Prop 19 Loses [DID NOT PASS]

Prop 19 loses - DID NOT PASS - in California. I'm bummed. Not that I live in California, but I find the whole prospect of legalizing marijuana interesting. Although I don't partake in the drug personally, I find the whole prospect of legalization intriguing.

After all, think of the MILLIONS of dollars that are heading south of our borders each year to pot famers in Mexico? That would create a wonderful tax base for the United States, wouldn't it?

Maybe not good enough. The prop 19 lost, despite national attention and suspected massive support.

Field polls leading up to the election weren't in favor of the measure. The "yes on Prop 19" campaign really didn't do a great job informing the public on the bill, as many had questions over 1) what would happen to current medical marijuana patients, 2) how the State would deal with the Federal government, who vowed to "vigorously enforce" federal laws against "legal" pot peddlers, and 3) how cannabis would be taxed.

I think if Prop 19 is tightened up, and questions answered it will end up passing in the future, paving the way for legalized pot throughout the country.

Although prop 19 loses, it actually really did not pass but did win in a sense by bringing up dialogue.

Prop 19 2010 Poll Results

Prop 19 2010 poll results are disappointing, to say the least. The 2010 Prop 19 poll results have been tallied, and it's still illegal to smoke marijuana in the state of California. Despite many potheads across the country crossing their fingers in the hopes of the measure passing, it hasn't.

However, Prop 19 has paved the way for an open discussion about legalizing marijuana about the same way alcohol was re-legalized in the wake of prohibition.

Also available in California are the Governor and Senate race results. Joe Brown, the governor who served 30 years back won his old job back. In addition, Carly Fiorina was defeated by Barbara Boxer, who is keeping her Senate seat.

But the biggest blow of them all is prop 19. The Prop 19 poll results 2010 were disappointing, but to be honest with you - I saw it coming. See a video about Prop 19 here.

Prop19 Loses!

Prop19 Loses! California's pot legalization measure has failed, according to results coming in from major media sources. Prop 19 would have allowed people in the state of California to possess small amounts of marijuana for their own personal use.

The nation watched with bated breath, but the measure didn't pass. However, I think this is the way the bill was crafted more than a general sentiment over smoking pot.

The legislation as written gave the power to set taxes to municipalities. In essence counties and even cities could have price wars to effectively price each other of what would likely be a very lucrative market.

If the legislation is tightened up and people educated about the initiatives and the true effect it would have on the state/local government budgets, the outcome could change in future elections.

Are you bummed that Prop19 loses?

Prop 19 Poll & Status

Prop 19 Poll & Status. People in California are awaiting the Prop 19 poll and status, hoping that the medical marijuana measures will pass. The Prop 19 poll does favor the opposition, but there's still a glimmer of hope that the Prop 19 measure will, indeed, pass.

Prop 19 is the legalization of marijuana, which would allow people to have a small portion of the drug for personal consumption. With millions of dollars heading to Mexico in the illegal drug trade, the hope is that the state of California will benefit from a new tax base.

The prop 19 poll isn't favorable, but it opened up a dialogue. Could it be that a drug will become legal in the foreseeable future?

Prop 19 got national attention, although not much money was spent on its campaign. Perhaps that's the reason why the Prop 19 poll & status aren't favorable?

Proposition 19 Results [PROP 19]

Proposition 19 Results [PROP 19]. Proposition 19 results are expected to be a loss to those who want marijuana to become legalized. However, it's still early in the game so it's not like it's a sure-fire loss for proponents.

The results will pave the way for legalization of marijuana across the country as a whole. However, the legalization of pot won't come without controversy. Some say that Prop 19 will be a "cash cow" for California. Others claim that the so-called tax base will be non existent as municipalities will be able to effectively "price out" each other from the market.

Still yet, some say that legalizing marijuana will allow law enforcement to focus on bigger drug issues, such as those posed by meth, coke, and crack. In addition it will keep money that is typically sent to Mexico in the illegal drug trade inside the US.
See the Proposition 19 results video below.

Prop 19 Election Results 2010

Prop 19 election results 2010 aren't available yet, but they will by by the end of the night. Prop 19 is one of the most widely watched ballot measures, not only in the state of California but throughout the country as well.

Prop 19 calls for the legalization of marijuana, not just for medicinal purposes but also for casual and personal use as well. Believe it or not, Field polls leading up to the Prop 19 election have pegged that it will NOT pass. The polls show 42% support as opposed to 49% opposition.

No matter what happens, supporters of the bill note that it at least has opened a dialogue. If Prop 19 does pass, it might face some opposition from the Federal government. However, it could pave the way for more states to legalize marijuana.

