Estimates range from 87,000 to over 500,000 so there's a significant gap somewhere in there. Politics as usual is playing a part in the controversy, and many say that the estimates from CBS news are accurate as stated at 87,000.
Others are calling BS, claiming hundreds of thousands were at the rally.
Despite the numbers the rally was a success. Anything Beck does remains a controversy, and therefore comes with it publicity. There was millions of dollars raised for the cause, and many of our readers have reported being inspired by what speakers such as Beck, Palin, and Alveda King had to say.
From the photos and the videos of the event, it appears as if there were much more than just 87,000 present. If you were at the rally, how many do you think were there?
i was at the rally and from prior event experience, I would estimate several hundred thousand. People lined the entire reflecting pool area overflowing towards Constitution Avenue and down all the way to the Washington Monument. This was not 'tens of thousands' this was defininitely 'hundreds of thousands' of attendees.
ReplyDeleteI was there, it was packed from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument. I mean packed shoulder to shoulder. It has to be over 300,000... hard to guess but it was the biggest crowd I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteI have been at several rallies in Ohio and in DC. Based on estimates of others and this one, I would be SHOCKED if there were less than 500,000 and would not at all be surprised if the numbers were closer to a million.
ReplyDeleteI was also at the rally. I have been to many UF games which bring 90,000+. There was over 500,000 people at the Glenn Beck event. What a great day for America.
ReplyDeleteI was at the rally and we discussed our estimates of attendance. Our estimates were approximately 700,000. The area of the reflecting pool was packed the parks on both sides thereof were packed and although there was plenty of room in the area of the Washington memorial there were still thousands of people in it.
ReplyDeleteA millions???? Puh Leese. I was there and would have guessed 250-300 thousand. A million indeed.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I attended the rally. I am no expert at estimating numbers of people, but I am sure that there was a minimum of 500,000 people. All the photos I have seen show people from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument and off to both sides. I was at the 9/12 event and I don't think it was as many as there.
ReplyDeleteI was at the rally and after having attended MANY events in that same area it is amazing to me that anyone would estimate that it was over 100,000. I've been at plenty of events that ranged from 50,000 to 200,000 and never heard anyone complain about those numbers being inaccurate and there is NO way that this rally came even close to the bigger events I've been to.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous (how convenient) said it was more than the 9/12 event? Ummm someone is dreaming there.
Seems like CBS is about right ... and can't see any reason they would lie. Contrary to the belief of so many that call them liberal - they aren't, they are just capitalist so not much reason to change these numbers as it won't effect how many people watch their news one way or the other.
i was there...there were not more than 100,000 people there! I was also at the inaguration where there were easily 10X as many people
ReplyDeletejulie said ....shame on you julie .....
ReplyDeletego to your room...shame
Interesting... Over 130,000 computers linked the event to watch on Facebook, a number which can't be fudged.
ReplyDeleteDid Reverend Sharpton have a need to broadcast his tantrum to an international audience? I didn't think so.
