Glenn Beck Rally Attendance and a Controversial Discussion

Glenn Beck's rally attendance discussions remain heated.  How many people attended Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally?  If you listen to CBS News, they say that 87,000 people attended.  If you read the comments on bulletin boards all across the Internet, hundreds of thousands of people attended.

The non-political event was held at the National Mall, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.  There was a call to return back to the values of our Founding Fathers- to remain the Christian nation we once were. Speakers such as Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and Alveda King entertained the crowds

Al Sharpton had a parallel rally called "Restoring the Dream."  Sharpton had sharp criticism over Beck's choice of date and venue, as it was the anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech.

The photos and videos of the rally show much more than 87,000 people.  Many are curious how CBS came up with that number.   Still yet, Glenn Beck's rally attendance remains a hot topic, and I am very curious as to what the Fox News commentator will say about it on his TV show later on today.

  1. Watching on Facebook, the largest number of viewers displayed that I wrote down was 130,363. I suspect there more than that on the mall.

  2. Apparently if you go past the reflecting pool; you are at 300,000. I wasn't there, but on the footage I saw they were well past the reflecting pool.

  4. High numbers must reflect, slacked jawed yokels, those staring at themselves in the reflecting pool. LOL

  5. 87,000 and that was counting their reflections in the pool. I'm surprised they could get 43,500 to show.

  6. I think that Beck bozo claims there were 500,000 to 1,000,000. This rivals the exaggerations of the million man march, which was still three times the size of this pitiful showing.... sad.

  7. I attended the rally on Saturday and I can confirm with 100 percent certainty that he crowd was at least 200,000 people. At noon people were still streaming into the rally and filling in the lawn in front of the national memorial. Under the trees at the reflecting pool, the crowd was so densely paced that moving around was nearly impossible. Simply amazing.....hell, there was 20,000 at the rally by 6am. And I wont even talk about how packed the metro was.

  9. CBS commissioned a flyover of the site by a 3rd party which provided the estimate based on the photos they took.

When reading about the event it said a lot of people had blankets or chairs set up...in the aerial photos you could see plenty of green mixed in with the crowd along the reflecting pool.

I'd believe 300K to past the reflecting pool for "Standing Room Only", but I don't think that was the case. I'd be willing to accept somewhere between the 87k and 130k (about 1.5 times that), but certainly not 300k. Nobody here in DC complained about the overwhelming mass of people, just Escalefters (stand right, walk left!).

  10. I was at the 8/28 rally and can say with certainty CBS is absolutely delusional if they think that only 87,000 people attended. I was seated on the lawn 2/3 of the way back on the mall and walked the area 20 minutes before the event started. I would estimate at least 400,000 at that time and could not believe the amount still streaming in and hour into the event. The mainstream media will never report the truth which is why they are no longer credible. Just listen to the people that actually attended if you want the truth.

  11. I was there. It is too bad that there is so little truth out in the media today. It is obvious that those who are reporting 87,000 didn't understand the message of this rally--HONOR!

  12. WAKE UP AMERICA lame stream media is anti GOD and anti Freedom. 87,0000.00 people which part of the crowd did they count????? Look at the pictures they do not lie. I was there with my family and it was a great start to our day. The real numbers will come out and they will be north of 500k that is certain, but who cares? We need to change this government in November when the real counting begins,so remember November and vote these liars and their friends out of office and business. Such a shame we have no real news networks anymore ABC CBS NBC have forsaken the truth for the devil.

  13. I was there. There was easily 500K. I was at the korean memorial and there was stending room only. Comparing the pictures of the obama inog and this event I would say that there was anywhere from 550K to 700K. That is undeniable no matter how much of a progressive beck hater you are.

  14. I was there also, you know the liberal media is lying about the numbers, that is to be expected, I would agree with the 500000 people or more estimate.
