Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity Draws Satellite Rallies Around America

Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity and Steve Colbert's March to Keep Fear Alive are drawing satellite rallies around the country. Approximately 140,000 people have confirmed they will be at the Ocotober 30th rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, and there are many more who would love to go, but can't.

The rally and march is a parody of Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor rally, which was actually a "non-political" fundraiser for a non-profit that benefits the troops in Afghanistan. Although the rally was "not political" it was held at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on the same day as the anniversary of the Martin Luther King, Jr "I have a Dream" speech. Alveda King, Dr. King's niece, was present at the Beck Rally.

Also present was Sarah Palin. Many liberals criticized the rallies as a disguised Tea Party event. The rally was blogged about for over a week after its conclusion, and to this day there's not a straight answer on the attendance at the rally.

Given that the Jon Stewart rally is drawing satellite audiences around the US, it will be hard to tell how many people attended either in person or via these satellite parties. Still yet, the Jon Stewart rally and Steve Colbert March are poised to be successes.
