A 99ers Tier 5 Benefit and Unemployment Extension Update

99ers Tier V unemployment extension hasn't been passed, and the benefits of such haven't even been discussed in the Senate. Although the Senate has reconvened in Washington, the focus is increasingly on the Tea Party and the GOP and not the American people.

Although the unemployment extension is one of the most important political topics, it is among the least discussed. This, of course, is disheartening for all those out there who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

The Bush Tax Cuts are the focus of legislation right now, as the Republican party wants it passed in its entirety whereas the Democrats only want to renew the middle class tax cuts. Some GOP members will not vote on a measure that doesn't extend the whole kit and caboodle, whereas others express that while they do want the whole thing passed, they will vote yes on a measure if it is the only available and only affects the middle class.

But still, no unemployment extension - either the current one that is expiring in two alarming months. Tiers 1-4 will once again be unavailable, leaving many Americans without the lifeline they need while they try to find work. We can pretty much forget about a Tier 5, or an Americans Want to Work Act.

The Americans who need the unemployment Tier 5 extension - the 99ers - need to keep fighting. This battle won't continue unless we keep it alive. Washington may be hoping that the 99ers "forget" about an extension, but I don't think that will be the case.

  3. This is beyond insane! I've been working professionally as an admin. asst. for over 25 yrs. Now at the age of 47 I'm unemployable!, damn near homeless and my bills are so far behind my credit is shot to hell. In the past two years I've been granted only two interviews after sending well over 200 resumes. I'm out of options and now I'm being ignored by my own government. This is absolute BULLSHIT!!

  4. This is the most useless blog I have ever seen in my life.Every single day you vomit up another completely useless, absolutely uninformative steaming pile of crap...it`s unbelievable. Do you morons actually get paid for this? You should be ashamed of yourselves. You lamely attempt to hook gullible, desperate people in with some lame, unoriginal, rehashed headline, followed by a lame post that contains absolutely no useful information whatsoever. You need to spend your obvious abundance of spare time doing something remotely useful...like lobbying congress to get off their asses and help the starving masses...instead of polluting the internet with your pretend news. You suck. If you dont have anything of worth to say(which you NEVER do) then keep your goddamned mouths shut.

  8. The high unemployment rate that the US is currently experiencing has a simple fix. An 8 year old running a lemonade stand could understand and fix the problem but the obvious solution is ignored due to politics.

Commodities that in the recent past sold for a certain price and no longer do would indicate that the current price is too high. Lower the price and the commodity will sell.

Labor is a commodity. It is not selling right now (high unemployment) so lower the price (end the minimum wage law) and it will sell again for price the market deems reasonable.

Try taking any commodity that is necessary and setting a minimum price for it and you will at some point see sales for that commodity slow or stop. What if the government passed a law that the minimum price for a gallon of gasoline was $6.25? Imagine what that would do to your personal finances and those of the nation. What if you tried to sell your car for twice the blue book value? It would probably be unemployed until it rusted into the ground.
So we can see that there are cycles in any market, prices go up prices go down. Prices will go up again but they must be allowed to complete their cycle, the market will make sure of that. It is simple cause and effect, not so different than raising the price of gasoline to $6.25. Since gasoline is almost as widely used a commodity as labor the effects of forcing the price up would be disastrous to the overall economy. This is why government interference in markets throughout history has never worked in the long run. End government price controls and the people can get back to business.

In my view the employer makes an offer of a certain wage to the worker and the worker can accept or deny. Likewise if the worker did not like the working environment they are free to not take that job.
As it stands the government has said; you, the employer are not allowed to offer anything below this price. And, you the employee are not allowed to work for less than this price. That is not freedom for either party.

Further evidence of my point is the youth unemployment rate, now at over 50% in the US. This is due to more adults taking jobs that pay less. The reasonable, fair and yes compassionate thing to do is eliminate the minimum wage law.

Tariffs on imported goods can be used to keep wages up in this country but lack of freedom in our own labor market is killing businesses and jobs in this country.

End government price controls and the people can get back to business. This country is supposedly “By the People and for the People, so let freedom return to the market

They will not do anything else until we raise complete hell and if that means some of us go to
jail so be it, maybe that will get the attention.
It will be a dam shame for us to be looked at in years to come as the Cowards afraid to stand and fight to preserve the way of life Our Forefathers fought for.
All this crap about calling, emailing, and writing Senators offices is a total waste of effort. They are doing nothing more than enjoying and laughing at what they are doing to the hard working folks of this country.
And the push on Voting in November: All you are doing is voting out old shit and voting in fresh shit. They all Suck and are only concerned about the elite.

