99ers and 5 Tier Unemployment Extension Update

A 99er 5 tier unemployment extension update brings a bit of shocking news. There are some 99ers who are lobbying for a "no vote" on November 2nd. This, of course, is very shocking considering that the hopes of an unemployment extension would be jeopardized if the unemployed population does not vote.

There are two democratic bills proposed for the Tier 5 extension. Stabenow's "Americans Want to Work Act" is a pivotal bill which seeks to extend unePublish Postmployment for 20 additional weeks to those in states with over 7.5% unemployment. It also provides for a $2,000 tax credit for each employee hired - giving employers incentives to create jobs.

The Berkeley bill is somewhat less lucrative, but is "better than nothing." For states with over 10% unemployment, the bill seeks to add unemployment benefits, but there's no job creation measure.

For the most part, the Democrats are the only party lobbying for the unemployed. If there truly is a "no vote" by the 99ers, this will jeopardize the results of the election.

Currently, the GOP has a great chance of gaining back the House and the Senate in November. If this occurs, the expiration of current benefits is all but certain. The GOP filibuster of the unemployment extensions earlier this year made millions have to wait months for benefits to resume.

The unemployment extensions must continue, and a tier 5 needs to be created. THe only way to ensure that happens is to vote in people who support the bills.

  5. You know what as crazy as it sounds, but it is actually a smart move. Now I am not sure how many people that we actually have and how much of an impact it would make it no one voted on that day but it would send a message. I don't think there is a penalty for not voting, so I would be one of many who did not vote on this day.

The only way for people in power to understand is to hit them where it hurts and unfortunately it is a nasty game, but they have shown that the caring part of helping us is out the door.

So if we could get a no vote day, more power to us and maybe they will understand. I hear so many people talk about not having a job, loosing their homes, no way to feed their children and it is sad. Yes there are programs that can help you, but it is still sad.

I agree "NO VOTE ON NOV 2ND"

  6. Please think this over, by not voting we are being silent. Our votes are the only voice we have now. Don't give our chances away. You must Vote! I am losing my phone and DSL next week and my apartment in October. I need to vote to tell the powers that be that I will never forget how they threw us away. You must vote....

  7. Harry Reid made his choice when he decided that to target the needs of illegal immigrants over legal Americans who are suffering.

The democrats could easily pass a bill in the House and in the Senate it would have taken a little maneuvering or simply dipping into available TARP funds to have it passed.

Let us face the facts: Democrats will lose big. Democrats either know this or are delusional. Either way, they kicked 99ers to the curb.

If a 99er voted for a democrat after being treated like this, I truly have no sympathy for them. "No." vote is the best possible way to go.

Democrats are lying to the American people about the economy and jobs market.

  8. democrats could pass it now and that would get a lot of voters to revote for them. they have the seats now come november they might not.

  10. To the poster who wrote: "democrats could pass it now and that would get a lot of voters to revote for them. they have the seats now come november they might not."

Our Dems whom I've supported and voted for, have no backbone unfortunately! This is the problem as I see it and why we will lose the house. This country is a mess!

  15. Boycotting the election is stupid. the only chance for tier 5 and the rest of the extensions is to vote for the democrats most of them are for it. not voting is basically voting for the republicans who are against it then there is no chance for it. at least with democrats in congress there is still a chance. BE PATIENT .another thing is now that they have ended the war in Iraq the government should have more money now

  16. If you believe they are going to allow for a vote on a tier 5 after the election you must have believed them when they said they would vote one a tier 5 back in February and must have believed them when they said in may when they said they would address a tier 5 after passing 4213, and you must have believed them before they left for their last vacation when 3706 was introduced.
Do you still believe them? They obviously have no intention of helping us before or after the election, for that they must be fired

The only person who’s opinion matters is Harry Reid of Nevada, no action on a tier 5 unemployment extension can happen until Harry Reid of Nevada ends his filibuster against 3706.

If Harry Reid will not allow for a vote on the unemployment extension before the election we will make sure he joins us.

They have had all year to help us and so far all they have done is lie to us, we no longer believe the lies, if they do not vote for us before the election we will not vote for them.

I urge everyone to change their voter affiliation to independant, the parties have spent 2.3 Billin dollors analizing voter registration so far this year!

Changing your afilliation shows both parties how many votes they stand to gain or loose based on their vote on the unemployment extension, the monitor voter registration daily,
Its free to do and only takes minutes.

They need to know that if they do not vote for us before the election that we will not vote or them.

Until the politicians are held responsible for their lies... It's just that! A bunch of lies to get elected. If not, don't expect much of anything to change except for faces. Politicians are just actors in politics. DEM or REP they all have been trained in a form of a "Screen Actors Guild". Term Limits of 5 years MAX! Fresh Blood in government now!

  19. With the DOW surging and 99ers appearing to be disorganized and many not even contacting their
represnetatives, it is all but certain that we will be forgotten by CONGRESS.

The Columbus day holiday is coming up and all we hear is the TIER 5 is "in committee". This means that NOTHING is being done.

Its looking more and more like Republicans will win in November and then, yes, NOBODY will get an extension beyond November 30 - and you guessed it, the numbers will looking even BETTER as the rest of the unemployed "fall off the cliff" like the 99ers in April of 2010.

Its over people - give it up, we have no representation in Congress and they could care less about us as their salaries and raises and benefits are GUARENTEED buy us taxpayers.

If only the 99ers had a leader that could ORGANIZE us !

  20. If they was going to do a Tier 5 it would of happened already...There full of shit.. I will soon lose my home and have to Move... this Economy is no better.. I am a 99er as well and will be doing a No Vote... this is a total joke... you can send money to other Countries and aid Wars... yet you cant help your own people wow

No,I would never do that cuz I've been lucky on the battle field. I learned some great suvival skills and scored 98% on sniper training. It's sad to see what our military goes through so you can (have freedom)to jack off on your PC. The PC, that place where you talk tough and play out the roll of "Mordecai" and giggle...what a coward. You are no doubt a Bleeding Hart Liberal!

  23. What I can't understand is this: WHY IS THE SENATE SO DAMN CONECERNED ABOUT THE PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, WHEN THERE ARE LITERALLY MILLIONS OF FAMILIES SUFFERING HERE! I am also a 99er who paid taxes for the bulk of my working life and in these past two years I lost my: job, healthcare, car, behind on ALL my bills, and I can possibly be evicted from my home! WHAT THE HELL ELSE DO I HAVE TO LOSE! The jobs are not out there and you need money for going to job sites, or interviews. I also go to school on line in hopes to better the lives of my family along with myself and currently hold a 3.0 gpa! So I DON'T want to hear that the unemployed are lazy, spoiled drug addicts who are NOT motivated, which is BULLSHIT! We in fact DO want to work, I know about the rally on October 2, and the ONLY reason why I can't go is because my daughter is due to have her baby within days! Thank GOD, SHE at least has healthcare, but her husband DON'T! I get the distinct impression that the people who are running OUR country, csn't get their priorities straight and the bulk of them have the intelligence of a ROCK! I sincerely wish that President Obama would set fire to the Senate's behind to have Congress think about us for a change. DON'T WE FRIGGIN COUNT TOO? I sthis the thanks we get for voting your sorry butts in? I can't understand why the hell you need another break, (this time for 6 WEEKS). There is NOW WAY in hell you are that damn tired! Why, for you to campaign for more officials who screw us AMERICANS! I am NOT prejudice but that the hell, unless you speak in broken English, or NO English at all, WE HAVE A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL IN FINDING A JOB, AND IF YOUR ARE MIDDLE-AGED LIKE MYSELF, IT IS HARDER! You best believe this: I WILL HAVE MY SAY IN NOVEMBER BEFORE THAT RIGHT GETS STRIPPED FROM ME ALSO!

  24. Big Daddy is a big mouthed, azzhole who lacks social skills but he is right too! (not sure if he's real or not yet).
The 99ers did pay taxes and fees for 30 years (I have too and still do) but things have change today. They way you seek employment, the tools you use, the connections you contact, the training you (should of been keeping up on) all funnels into today's job market. Big companies now use staffing agencies for employee's. This way the Companies have no obligation for medical, 401K, Sick Time, Paid time off and injury claims. Their hands are washed like the infamous "Pilot" in the Roman day's. It's not fair but it is what it is. It's all about the all might buck.

