An Unemployment Extension for Tier 5 Absent from September 13 Senate Agenda

An unemployment extension for Tier 5 desires is absent from the Senate's September 13 agenda. A Tier 5 unemployment extension is needed by those who want nothing more than some help from the government. It's not too much to ask; these individuals have been diligently searching for jobs, with no income coming in.

If the US can give out money to foreign governments and entities, then why not dole out some money to the citizens in need? Some say that a Tier 5 extension would benefit the economy greatly by giving American families disposable income. It also keeps families out of foreclosure and could even keep some families from using social benefits such as food stamps.

On the other hand, there are many who say that giving out money to the unemployed for longer than the current 99 weeks would give people an incentive to NOT work, possibly by turning down job opportunities that pay less than they want, in hopes of scoring the "job of their dreams" before their benefits run out. The result of this game of roulette is that many people end up jobless at the exhaustion of their benefits, and still need work.

The Tier 5 benefit extension is important to Americans, but it's not looking like it is important to those on Capital Hill. Currently, the docket includes "morning business" followed by considering the nomination of Jane Stranch to US Circuit Court Judge.

  1. scum bag senators

  2. Over 200 applications sent out and and our elected officials say us 99r's are lazy. Was wall street and the auto industry lazy. The incentive for working is having a job to go every day. I live in San Diego were the unemployment is 10.6%.
that's 165,000 people out of work and fighting for any job they may qualify for. Our Government can bailout everyone but not help the people who need it most. I can't wait until November.

I pray for all of us,

  3. it does not matter we are all screwed by these money grubbing ghouls workers revolt

  4. Not all people want to be on unemployment. Right now it is just necessary for people that are unable to fing work. While they are out during for break eating good and their kids to private school others will be getting put out of homes.

  5. If they do not do something there will certainly be a surprise at the ballot box in November. Politicians will see just how bad unemployment is and what the real numbers are . Anyone who blocks unemployment tier 5 will be in a world of trouble in november

  6. I applied for a job this week selling windows and doors. I have 30 yrs experience selling building materials and 15 yrs as a window and door expert.
I rec'd a reply that said "we rec'd a lot of applications and there were several candidates with better qualifications than you"
How will we ever get back in the job market?
My 401k has already been used trying to survive.

  7. We need a tier 5 now! We are losing our homes cars and dignity help the American people now or we will be a third world country. This mess wasn't our fault the company I use to work for built a big plant in China well there went our jobs.

  8. Attention sniveling welfare collectors!!!

You are lazy deadbeats who have made your own problems. You bought homes you could not afford, cars you could not afford, and had children that you cannot afford.

Hearing you whine about getting free money disgusts me.

  9. J.R. In California!August 15, 2010 at 1:39 PM

To Charles. You pathetic little grub. Recognize that Bush and his Republican whore's put us in this mess from the beginning. You are a sad excuse of human waste posting from website to website for people to see how ignorant and stupid Republicans are. You are a total low life for coming on to this website to talk crap about something I am sure you know nothing of. You are a coward! You are no diffrent than these politicians who go on tv shows and hit on eachother with a fake smile on there face...If I knew who you were and I speak for all the 99ers, we'd put you out of your misery. What really counts is the day you die, you will ask god for forgiveness for your sad little life as scum, but i doubt he will be as merciful to a pig.

  10. To Charles- Thats a bunch of crap. I was making 6 figures- bought a normal middle class house I could easily afford, a 4 used runner for cash , got one son through a 4 yr college and the youngest son through high school. Had a 401 K, savings and paid on time for all my credit cards with low balances. Once I lost my job through no fault of my own and am now called a 99'er stupid people like you say Im lazy or over extended. BTW I never collected 99 weeks because thats a big lie to !

  11. Charles,do you work hard at being a jerk or does it just come natuarlly?

  12. My husban has been working diligently in the civil engineering field for all his life -25 years. Since being laid off over 1 and half years ago,he has been anxiously looking for work but got so disappointed because too many competitives for too few oppoutunities. Let me tell you you LAZY republican senate, My husband IS NOT LAZY!
And while you are enjoying gourmet and wine, many hard workers are starving from the mistakes that you republicans made!
    Shame on you all republicans!

  13. Charles is just a little uneducated. Don't let him offend anyone. People pay into unemployment all of their lives. It's not welfare. Charles, take a tea bag off your hat and brew me a cup dude. Good luck and God Bless you Chuck.

