway. I do think the actors where great but the script read like a abstract or bulletpoints.

  16. The movie had soooo much stuff left out that the book had. Eclipe is my favorite book and Eclipse the movie is my least fave! I am very disappointed. I think the script should of been changed. There was no detail in the screens like the book has. They left out Edwards and Bellas discussion on college, Angela and Bellas conversation about Edward, and overall i wasnt satisfied. My expectation for the movie was way higher!!!! I think Stephie Meyer should of told them to change the script.

  17. The movie was alright but I expected more emotion of love between bella and edward. I know that the only reason most people like Jacob is because of how he looks. If you read the book Jacob is jerk in Eclipse (Makes Bella cheat on Edward by threatning to get himself killed which ruins there great friendship). So after reading the book and watching the movie, I'm still Team Edward even though I like Taylor Laughtner. I hate his character. The acting was pretty good but didnt show enough emotion as I said before and didnt convince me of any reality

  18. I felt the movie lacked substance and any emotion whatsoever. One of the pivotable emotional parts in the book was when Bella broke down after saying goodbye to Jacob and Edward consoling her. Nothing about that in the movie. Don't get a feel for just how much that hurt Bella, how much she loved Jacob. Edwards commitment to Bella. Also when Jacob gets the wedding invite in the epilogue and he runs off.. unless that might be in the next movie. THe kiss between Bella and Jacob in the book was raunchy and wild and passionate - the opposite to her physical relationship with Edward but that didn't come across either. The movie definitely lacks the strong powerful emotional aspect that the book and our imaginations brought! Edward also comes across much stronger in the book - in the movie he is almost whiny during interactions with Bella.

  19. I agree with the previous comment... Edward is a very strong character in the book. But in the movies he always has that painful whiny expression. And the character of Bella was completely wrong in the movie... in the book she is this sensitive girl who LOVES Edward like he is her God, but in the movie she just dint show any strong love towards Edward. They have tried to make Bella look more stronger, rude and confident in the movie as a result they have completely striped away her real character, which is fragile and less confident(sorry guys, but that is how she is in the book and that is what makes everyone relate to her and love the book!). They have made Bella and Jacob look more stronger than Edward which is completely wrong!!!! And in the book Bella completely breaks down with guilt when she kisses Jacob, but in the movie she just looks unperturbed by that kiss and she faces Edward without guilt, i HATED that part!!!

  20. I totally agree with the above comment. Bella in the book would never have left Edward and rode away with Jacob. Nor did she shout at Edward when she found out that Jacob was listening in when Edward was mentioning about Bella agreeing to marry him. And she cried her life out when she kissed Jacob!!!! And what happened to Edwards crooked smile which Bella loves?? that was completely missing! Kristen's acting sucked and she showed any real emotion only when she explained to Charlie about she being a virgin. Otherwise she was gloomy and never smiled.

  21. I don't really mind what film critics think about it. They may not like it but I know for sure there's not a single one of my friends who didn't enjoy this film. Loved eclipse and so sorry then the trilogy is over now.