  26. Please do not vote for any Republican candidates or Tea candidates!!!

The Tea Party, Coffee Party, Cognacs Party, Cigars Party, Animals Party, or the Porky Party are all related to the Republican Party!!! They shipped most of the jobs to overseas so the Rich get richer and the poor get poorer!!! They are going to screwed all of us, 99ers to be poor and poorer so they will tell us what to do!!!
They want to extend the tax cut from Bush Administration to the big Corporations and the Multimillionaires/Billionaires!!! While they blocked all of the Unemployment Extensions!!! They are blood suckers and very sneaky!!! This is the Principal Doctrine 101 of the Republican Party!!! Let's vote them out from the Capitol Hill in November 2010 asap!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Are you not aware that the Jackass's (Democrats) take advantage of the Bush Tax Cuts?
Do you know how many Democrats are Billionares and Millionares.
Your so involved in voting for a "Party" (tunnel vission} that you can't see the whole picture. Cant you see that the only difference between Dem and Rep is the name? Open you mind and eyes!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Tea Party has my vote! I work hard for my money and I don't have any plans on giving it away to someone that doesn't want to improve themselves and just do the daily routine.
I tired of having to look for a damn job every time the company want to outsouce oversea's.
I want my Country Back and the sooner that happens we'll all be better off. Who want's change? Well we got it so how do you like it now...yes it sucks! All you people that voted for Obama only excuses. Bush Sucked but at least the economy was booming and I had a job.
Then the Donkey change happend and I have to constantly be looking for a job and I'm F***ing tied of it. The Republicrats are in the process of dismantleing social security and if that happens are retirement years will be dismal.
You get out of life what you put in it. If you don't put anything into it, you get nothing out it. There "will not" be a government check for you whan you get old in the "Real Change-Hope" plan so being America back like it was!
Apply youselfs open you eyes so you have panaramic vision...

  32. Tell the congress we the people hired them and we are 5 million votes strong, and our vote counts, and however not for helping the 99ers come election day will be fired.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you noticed after elections they usually do the opposite of what they said, so GOP might pass Tier 5 and Dems not pass it. Damned if you vote Gop and damned if you don't. Misery loves company so might as well vote GOP, this way all the middle class who have jobs now ( and are against tier 5 ) can join us in poverty. Only when misery comes to the majority of people will anything change. So bite the bullet, vote GOP, let them destroy the rest of the middle class and lets see how that turns out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Why not vote in November and select "None of the above" This way no party wins, but our voice is heard that we are not happy with what is being accomplished and that our overall thoughts on those we have elected are not doing what they said they would do by stalling our economy. Stop the squabbling and come up with a solution to meet in the middle.

If Congress goes Republican, we are sure to lose, if its Dem, we stand a chance.

Don't be stupid and pout people, go vote for our best chance. If you do nothing, you are NOT part of any solution, you are removing yourself from the fight yet complaining about it.

Vote Dem, its not a certainty, but its the closest thing we have.

Oh and Tea Party - Just as eager to cut us off as Republican Party, that's a loss right there.

  39. We all need to march on every city we live in at the same time , talk about inpact.

  40. All we need is the support of 5 (1 in a perfect situation) democratic senators to guarantee the passage of 3706 before the election.

If 3 to 5 democratic senators would refuse to vote for either the continuing resolution or the war funding bill unless the unemployment extension is attached or passed as a stand alone bill the senate would be forced to extend unemployment benefits.

If the continuing resolution is not passed by September 30th the government will be shut down October 1, the Democrats will not let that happen right before an election. The republicans would love to see the government shut down by the majority right before the election which means most republicans will not vote for the continuing resolution. Three democrats refusing to vote for the continuing resolution unless a tier 5 is attached would force the government to shut down if a tier 5 is not passed.

Can we not find 3 democrats willing to help us? We only need 3 or at most 5 democrats to pass a tier 5.

If we can not find 1 democratic senator willing to help us we need to fire all of them along with the republicans