  14. Charles' rant only demonstrates his ignorance. The individual lacks intelligence and empathy, notwithstanding sounding like a vicious human being!

  15. Yes us unemployed want to be lazy and lose everything we own. Get real! It is easier for them to turn their backs on us than to help us.

  16. People should ignore Charles. He is nothing more then a troll who goes from forum to forum posting inflammatory things. This is how he gets his jollies.

  17. To Charles- It's real easy for you to make such comments. When time comes that your job is gone and you look for help see how you react then. When you have been looking for work for over two years and you keep getting told that your over qualified to push a broom or mop floors let's see how you will be toward those of us that can't find a job.

  18. I'm so sick of our country wasting money coming to the aid of the rest of the world and having no money to help people here. This makes zero sense to me.

  19. Charles is just a hit and run troll!! Pay no attention to him.

  20. It sure makes my day seeing some stuffed shirt like McConnell talking like he has a pole jammed up his ass saying the 99ers shouldn't get additional benefits because the country can't afford it. When Wall Street and the other big time lobbyists came calling you of the GOP were standing in line like a pack of Pavlov's dogs. Wait until the election comes!!

  21. Everyone should pray for Charles & people like him, because he / they really need Jesus!!!

  22. Its a shame the 99ers have been left to die. I wonder how many of them will go down without a fight.

  24. When the “unemployed” realize that they must start taking care of themselves and that the corrupt government does not care to keep them alive other than to buy their votes is the day they will start to take their lives back. Jobs are not magically created (especially by a government dictator, example: Cuba). Sadly most of the “unemployed” see potential employers as the enemy and have the “cut off the heads of the capitalists” attitude. Lack and suffering always follow the entitlement mindset. These are harsh words to some but will in the long run be seen as much kinder than a handout. As a wise person once said; “those who do not know history are condemned to repeat it”.

  26. To Charles:
why don't you put a Dick in your mouth and choke? Go back to looking at your MANBLA website and stay off of here.

  27. The best and most noticeable way to let our voices be heard will be at the ballot boxes in November and again in 2012. It utterly amazes me how we can always come up with $$ to help the world police itself, feed itself, maintain itself. However, when we the citizens of this once great nation need some assistance, all of a sudden the well is dry. I don't want to see the country go bankrupt helping us or anyone else. It would be great if we could somehow figure a way to stop all the waste and corruption that seems so prevalent nowadays. I mean, $1 million dollars of stimulus money to build a squirrel bridge across a road???? COME ON! And that's just a single example of the stupidity that is apparently condoned in DC these days. And it's not just the Republicans or just the Democrats to hold accountable... they all have had their hand in the cookie jar of late. Its time for us as Americans to get control and order back into Washington. Our founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves with the way things are going now.

  28. OK...this bill is not on the agenda so when will it be?!
Where's the President with all his bull...let him take a stand BEFORE months go by and make the 99er's suffer any more...if that's at all possible!!!!
I've paid into the UI system for 35 years working hard only to lose everything including my dignity while these greedy bastards take yet another vacation which we paid for!!!
They'll put this off until Nov. when the other bill expires and then what?! We will pushed to side again to wait wjile we live on the street!

  29. What does Charles know. Don't throw stones from a Glass House. President Obama, step up to the plate. Please say/do something, if you're truely for the people. We need a Tier 5 extension during this Recession.

  30. I am a professional with a college degree. At age 61, I am mopping and sweeping floors, just to pay my rent!! I ran out of unemployment last January and this is all that I could find to do- lazy, I think not- but a victim of capitalist greed and corruption!

  31. 20 weeks for all states 30 weeks for states at 6.5 and 40 weeks for states 10.0 and above. our fearless leaders dont care about us... we need to over throw this goverment and put pour people in there.

  32. right now on world news the U.S.A. if funding the aid to Pakistan before Russia and militants get in there to help them..

    What do you think?

  33. Hey Guys - Charles a/k/a Chuckie works for the government! Don't let him offend you - after all we are paying his salary so he can screw us! Oh Chuckie - you little evil doll you - soon this will all catch up with you too! Maybe someone will give you a "free ride" to prison and you can bend over! ahahahaahhahahahahahhha That's certanly better than you deserve!

