9/11 quotes and sayings are something many want to remember today. Remembering the 911 terrorist attacks is very important for every American. This year, 9/11 is met with even more tension between the US and the Muslim society. Even the Muslim community within the US has been met with anger and animosity.
The 9/11 mosque 300 yards from the WTC Ground Zero is something that is unacceptable to many Americans. Although legal, the appropriateness of placing a muslim place of worship so close to the site where many Americans lost their lives is controversial.
In addition, a pastor in Florida wishes to burn the Quran today - he's called off the event, then has since stated that the burning of the Quran is only "suspended" at this time.
Here are some 9/11 quotes and sayings for today's memorial.
“Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward and freedom will be defended.” “We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail,” George W. Bush
"Are you guys ready? Let's roll!" -- Flight 93 passenger Todd Beamer, apparently as a signal to other passengers to attack the hijackers, Sept. 11.
"This mass terrorism is the new evil in our world today. It is perpetrated by fanatics who are utterly indifferent to the sanctity of human life, and we the democracies of this world are going to have to come together and fight it together." -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Sept. 11.
"Commending the victims to almighty God's mercy, I implore his strength upon all involved in rescue efforts and in caring for the survivors." -- Pope John Paul II, Sept. 11.
"We completely condemn this very dangerous attack, and I convey my condolences to the American people, to the American president and to the American administration, not only in my name but on behalf of the Palestinian people." -- Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Sept. 11.
"We will find those who did it. We will smoke them out of their holes. We'll get them running, and we'll bring them to justice." -- Bush, Sept. 15.
"Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded ... as a hostile regime." -- Bush, Sept. 20.
"I may never be normal again. But this is my life now. I have to live it." -- Manu Dhingra, 27, a securities broker who suffered burns over a third of his body but was released from the hospital Oct. 2.

Thank you for this post. This is a day of profound sadness. Let us remember the victims of this attack and their loved ones in our prayers. Let us also remember that we live in a country that can suffer great blows and emerge stronger than it was in every way.
ReplyDeleteI will never forget that day. I was in my 7th grade 1st period music class when I found out. 4 years later, we were learning about it in history books. I still think of those who lost family members and friends to this day. It is such a terrible thought to know that this could happen to our country, anywhere, anytime. Always remember to tell your loved ones how much you care every time you see them. Some tragedy may happen and you never know when the last time you will see them can be.
ReplyDelete9/11 all we hear is cry's yelling for help people crying because there love ones have died and we remember this day like it was yesterday so many life's taken because of ones jealousy and hate for your country they go for where they can kill the most to where the most pain would be made but we remember this day and give a moment of quietness to love on these people who's life's were taken because of ones jealousy and hate
ReplyDeleteI wish that people were more mindful that this will happen again.... It is only a matter of time. We like to lull ourselves into a false sense of security b/c it has been so long since the last attack. Their hatred has not died away; they have not forgotten. Let us also never forget! and stay vigilant.

ReplyDeleteI recall being in a first grade class and all of the teachers left. They came back, and we were sent home. We had heard something about what had happened, but being children, knew nothing of its implications.
