99er Tier 5 Unemployment Extension After Recession is Over?

A 99er Tier 5 unemployment extension is called for, but “experts” say that the recession is “over.”  The news that the recession has, indeed, been over since June 2009 is rather shocking, considering that now, more than ever, unemployment extensions are needed.

I read a shocking piece in the Press Telegram from Long Beach, CA which reads that even though the “great recession” has technically ended, the US has more people living in poverty than ever before.

However, by claiming that the recession is over, the Administration and the politicians in Washington can try to slough the cries for extensions of unemployment benefits to the side, claiming that things are “getting better.”

That is indeed what’s happening.  Right now, the Americans Want to Work Act is pretty much just a stack of paper collecting dust.  The focus in Congress is on various other legislation, many of which are aimed at certain groups of people which the incumbents hope will come to the polls in November.

A rally is planned for 10/2 for an unemployment extension.  The march on Capital Hill should show Congress the sheer number of people in need of – and support of unemployment extensions.

The sad thing is that those in Washington are in denial.  They can crunch numbers and massage statistics to make everything appear to be “okay” when in fact you can’t lie about how people are feeling. You can’t lie to the people who don’t have a job and can’t find one, despite trying non stop every waking hour.

Will the 99er tier 5 unemployment extension be passed? Well, since the recession is “over” who knows. However, we can’t stop fighting the fight.

the whole body of the american government is corrupt and the corruption is so deep we need a revolution in this country to fix it, a coup d'état which means overthrow of a government by the people. thats what is needed.

  4. Ohhhh, this one is over the top for sure. just Who are these so called experts preaching this bullshit this time? Anyone can fluff a line of shit. Thing is they get paid big bucks for it and us 99'ers are out here hurting real bad. Hey, let's lay-off the experts and then ask for their thoughts 2 years later when they can't get back in the job market. How good is the economy now you morons?

There are NO jobs. I have been trying dilegently for over 2 years now-I can't land a $12 one and I can't land a $50K one. I used to make almost $60base salary per year. It is held against me that I haven't worked in 2 years. Why? I haven't lost my skill or my talents-in fact I'm rather refreshed and ready for new challenges. The only question these employers should have is can I get my ass up and go to work everyday and perform? Of course I can!!
    WTF!!!

  7. I Cannot believe both parties are throwing away 30-40 plus million votes and that number is probably conservative. This can only mean one thing, both sides are pandering to big corporations who are trying to push wages down.
The entire UI system is owned by fortune 500. Politicians put on a show during the day and then go and have drinks together at night and laugh thier collective asses off at all of us unemployed and employed.

  9. I believe the recession is in fact over but that doesn't mean that there are or will be enough jobs for everyone. The problem with the Republicans is that they think that when the stock market rises everything is fine but that is the way it used to be. Once upon a time the stock market mirrored industries expanding and hiring more people but not anymore. Today it only means that the factories American companies have overseas will be the ones expanding and humming along and not jobs for Americans.

Therefore, the recession may well be over but the only ones celebrating are foreign workers and not the people here at home. Until we end favored trading partners and make those factories stand in line as part of the quota system there will never be enough jobs here.

I will admit that neither party has been doing a steller job but the Democrats, at least, admit there is a problem. Vote the way you want but if you vote Republican just remember what eight years of Bush was like and that is what we will have again.

  10. Mexico Has Been Slowly Provoking Us & Destroying This CountrySeptember 23, 2010 at 1:37 PM

The Real “American Dream Act” Bill & Counter Attack

First bring back our soldiers from this Afghanistan war that is costly and going nowhere. Middle Eastern and Asians love to see us waste money and go broke fighting for freedom when they don’t really want it. This is their main weapon and we keep falling into their trap. Then we need to regroup military troops and military force to invade/overthrow Mexico’s government turning it into a U.S territory.
The new land will be used as an industrial/business commerce zone. U.S citizens will be able to by property and have a dual citizenship between U.S and Mexico. Mexico will keep its current currency and there current government will be demoted to local municipal law enforcement as long as they surrender to the U.S.
The U.S will be in full control of all laws, local law enforcement, and military control. The path to dual citizenship will require the illegal immigrants living in the U.S to serve in the U.S military for teen years… Along with completing the invasion/overthrow of Mexican government to expand U.S lands, business, and revive our economy. For Mexico citizen requesting to come to the U.S temporary worker programs and legal paths to citizenship & residence will be granted to those who qualify.

    Pass It On!!!

  12. piss on afghanistan and all these other middle eastern countries. if they want to blow each other up all the time then let them. bring back our soldiers immediately. the only problem is that when they come back to america there is no jobs for them. and congress wont help them out either because thier mentality is screw you and as long is they have thier pockets lined with cash they dont give a shit about who they are sticking it in the ass to, even soldiers that put thier loves on the line every day. the painful truth is that congress and senate, the white house and ALL politicians only care about themselves. but they will care when there are huge riotd right on thier doorstep in washington d.c. at the monument, at the senate and congress steps. THEY WILL CARE THEN WHEN THEY HAVE TO SHUT BOTH HOUSES DOWN BECAUSE OF HUGE RIOTS.

  17. Mass Riots and RevolutionSeptember 23, 2010 at 5:02 PM

A Revolution, a Coo, or whatever you call it seems to be forthcoming. I perdict such actions will begin mid-winter. The ENTIRE Goverment system is Broken, Corrupted and full of Evil Greed. Voting in November will not change a thing. Your time spent would be more productive preparing the best you can for very bad actions on the horizon.

  18. Let't have the riots and the revolution all over the country (Every states, Counties, Cities, etc.). Making sure we do not vote for any Republican Candidates in November 2010! Let's vote them out of the Congress asap!!! The Republican Senators and Congressmen/Congresswomen tried to block all of the Unemployment Extensions. Let's move them out from the Capitol Hill ASAP!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I agree about a Revolution is coming. I also believe the Goverment is aware. There will be an enormous amount of bloodshed once it starts which will probably be just as devastating as 9/11 if not worse.

They put the black man (ironically half black) fucking muslim in office to show the stupid assholes that we are a "free" country, promote GAY "Marriage" and other supposed important issues and take from our schools, religions, commerce, pockets, etc...

I could go on and on, I think most everyone understands it...

  36. I'd like to know if the House intends on including a clothing, shelter and auto allowance in the Tier 5 extension if they plan on implementing it after they address the next extension to continue current funding in November? I don't know how I could possibly interview for any position when all my material objects including wardrobe are sold with my unpaid storage unit that holds my belongings after the loss of my home and repossession of my vehicle. Great way to boost the economy and bring jobs to Michigan! That will bring the out of state companies and tourists pounding on our doors, bet they can't wait to relocate here so they can have the privilege of seeing even more homeless scattered through out the Interstate overpasses and downtown streets occupying even more abandoned houses. How much would it take for the average working class man to turn to a criminal act after losing his entire means of living and watching his family go hungry and homeless??? I heard Detroit wasn't the leading city in the crime poles anymore and it seems Granholm and the Congress aim to see we get our title back......