  34. The United States has donated the most, at least $70 million, and has sent military helicopters to rescue stranded people and drop of food and water. Washington hopes the assistance will help improve its image in the country — however marginally — as it seeks its support in the battle against the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan

  36. I want there to be a vote option for NONE.. Meaning we can remove all of the people in the House and Senate now..
I am also a firm believer that once they are out of Office the Life time paycheck should stop right then.. Stop PAYING them for being LAZY and FISHING .... Wish I could have a cozy job that would let me spend all day doing nothing and complain cause everything isnt the way I DEMAND it to be.

  37. Can't these selfish greedy pieces of crap that run our so called great America, from the beginning of this country these pieces of garbage have been stealing raping and murdering the citizens and natives of this country I personally would like to pull the lever and watch them all hang starting with that Muslim slim dog a--hole Obama

  38. Pepole that bash the unemployed prob. never been unemployed before or just another bored kid sitting at home on summer vacation with nothing better to do than bash pepole.

  39. Stop your whining and complaining!

If your benefits ran out, go get a job. When my benefits expired, I got a job. Granted it's minimum wage.

Yes, you may lose your home, car and most of your possessions. Deal with it just like I did.

I know several people who refuse to work because they won't be making what they used to. I suspect that's most of you complaining.

The Government owes you nothing. Most of you have it wrong, your employer pays your unemployment taxes, not you the employee.

It's time to eat some humble pie!

  40. And what about those of us who DIDN'T have six-figure incomes and lost our jobs? I am college-educated (guess who still has work? Student loan collectors) and capable but have been working most of my life in food service. Now when I go to apply for work, I have to compete with all the folks who looked down on me for doing what I did for a living. The problems isn't that I think low-paying work is beneath me. The problem is that there isn't even much low-paying work left either.
I have kept my son and I bouncing just above the poverty line by hard work, and now I am about to lose the almost nothing we have been getting by on. After a lifetime of choosing to go without rather than be a drain on government resources, now that I need to rely on some help to get through, I am told I am lazy and shiftless and don't deserve the same lifeline as we would immediately extend to third-world working poor?

  41. I have noticed companies that use to pay 18 to 23 dollars a hour are paying now 7.50 to 8.00 a hour. They're low balling everyone another words they're taking advantage of the unemployed in these economic hard times. Has anyone else noticed this? These are greedy companies! The job market is so flooded now they get away with it, in my opinion these companies are un-American I guess they're Republicans screw the American worker. Right?

  42. Asking Obama to do something is just wasting your breath. He didn't speak about the last unemployment extension only until Carte Goodwin of W.Va was named to replace Byrd and the vote was guaranteed. He got on his soap box in the rose garden with a few unemployed and bashed the republicans. Sorry, but with the nuclear option and reconcilliation and the dems controlling both houses, there is NO reason that this has not passed yet. This is just a way for the dems to get re-elected. If the reps take the house and senate this year, there is still the lame duck session that the dems could use to push this through, but they won't because then it will be retribution for us not keeping them in. As far as that idiot "Charles the troll", don't let him get to you. And as far as only voting rep or dem this year, wouldn't it be nice if there was a "None of the above" box like in Brewsters Millions.

  43. Responding to charles in my opinion is ignorant!

  45. I do not understand why wasn’t the tier five unemployment extension bill included with the unemployment extension bill that was just passed in July. Why Congress only extend the unemployment bill, but not for the people that may have become permanently unemployed whom needs it worst? People that really needed the extension are now included in the new homeless population, with no money, no food and everything I have work for is gone with the snap of a finger. I am renter so my time is up for me living my apartment, my benefit ended in May. I been stressed about the unemployment extension bill and to find out you were not included in the unemployment bill unbelievable. The senate, congress does not care about the American people that put them into office and pay their salary until the day they die. The Senate already has their schedule as to what they are going to do when they come back in September. they will be focus on a bill to promote small businesses, a child nutrition bill, a tax-credit bill for companies and possibly a vote on the Bush-era tax cuts or the START arms treaty between the United States and Russia, And the 99’er are nowhere on that schedule. I don’t understand when the senate was called back to congress for a vote on the teacher’s job bill, tier 5 unemployment extension bill should have been included in that. However, it wasn’t so is this a message to the American people we do as we please, we only want your vote to what we want, and we will tell you what you want to hear to just to get your vote. However, there is no urgency committed to the 99ers in passing the Tier 5 unemployment extension bill.