What do you think? Should the Prop 19 election results be positive or negative?

California Marijuana 2010 Proposition Debates

California Marijuana 2010 proposition debates are rolling in. Should California's marijuana proposition, aka Prop 19, pass? Some are saying that the legalization of marijuana across the broad public would be a good thing.

There are some who say that the California's marijuana proposition would create an economy for a state which is suffering 12.4% unemployment. In addition, it would help raise tax revenues for the California state government.

Those against the measure claim that it will inspire drug abuse, bring down worker productivity and increase crime. Arguments that the marijuana legalization will take a product off the black market fall on deaf ears.

The debate will continue for the next few hours or until the polls close tonight. Then, if it passes or fails will open up more debates in the future.

California Marijuana Update: Prop 19 Pass or Fail?

California Marijuana Update: Prop 19 Pass or Fail? California's Marijuana legalization proposed measure Prop 19 could pass or fail today as California voters head to the poll. Although this is a legal issue only for the state of California, passage of the bill could open up debates throughout the country.

If marijuana legalization is passed in California, other states could try to pass the same measure, and throughout the country pot could become legal.

Many of the same arguments exists between legalizing marijuana today and legalizing alcohol towards the end of prohibition. Some say that abuse will become more prevalent, and children will have access to the California ballot measure.

PROP 19 News & Updates

PROP 19 News & Updates: Prop 19 is California's ballot measure which seeks to legalize the sale and consumption of marijuana. Prop 19 is losing support, which is really quite shocking. Despite Prop 19 getting shut down today, if that does occur, it's opened up a dialogue that many hope will lead to the legalization of marijuana.

Many of the same arguments against the legalization of marijuana were present back during the days of prohibition when alcohol was outlawed. The legalization of marijuana will take something from the black market, make it legitimate, open up possibilities for economies and also a tax base for various state and local governments.

Of course, marijuana will remain illegal in the federal government's eyes. How this impacts the state's decision to legalize marijuana has yet to be seen.

Below see an overview of Prop 19. DO you support prop 19?

Prop 19 Polls Against Marijuana Legalization?

Prop 19 Polls Against Marijuana Legalization? Hell just froze over. Prop 19, or the marijuana legalization ballot measure is losing support in the state of California. Where one would think that this would be a sure fire political victory, it's losing support.

Bloomberg reports that a Field poll indicates that 42% support Prop 19, whereas 49% are against the measure. There's a margin of error of about 3%, and if you add up there's still an undetermined amount of likely voters. This one could go either way folks.

The measure is proposed to create an economy within California, thus raising taxes and boosting morale.

But hey...how productive would workers REALLY be if they could smoke dope? Think about it...in California are they going to have their 10:00 pot break, or would the work day start somewhere around noon?

Just sayin...

'Prop 19' California Legalization of Marijuana

'Prop 19' California Ballot Measure would legalize the smoking of marijuana in the state of California. It would allow individuals to have a small amount of pot for personal use, and would mandate the sale and taxation of the popular, and currently illegal, recreational drug,

Needless to say, Prop 19 is controversial. Opponents of the bill claim that the state should not legalize marijuana because it will make it more accessible to children, and inspire more abuse of the drug.

Proponents of the bill note that it will help create a new source of revenue for the state of California, and create a new economy as well. It should crack down on crime, as it will no longer be a black-market only product.

Medical marijuana patients in California currently worry about how Prop 19 would affect them.

More recently, Zach Galifianakis from "The Hangover" lit up a joint in support of Prop 19 on Bill Maher. Click here to see a video

California Pot Referendum: A Boost For Democrats?

California's Pot referendum, or "Prop 19" will be a ballot measure that is watched during the 2010 mid-term elections. If California legalizes marijuana for everyone to use - not just medical marijuana - then it could open up the possibility for Pot to be legalized throughout the country.

Even though you would think that Prop 19 would be pretty much a no-brain winning ballot measure, there's still a lot of controversy around it. With the Democrats and Republicans neck and neck in many of the crucial races of California, the Democrats could stand to gain a lot from this high profile ballot measure.

How? Of the people most excited about prop 19, many of them are under the age of 30. Traditionally, people under 30 will vote democrat.

The California Pot referendum, aka Prop 19, will be something to watch this election day. Maybe, just maybe, it will also help the democrats eeek by their GOP opponents.

Supporters say that legalizing marijuana will help close the looming budget gap experienced in California.

Opponents say that legalizing marijuana will increase crime rates and make the currently illegal substance easy to access for children.

The Federal Government reminds people that marijuana is still illegal at the federal level. The government says they won't rule out legal action if Prop 19 passes. See the legal marijuana ad below:
