CA's Proposition 19 Results Dictate A Loss [PROP19]. People of California have spoken, and proposition 19 did not pass. California's proposition would have legalized marijuana throughout the state of California. Given that pretty much every race in this fabulous state had at least some national importance, nothing was as controversial as Prop 19.

Supporters are quick to point out that the proposition would bring in funding to a state which needs it more than anyone. However, one weakness is that localities - not the state in general - was responsible for setting the tax rates. This opens up the possibility of price wars.

In addition, Prop 19 opponents are quick to point out that unlike breathalyzer tests, there's no easy way to determine if someone is under the influence of marijuana. However, urine tests do detect the drug in someone's system - but for a long time. Proving that someone was smoking weed, high, or something at work or during an accident would be hard to prove.

There are a lot of things to work out before weed becomes legal. For now, California's prop 19 has failed. What are your thoughts?

The results will pave the way for legalization of marijuana across the country as a whole. However, the legalization of pot won't come without controversy. Some say that Prop 19 will be a "cash cow" for California. Others claim that the so-called tax base will be non existent as municipalities will be able to effectively "price out" each other from the market.

Still yet, some say that legalizing marijuana will allow law enforcement to focus on bigger drug issues, such as those posed by meth, coke, and crack. In addition it will keep money that is typically sent to Mexico in the illegal drug trade inside the US.

Prop 19 Polls Against Marijuana Legalization? Hell just froze over. Prop 19, or the marijuana legalization ballot measure is losing support in the state of California. Where one would think that this would be a sure fire political victory, it's losing support.

Bloomberg reports that a Field poll indicates that 42% support Prop 19, whereas 49% are against the measure. There's a margin of error of about 3%, and if you add up there's still an undetermined amount of likely voters. This one could go either way folks.

The measure is proposed to create an economy within California, thus raising taxes and boosting morale.

But hey...how productive would workers REALLY be if they could smoke dope? Think about it...in California are they going to have their 10:00 pot break, or would the work day start somewhere around noon?

California's "Proposition 19" got an unorthodox endorsement on Friday night. Zach Galifianakis, the bearded comedian featured in "The Hangover" appeared to have lit up a joint while on set with Bill Maher.

Proposition 19 would call for the legalization of marijuana in the state of California, in an effort to raise much needed tax revenue. Proponents of the bill state that it would reduce crime, cut back on drug related crimes, and drug related arrests - thus helping to ease the spending on law enforcement while creating tax revenue.

Opponents of Proposition 19 claim that making pot accessible to the masses will increase addiction, decrease employee productivity, and more.