  46. I have an idea?
Close our over seas Military Bases, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Britain can do fine without us!

Get rid of the British Owned "federal Reserve!" and the private banks!
Open the Universities, and educate our own people!
Make the banks repay us tax payers by financing the refurbishing of our roads and other infrastructure!

OH! One more thing!... Socialism NOW!

  47. The basher's need to shut up and get on with their happy lives. What they have it going on that good that they have nothing better to do. Sorry for the economy and our government failing us you moron! Go tell your daddy you need a new toy or something! Don't worry about the 99er's trying to survive, obviously you don't care and we don't need snob ass people like you making your ignorant comments. Remember, without money people start getting very desperate so hold on to your wallet real tight "money bags" because maybe you might become a mugging victim of one of these unemployed, hardup, penniless individuals who don't know what else to do or where to turn... have you ever thought of that? the crime that come's with people who get so desperate they are left with no other choice but finding ways to survive and sometimes resulting in violent crimes. President Obama needs to realize what is going on and how people are getting desperate. He needs to make this one of the priority's and help people who have no resources. We did not cause this dysfunctional economy and we should not be punished for it!!! Get it right before you start posting ridiculous comments because you don't know what you are talking about...ok "money bags"

  48. Charles, you are probably the man I chucked my 32oz fountain drink at on the know the jackass that thinks his shit don't stink and drives with a clothes pin and you ugly nose pointed up in the air... too stupid to realize there is a real world out there. I hope you fall off your stool and land in a pile of shit like all the "Sniveling welfare collectors" your talking about. You are going to be the one asking GOD for mercy when your day comes. Keep this in mind, "What goes around, Comes around" if not in this lifetime it will in your next. Maybe someone will be calling you a "sniveling welfare collector" never are the pathetic one! even though you think you have it all... you "shit smelling coyote" you have nothing! I would rather be a good friend to someone poor than to a loser like you!! Now swallow the truth...loser!

  49. Joe from WisconsinAugust 16, 2010 at 3:24 AM

If I met you personally, and you said that to me....I would beat you within an inch of your pathetic life asshole! I work(ED)..stressing the "ED" in that, in construction since I was 18. I went to school via an apprenticeship for a skilled trade. I worked 40-60 hours every week. Now that my job was eliminated due to our flailing economy, you have the audasity to post that type of shit? You're an idiot!! May yourself and your family fall on hard times. I hope you some day (and soon), get a taste of this so called "wellfare" that I payed into every week with my hard work!

  51. We need to send the loving back to them in November!!!!!!!!!

  52. The political whores in Congress can give almost a trillion and a half to the banking scumbags and can't support those who truly need it? Let's show them who counts in November!!!

  53. Charles.EAT BOO BOO thats prolly your diet anyway, everybody else hang in there GOD wont let us down.

  54. Why is this Proposed Bill ( Tier V Extension of Benefits for the 99 ers) not on the agenda when Congress comes back to work (?) on September 13, 2010 ??
Simply put--our Senators are nothing but ASS HOLES.
How many Billions -- if not Trillions --of dollars have been wasted by our "protectors" in Washington??
All they do is constantly piss away dollars to other countries or better yet---remark as to how "proud" they are to document/qualify the the $$$ magnitude of the fraud imposed on Medicare/Medicaid ( presently at approx. $ 50 Billion per year). Better yet, they have quantified the $$$$$ drain on the U S Treasury caused by electronic filing of bogus Tax returns--yet they still EFT the $$$'s to the illegal filer.
The money (if any) that is given to us will be automatically re circulated into the economy when we pay our mortgage/rent/utilities/groceries--etc.
So, what's the freaking problem in aiding the taxpayers ( when they were employed---they paid your salary thru their taxes) ?

  55. ARMED AND DESPERATEAugust 16, 2010 at 8:40 AM

Im a 99er and Im sick of talking. We can blog, email, fax and make phone calls until we are dead in the gutter. Thats where most of us will be before a extension is even discussed. A sky rocketing crime rate will get this bill moving, I guarantee it. Its time for action. You all can sit around with your hand out till you starve to death. Im going to go get mine! You just wait for the people who got you in your situation to help you get back on your feet. IT ISNT GOING TO HAPPEN! Turn on the news, no mention of the 99ers. Check your computer, same old story you read yesterday. No help is coming. Obama will do nothing until the day before Tier 5 is already going to pass. Then he will urge congress to pass a bill that was already done and take full credit for it. Good luck to you all and be aware of anyone dressed in all black at night. It might be me and I have nothing left to loose and my kids will NOT go hungry.

  56. To Charles, The Bible tells us that there is a lot of power in the words we speak out loud. So here goes,

"I hope your brakes go out at a 102, I hope a flower pot falls from a window sill and knocks you in the head like I'd like too" ect....

Quoted from the song from Jaron and the long road to live~Pray for you

What comes around goes around buddy!

  57. Do any of you understand why this is happening? There seems to be no logic behind why they are willing to make us suffer, but there is. Economies around the world are collapsing. Why? Our government seems to be doing nothing to help its own people. Why? It's simple. The leaders around the globe want a single currency for the world, and the only way they can achieve this is to collapse the world economy.

  58. A single currency? Are you kidding? LOL

  60. Authored by Reza Moghadam, director of the IMF's strategy, policy and review department, a recent IMF paper (April 2010) discusses how the IMF sees the International Monetary System evolving after the financial crisis. In the eyes of the IMF, "the best way to ensure the stability of the international monetary system (post crisis) is actually by launching a global currency".

  61. On the other hand, there are many who say that giving out money to the unemployed for longer than the current 99 weeks would give people an incentive to NOT work, possibly by turning down job opportunities that pay less than they want,

This is being said by people who failed math. Assume everyone goes out and does everything to fine a job. Willing to take any job. Well math is for every one looking there is 1 job for every 5 looking. So if congress can do math that leaves 4 not getting a job. Yet they think it is UI extensions that make us not take jobs? Enough with this bs there are not enough jobs to prevent continuing increases in UI levels. It been 2 years since crash of 08 started this. Yet again they ignore math. 2 years folks that is why this summer 99ers are growing.

  62. This is a game to them, they sit back and read these blogs and chuckle. But when their asses get mugged and/or worse we'll see who's laughing then. Pass the bill and stop playing with the lives of the people who worked hard to get you in the position your in today. As far as nonsensical comments by inbreds like "charles" ignore them. he obviously isnt in tune with whats really going on and was most likely spoon fed everything he has by daddy and mommy his whole hopefully soon to come to an end miserable life. Interview after interview and no call backs EVER, they call us lazy but if i was lazy i would of collected welfare all those years i worked my ass off, there is nothing great about receiving half of what you used to make and then on top of it it suddenly stops and thats pretty much it. I refuse to collapse and will do whatever i have to to survive, if it means taking from the rich when theyre headed to their corvette after doing nothing all day but fart in a leather chair, then so be it, i came from nothing and built myself up into what i am today, but if you try to reduce me back to nothing i will show you how a poor person lives lavishly at the expense of you thieves in politics. I know my targets :)

  63. We did pay into unemployment with every paycheck.
Our employers paid half and we payed half.

  64. To Armed and Desperate:

I feel for you. I know how hard it must be trying to provide for your family and to stay afloat without any money coming in. Hang in there. With job claims increasing weekly, they will have to take action when they return from recess, or there will be a double dip recession in the works. I know how frustrating this must be for you, but please, going out and stealing from innocent people who could be in worse shape than you won't help the cause. It would only be a short fix and make you, who I'm sure is a decent human being, feel like crap later. Hang in there. G-d bless.

  65. FALLEN, and RUINED, is Babylon the Great, The once mighty country is TRASHED! A ghost town for demons, whores, and fat cat politicians is all that's left! A garrison of carrion spirits, garrisons of the loathsome, carrion birds. All nations of the earth drank the wild wine of her sluttish ways; kings of the earth went whoring with her; entrepreneurs made millions exploiting her. Her sins stink like a pile of dung to high Heaven; God has remembered every evil she's done. You Babylonians had a good time while it lasted, didn't you? You lived it up, exploiting and using my people, Frisky calves romping in lush pastures, wild stallions out having a good time! Well, your mother Britain would hardly be proud of you. The woman who bore you wouldn't be pleased. Look at what's come of you! The Last Great Nation! Rubble and garbage and weeds!

You said, 'I'm the First Lady. I'll always be the pampered darling.' You took nothing seriously, took nothing to heart, never gave tomorrow a thought. Well, start thinking, playgirl. You're acting like the center of the universe, Smugly saying to yourself, 'I'm Number One. There's nobody but me. I'll never be a widow, I'll never lose my children.

