Unemployment Extension, also known as the Tier 5, has been desired by the 99ers for some time now. With the introduction of the bill S3706, the 99er might have some help soon. However, will it be the end of this year before any headway will be made.
With unemployment at all time highs, and the things we buy keep getting higher everyday it is hard enough to make it when you do have a job. For the 99ers, the task of everyday living just keeps getting harder, that’s why they hope this bill will pass and soon.
President Obama passed the long waited for Unemployment Extension, but it did nothing to help the 99ers. All it did was extend the time to file Tiers 1-4 of the previously approved extensions. The new bill that was introduced, S3706 will give much needed help to the one that was not included in the last bill.
Included in the measure are an additional 20 weeks of benefits on top of the 99 currently available. Tax incentives for businesses to hire workers who have been unemployed over the long term.
We all hope that Congress will address this when they come back from break. Furthermore, it would be a great help to the ones who need it if the bill is passed and on the President desk so the 99ers can get the help they deserve.
