[PROP 203] Arizona's Proposition 203, Medical Marijuana, Passes

[PROP 203] Arizona's Proposition 203, Medical Marijuana, Passes. Arizona's proposition 203, medical marijuana passes. Proposition 203 makes Arizona the 15th state to enact the legalization of marijuana - a big deal considering just days after the election we thought that the measure failed.

The vote count for Arizona's proposition 203 was like a game of cat and mouse. The failing vote would lead, and then at the end the measure passed by a slim margin of just over 4,400 votes.

In neighboring California, Prop 19 failed as the people of California shockingly rejected the passage of widespread pot legalization.

The state has 120 days to come up with mandates over the regulation of medical marijuana. So far, we know that there will only be 1 dispensary per 10 pharmacies, and that only if you live more than 25 miles from a dispensary can you grow your own.

The state will review applications for dispensaries, and then also for patients. It's not expected that medical marijuana will be available in the state before April of 2011.

What are your thoughts on Prop 203 - Arizona's medical marijuana statute's - passage?

Prop 203: Arizona Proposition 203 Medical Marijuana Passes

Prop 203: Arizona Proposition 203 Medical Marijuana Passes. Prop 203 showcased once again that every vote counts. Arizona became the 15th state to legalize medical marijuana, even in the midst of California voters rejecting Prop 19, or the legalization of pot throughout the state, altogether.

Now, citizens of Arizona will be able to purchase up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana for personal use every two weeks, and will be able to grow their own marijuana for medicinal purposes if they live more than 25 miles away from a dispensary.

In addition, there can be 1 dispensary for every 10 pharmacies, ensuring that illicit sales of marijuana are minimized.

In order to get a "presciption" for the drug, someone must have a debilitating disease and get a note from a doctor. Although Prop 203 legalizes medical marijuana in Arizona, pot remains illegal at the federal level.

What are your thoughts on Prop 203's passage.

Arizona's Proposition 203 Passes, Medical Marijuana Allowed [PROP 203]

Arizona's Proposition 203 Passes, Medical Marijuana Allowed [PROP 203] Arizona has become the 15th state to allow the use of medical marijuana. Earlier we reported that Prop 203 didn't pass - or at least appeared to have not passed. After counting absentee ballots Prop 203 passed by a slim margin of just over 4,400 votes.

That is just another reminder of why it's important to VOTE. Every vote counts.

The law allows up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana every two weeks, and there can be only one dispensary per 10 pharmacies. If you live 25 miles or more from a dispensary, you can grow your own personal use marijuana, but only if you have a prescription.

Oregon's Ballot measure 74 did not pass, but the reason was that there were concerns that the failure to limit the number of dispensaries allowed in the state would encourage illicit sales.

Prop 19 in California, which would have legalized marijuana across the state, failed, although by a relatively narrow margin.

Are you glad that Arizona's Proposition 203 Passed, and that Medical Marijuana is Allowed in Arizona? [PROP 203]

[AZ] Arizona Prop 203 Results Available?

[AZ] Arizona Prop 203 Results Available? Another marijuana legalization measure was on the ballot during the 2010 mid term elections. Arizona prop 203 would legalize marijuana in the state of Arizona, but appears to have failed by a very, very narrow margin.

This again signifies why every vote counts.

Among other things, Prop 203 would create not only a way for suffering individuals to seek some relief from their symptoms, but would bring in tax revenue to the state and would also reduce the amount of money heading to Mexico and hopefully bring down drug crimes.

In addition, Prop 19 was defeated in California, which would have become the first state to widely approve the use of marijuana by all citizens, an not just for medical purposes.

It seems that given the narrow margins, marijuana usage is a bi-partisan issue that people are still resistant to. It's sad, but it appears as if Prop 203 has failed. Bummer.

[203] Arizona Prop 203 Results [UPDATE]

Arizona's Prop 203 failed, making it yet another marijuana based measure to fail. Jan Brewer, the governor and governor elect of Arizona was against the measure. She won by a landslide, yet the vote failed by just over 6,500 votes.

Every vote counts, people - and this is why!

Passing medical marijuana laws in Arizona would be able to clear up a little bit of the war on drugs in the state which borders Mexico. It would add to the economy, and keep money in the US rather than sending it across the border.

However, it didn't count, and chances are there were a lot of people who wanted it to pass but didn't make it out to vote.

However, Prop 203 failed. Bummer. Another one bites the dust...at least in 2010.