  66. I am confused by how it is ok to bail out big companies who were having parties for management, for saving their company money for cutting our jobs. Do the people like Charles above and politicians not realize that our taxes paid for these bailouts. It is totally repulsive to me that we are being screwed over by corporations and our own government. Can the people that are running either not see that by doing people wrong they are hurting themselves? I would like to know who will buy their products, pay their salaries, and keep the government running when they have sufficiently bled us dry. Charles I challenge you and others of your ilk to explain to the people in America how any of this makes since.

  67. To Charles: You are a moron. You must never have been unemployed. Hopefully someday you will be so that you can get a taste of reality.

  68. This is to Charles.... I will sit back and laugh when KARMA punches you in the face!

  69. Crime is going to go up. I'll tell ya I've been seriously thinking about it. Go rob a bank. Hey maybe I'll get away with it and move on to the next one. If I do get least I'll have a roof over my head, three meals a day and fun a recreation at a federal prison.

  70. Ruin descends-- you can't charm it away. Disaster strikes-- you can't cast it off with spells. Catastrophe, sudden and total-- and you're totally at sea, totally bewildered! But don't give up. From your great repertoire of enchantments there must be one you haven't yet tried. You've been at this a long time. Surely something will work. I know you're exhausted trying out remedies, but don't give up. Call in the astrologers and stargazers. They're good at this. Surely they can work up something!

"Fat chance. You'd be grasping at straws that are already in the fire, A fire that is even now raging. Your 'experts' are in it and won't get out. It's not a fire for roasting your BBQ, not a fire to warm you on a winter night! That's the fate of your friends in sorcery, your magician buddies you've been in cahoots with all your life. They reel, confused, bumping into one another."

"None of them bother to help you."

  71. Hay look, we're not going to get anymore or
not much more. You're on your own...
Don't forget, George Bush and his Administration
got us into this mess. But, we're expected to
dig our way out of it. I want to know why he
    is still alive?
Tell the crime wave that they can get millions
by focusing on these assholes. Try targeting

I use to have strong Christian beliefs, but,
I don't want to vote. I want to see them all
dead so I can spit on their damn graves!
We've lost our careers, money, homes, cars, credit, retirement and even kids.

Oops, I have compassion for the victims in
Pakistan. I just hope we won't be sending
millions of dollars in aid there or anywhere else in the world when we have millions here who need help!

  72. GOD answered: "Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what's coming. It aches for the coming--it can hardly wait! And it doesn't lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It's on its way. It will come right on time. "Look at that man, bloated by self-importance-- full of himself but soul-empty.

But the person in right standing before God through loyal and steady believing is fully alive, really alive.

"Note well: Money deceives. The arrogant rich don't last. They are more hungry for wealth than the grave is for cadavers. Like death, they always want more, but all the 'more' they get is dead bodies. They are cemeteries filled with dead presidents, graveyards filled with corpses. Don't give people like this a second thought. Soon the whole world will be taunting them: "'Who do you think you are-- getting rich by stealing and extortion? How long do you think you can get away with this?' Indeed, how long before your victims wake up, stand up and make you the victim?"

  73. I have no words left because the tears are just running down mt face.:-(
I like many have lost my job,my car my house!!!
and still can not make my bills every month!!

  74. Atleast the thought of a Tier 5 is on the table. Unfortuantely, 99-weeks has a nice ring to it. For the record, 104-weeks is 2-years. Lot of commentators saying 99-weeks is two years and yee ain't being accurate.