But you are right, they SUCK and don't give a dam about us.

Until the politicians are held responsible for their lies... It's just that! A bunch of lies to get elected. If not, don't expect much of anything to change except for faces. Politicians are just actors in politics. DEM or REP they all have been trained in a form of a "Screen Actors Guild". Term Limits of 5 years MAX! Fresh Blood in government now!
    ************************************************************************
Fellow 99ers, below is just a partial reason to why we don’t have jobs after our many years of duty to our country.
Table 1 from the INS website shows the number of people coming in to the USA each year.
Our government allows our USA jobs to be outsourced in foreign countries while over a million people seeking American residency are allowed to come into the USA each year.
Even a complete moron can see why there are no real jobs in America today. The people we voted in to work for us only work on their own agenda’s not the American people.

PERSONS OBTAINING LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS: FISCAL YEARS 2000 TO 2008
    2000 = 841,002 2001 = 1,058,902 2002 = 1,059,356 2003 =703,543 2004 = 957,883 2005 = 1,122,257 2006 = 1,122,257 2007 = 1,052, 415 2008 = 1,107,126

Take a few minuets to ponder these numbers and then let our leaders lies echo in your minds. Today’s designed depression was a plot that worked to bring down the pay scale in America. What a brilliant disguise!
    *********************************************************
NAFTA, well thanks Bill Clinton. You got millions from the Asian nations and that's why your daughter had a $10 million wedding. But I had a job...right on!
    *********************************************************
WMD, Well thanks George W. Your an oil man and made millions off big business.
The last 10 years was booming! But I had a job...Right on!
    *********************************************************
Great Depression, Well Thanks Barak Obama. Your a Real Change man and made millions off your book and the ACORN community. Today the economy is tanked and now I don't have a job. That’s not right on! All the IT years of schooling, training and experience has went to waste since anything computer related can be outsourced to another country for less money and our Commander in Chief doesn’t seem to care.
    *********************************************************
Clinton = NAFTA = jobs over sea’s! Millions for own income.
Bush = No WMD and War = Billions of $ over sea’s! Millions for own income.
Obama = Depression and no jobs in America = Billions of $ over sea’s! Millions for own income.
Now there is no reason for the Obama voters that received “Real Change” to defend your voting record or Obama’s depression...it just is what it is!

Get your affairs in order and consolidate and keep applying. The holidays and winter are around the corner.

They are currently trying to pass the DREAM "Amnesty" Act of 2010 & working on tax increases after the Bush tax cuts expire.

99's we are not on their agenda any longer. I would think helping out Americans would be their first priority..I was wrong.

Giving Amnesty to illegals takes a higher priority than suffering Americans.

We don't have any more tears to cry so no more of the same stories about I lost my job and boo, hoo, hoo!

Pickup yourself, your not the big man any more, you are the little man now that is going to rise up and be the big man once again. Remember that "Its the calm before the storm and the storm before the calm".

I haven't been paying my monthly bills in a couple months and I can't anymore since losing my unemployment, car insurance, and anyway to get around to look for work and I live in a very small town. Only people calling me are creditors and trust me, they're not gonna see a dime anytime soon from me. I just can't pay anybody. I had to move back home with my parents at 32 after losing my place and 65k a year job. Life is good. Just give up on the teir 5 aleady, I have. It's simply not gonna happen

As for me, I've given up and my plan is to go to school on a government loan, eat Ramen noodles a lot, and after I finish make plans to move to Canada. Hopefully I can last for 2 academic years. If not, well then I already have my tent, etc.

Tier 5 is not going to happen because the bastards don't give a rat's ass and they control the media.

He said that he has had a “hiring” sign up for six months and he gets plenty of people coming in the door and what they want is their paperwork signed that verifies that they have been looking for a job so that they can continue to get their unemployment benefits. He said he has tried to interest numerous of these individuals in a job and they tell him that when their unemployment benefits run out they will check back with him but until then they are doing fine.

The CNN reporters where just shaking their heads but this points to the problem with becoming lazy and dependent on the government–it is thankfully coming to an end soon with the elections. The taxpayers are done with being scammed.

Lets argue over 50 Billion to help US citizens.Lets legalize illegals they need jobs,So they can take US citizens jobs.Since our economy unemployment is closer to 24% with Illegals becoming legal will be closer to 34% of Americans.Give it 4 years it will be up to 40% of the US.Just hope your not in the 40% range if so good Luck your on your own.Lets all blame Bush, the news told me so.But when I studied the subject it was Barney Frank who collapsed the housing market.A Tier 5 would never stimulate our economy. So lets just keep given to foreign nationals and nations
