New Planet Discovered 2010; An Earth Like Planet Found?

A new planet discovered 2010 is making headlines. The new found planet is called Gliese 581G, and it's really an exciting discovery. It's located in the so-called "Goldilocks Zone" where the temperatures are just right to sustain life. There are marked similarities between Gliese 581G and our very own planet earth, as they both go around a red dwarf star.

To get to the new planet discovered in 2010 it would take HUNDREDS of years. That means that no living person today will likely visit the planet, although scientists may try to study it and find out more about its environment. We may even send a message to them, to see if we can get a response. Any response would surely indicate that intelligent lifeforms were there.

This is a breakthrough, and an amazing discovery. Although the planet is 20 light years from earth, that's relatively close in space terms. There's an endless supply of solar systems, planets, and stars we have yet to discover. When a new planet such as Gliese 581g is found it's always a welcomed thing.

  1. This planet could indeed have an advanced form of life. Because its sun is much smaller then ours it means that it is much older. Which means that gliese is much older than our planet, maybe a few billion years after it was formed life began there, way before the earth itself was made. Which means that if there were life there, they could have evolved and became more advanced than we are today because of the time that they were given. this in my point of view is a very good thing, because if the time comes where we need to leave earth and find another planet the could have the technology of picking us up and taking us to their planet, because it would take us thousands of years to do it our selves. But then again this is a very abstract idea which has a low possibility of coming true, but still it has a small chance.

  2. could this be the missing planet that the Mayans and Sumerians were talking about ? and how has it taken this long to be discovered ? is this in fact nibiru or planet x making its 360,000 orbit of earth ? perhaps in the next year or so we may see this planet getting nearer, after all if its just visible i doubt they could determine just yet that it is planet x and is slowly approaching earth.......only time will tell but history left behind tells us of what is to come and to me it looks very very true

  3. i agree i believe its planet x, which is orbiting our planet and the reason we have been told is because its now visible to amateur astronomers and people will know soon enough, looks like 2012 is still on and now proof is space

  4. I believe there will be a way to get to the planet in few years, may be to reduce the length to like ten years travel. Or we are heading to the hell fire and heaven pronouncement as in the bible from the two planet; the Earth that we are living now and the new found planet 581G.
It is a welcomed discovery...but we never can tell what the planet is all about yet though it is established that it supports life forms.

  9. I don't know why but this actually scares me,I can't stop and look a this discovery from a relegious point of view. It creeps me out the fact that there is possible living in this new planet, the thought of 2012 actually beeing a possibility. So yeah, This makes me want to believe that there is life beyond our reach, that spirits, demons, god exist and that there is a purpous of us beeing alive that we got to accomplish something in order for greater life on the other world.

  11. well read the bible and look at all the facts from scientists... the truth written many thousands of years ago is all coming true do you really think that life has no meaning..? think beyond and believe in more than yourself.

  13. With the exception of few posting on this thread... did u even read the article? why be scared of 2012? that's dumb the end of the world could be tomorrow much less 2012!! and why do u all think its planet Niburu?? i mean don't you think the scientists that study these things would've said "hey wait a sec, we already discovered this!" Also yes it is very likely for Gilese to harbor life but whereas our planet rotates, this one does not one side is always facing the star hence always daylight, the other, night. The temperatures vary between 10 and negative 24 degrees Fahrenheit, so that could be compared to a nice Antarctica summer day! However there is a possibility of life on this planet weather it be plant or other. It excites me to think about this and i wish we could push for more information and stretch for more discoveries in space it all is truly amazing.