  75. anonymous that said he would target them lolAugust 16, 2010 at 4:02 PM

Im very frustrated like everyone up here and i said those things because yes, i will target them i never said innocent people, but then again who is actually innocent anymore. This world is full of hate envy and greed, if a comet hit us tomorrow or the earth was swallowed into a black hole it would be better off. No one will every be happy and if they are its usually temporary. Think about were only here communicating because we are in need and our leaders basically turned their back on us towards the end of an already hard time in our life and now its only going to get worse.I'm paid off on all my bills for august and then thats it. I wont eat and i can survive off bagels and hot dogs, but as far as my rent and utilities go im screwed. Again i was blown off and not called back from an interview monday and one i had thurs said they would call me sometime this week. Thats 8 interviews this month with not ONE call back. I'm highly qualified for my profession and have 12 years experience and all my interviews go really well. I even offer to work for 8 dollars less an hour! and they still act like im nothing. I was going to tap into my social security but realized im 34 years away from being eligibile. My savings is gone, i have no gas in my tank. How do you think it makes me feel as an american when immigrants are let into our country with free everything because long term, their presence will benefit the government because they will work for nothing. Why do countries hate us? Because we hate us. I wrote the president, my govenors and senators in CT and not even an auto reply. I feel for you people that have families to support, i on the other hand am alone and still am struggling so i can only imagine what you people thats been off benefits for months are going through. So make sure you have a haiti fund link on your websites to make it look like your for human nature but continue ignoring and avoiding the millions suffering over your mistakes not mine.

  76. Fuck IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!----------------I GOT A GUN////////////////////////////////////////////////////

  77. People whose jobs have been unaffected by the current economy forget that all of us OUT OF WORK have paid years and years of taxes without collecting unemployment. MY MONEY that I paid into the system for over 20 years that I never collected unemployment or any government assistance on, is what I am entitled to. I went from making $62,000 a year ($1200 a week) to $480 a week. So tell me those of you who have children to support, what if you and your spouse were out of work, had 2 children and are renting an apartment because you cannot afford a would you make it on $480 a week in the State of NJ, which is one of the most EXPENSIVE states in the Country! I cannot afford to make $8 an hour and pay for my small apartment plus household bills, food, diapers and daycare expenses on $8 an hour! So dont tell us that are out of work that we are lazy and mooching off of you! I hope that one day you lose your job and cannot find another one after 100s of applications, no calls, no emails, no interviews, so that you and your ignorance can see what is really going on in this country outside of your comfortable BS bubble!

  78. Anonymous Aug 16, 2010 8:58am is right on the money.

Some of you have the notion that you can solve problems by throwing one politician and/or president out and put another in. You wont solve this crisis this way. Neither Obama or any other politician in Washington is running the game here. The global elite are the people collapsing the system on purpose to create their one wrold facist economic system. Their agenda is to destroy middle class america. This is a rich mans world where only the millionaires and billionaires can play. We can never play in their billion dollar playground because we aren't one of them, and they aren't one of us and because of that, they could care less about anyone below the rich man.

If you think its bad now, you aint seen nothing yet. It will get much much worse. Just wait to when all of our taxes go up beginning Jan 1, 2011; and let me tell you, this tax hike is designed to cripple every working middle class citizen.

For those of you that know nothing about Agenda 21 of the global elite, you had better wake up and get a clue. Obama aint the problem folks, he is just a puppet.

  79. Lets Return the Favor in November!!!!!!!

  80. GOD, how long do I have to cry out for help before you listen? How many times do I have to scream, "Help! Murder! Police!" before you come to the rescue? Why do you force me to look at evil, stare trouble in the face day after day? Anarchy and violence break out, quarrels and fights all over the place. Law and order fall to pieces. Justice is a joke. The wicked have the righteous hamstrung and stand justice on its head.

"Look around at the godless united nations. Look long and hard. Brace yourself for a shock. Something's about to take place and you're going to find it hard to believe. I'm about to raise up A New Tower of Babel to punish you, Babel, fierce and ferocious-- World-conquering Babel, grabbing up nations right and left, A dreadful and terrible people, making up its own rules as it goes.

  81. To Anonymous of August 15th, 7:55 PM

    Go Fuck yourself! Loser....

  83. Yeah I agree with Anonymouse @ August 16 5:27 PM. About the asshole on August 15th at 7:55. People like them have nothing better to do. Who really knows if it's true or not. I look at as IMMATURE.

Not everyone can find a minimum wage job. Especially people of the older generation who have loads of experience. I personally would take anything. But am looked over because I am OVER QUALIFIED.

There are some people out there that need to LEARN compassion. They obviously didn't learn it from their parents.

  84. Have a Great vacation you sanctimonious pricks !
People are losing their homes and can't feed their families because they have had any income while you are enjoying your second month off this summer. I sincerley hope you get voted out on your fat azzes this November, you surely won't have to wonder why !!

  85. i cant wait to vote in november, even though their crooked asses fuck with the votes anyway to get who they want in office, they will see a severe drop for their reelections in the poll. You want to fuck with our lives then we will unite and return the favor. You look at it as only a blog of loosers complaining for an extension, but what happens when you have several "loosers" from each state swaying people to vote in november against the hypocrites in office :)hmmmmm a chain reaction of non supporters. Mark my words if tier 5 doesnt pass soon and i loose everything i worked hard for, there WILL be vindication.

  86. It's absurd to hear some of the reasonings Republicans are against passing a tier 5. They stereotype all the unemployed as ppl that are look n for handouts and, as long as we r receiving such benefits we will not look for work. Of course, i could go on & on....but, some of their comments are not worth dignifying with a response. First of all, it's not just the middle class and poor that are unemployed....Republicans have lost their jobs and way of life too! So, to those that are blocking it's passage i say this to you...i've been a proud, hard working, law abiding, independent american / citizen all of my life and u have the audacity to group (stereotype) all the unemployed as being lazy, not seeking work, looking for handouts is very degrading. 99ers have lost their way of life, their livelihood and, now u want to take the only thing we have left our pride, humility & dignity and, force us to get down on bended knee and beg u to pass a tier u have not been able to see the urgency of passing this bill is mind bottling....yes, i'm writing alot bcuz, i have alot to say.....but, i will close by say n this....plz do not continue to insult the 99ers intelligence by say n we r not look n for work bcuz, we r content with receiving unemployment benefits. "99ers, are not living off of unemployment benefits......we are EXISTING!!!" There's a difference!!! Unemployment is a way of life, survival for ppl...most are already so far in debt anyway unemployment is not considered a bailout of sorts....u can't catch up on ur mortgage, car notes, credit card payments,'s all about survival now....just being able to continue to keep food on the table....that's all we have left.... the day we 99ers lost our jobs was the very day we lost our way of life.....our EVERYTHING!!! You continue to take vacations and, ur now on an extended month long vacation while we continue to suffer, worry & wonder when and if the bill will pass speaks volumes.....and, we the 99ers will speak volumes also with our vote in November..."We are 99ers Fedup...We are 99ers United!!!"

  87. The beginning of this article says it all! Handing out money to foreign countries but screw their own citizens. Anyone who has the nerve to complain about extended benefits is no better than our government! I do work and I feel lucky to have my job, but there are many people out here that need the benefits! Give it to them, OR THE GOVERNMENT needs to start creating jobs! I'd rather pay for unemployment benefits with my tax dollars than welfare!

  88. Neither Republicans (protect the "rich") nor Democrats (protect the "poor")will do anything to help us 99ers. We desperately need a viable third party that understands how the middle class is being destroyed.

  89. I started working at age 16.
Paying taxes and contributing to society, the American way of life.
But with the Great Recession times have changed and my government is neglecting me and treating me mean.

    The government helped the banks,
but now the fat cats at top are making the economy tank.

    What about the people.
    I shed a tear.
    What about the people,
we all should shed a tear.

Tier 5 is an American way,
    the American dream.
Give the people justice, fairness, and the pursuit of happiness so we don’t feel that the government wants us to go away.

  90. Look guys…..It’s over for us.
If you think help is coming, it’s not!!!!
Whatever you have lost or about to lose, you
won’t save it or regain it back.

The sooner you deal with the homelessness, pennilessness and despair, the better. This is how it is….
You are abandoned and forgotten by our government
who got us all into this mess in the first place and left to fend for yourselves any way you can. Might as well get use to it.
Even if the economy was on the road to recovery (which it isn’t), it would take years.

3-5 million have already lost their benefits and are either homeless or will be—like me with a college degree.
Things will only get worse now that lost unemployment benefits will not put money into the economy either.
Expect more slow downs, layoffs, and even less job opportunities with hundreds more applicants per job.

The order of today is survival, not living. Think
about how you can survive on the streets. Don’t
wait for the shock of finding yourself there this
afternoon or tomorrow morning. Accept and Plan now…

We are invisible subculture that wants to be forgotten and swept under the rug.

Be careful, if they pass a Tier 5 and you collect, you could be decreased or delayed in your Social Security benefits.

  91. Americans in need of additional UI extension benefits are not happy about it or the state of the economy. If we never worked (contributed) or were not willing to work, we would not have been elligable for assistance in the first place. Help the 99'ers NOW, before we join the ranks of the overlooked homeless in this great country. Great at the top.

  92. I won't make it until November. I have never been so scared in all of my life.
