One Nation Rally Attendance Bigger than Glenn Beck Rally? [PHOTO]

The One Nation Rally which transpired on Saturday is the talk of the political circles. After the Glenn Beck rally, it only made sense that the liberal demographic would stage their very own event. However, it appears as if the attendance figures for the one nation rally are actually far less than Glenn Beck's rally attendance.

Now, there will be people that argue until they are blue in the face. However look at the photograph here - one of the photos were taken at Beck's rally and the other was taken at this weekend's One Nation rally. Tell me which crowd appear larger?

However, no one is releasing totals on the attendance of the One Nation rally. One non-partisan satellite imagery company issued an estimate of 87,000 for Beck's rally attendance, although he claims more like 500,000 attended. The One Nation organizers claim that 175,000 to 200,000 came to their rally.

The politics are heated, and therefore we won't have a concrete total from the rally. Whose rally was better, Beck's or One Nation? It all depends on who you ask.

What attendance do you think was better - one Nation or Glenn Beck?

  1. You say you are an unbiased site, but I have to wonder. You need to post the time of day the pictures were taken, because I was there on 10/2/10, and your picture looks like what it looked like around 10am, 2 hours before the rally started. Anyone visiting this site, at 1pm, the entire space from the Lincoln Memorial to the road behind the WWII Memorial and reflecting pool was packed with people. There was no space inside the WWII Memorial--it was entirely filled with people. When you looked behind you at the Washington Monument, streams of people were still coming from every direction. Everyone, EVERYONE I saw was positive, cheerful, and optimistic. It was an amazing experience, shared by a very large number of people!

  2. I agree with Professor Mom's comment. I have seen photos of the One Nation rally and they look nothing like the picture you have posted. Would you answer her question and state the time your posted photo was taken?

  3. 'Positive, cheerful, and optimistic experience' ?? If you a want Socialist or Communist society. Did you read all the signs and literature? We fought Russia because this was wrong and now you want this for our country. We live a free country.

  5. Please post the pictures of degrading our Memorials with the trash surrounding them and of American flags thrown on the ground during and after the event!

  6. Professor Mom, I have a question you might be able to answer. Why did this rally leave trash all over the Lincoln Memorial and WWII grounds? There were union and demonstration signs and trash everywhere. These are the people who are saying they care about our country? Also, please address the openly communist and socialist groups that were in attendance in large numbers. I watched both rallies on CSPAN and also watched the One Nation rally on MSNBC on multiview, since I thought they would give more positive coverage. Both channels seemed to be showing similar pictures with the population never filling up the sides of the wading pool area except when people were making their way down to the Lincoln Memorial before the start of the rally. I also noticed that many left the rally long before it ended and looked bored and inattentive during the rally (texting, etc). Many of the speakers seemed to be angry and shouting, only a few spoke calmly and only one that I heard, had a message of uniting the country and healing. I'm glad the rally was a positive experience for you and others. I hope that you can take your positive feelings and express them to the people who took part in the rally to help them find a way of bringing our country back together instead of dividing us. I don't recall any group being called "evil" during the Restoring Honor rally. I think that most Americans, whatever their political affiliation, want what is best for America. I just think that we have very different ideas as to how to get there. As Americans, I would hope that we would all look to our Constitution for guidance. We have no other resource to understand what rules and laws our government and citizens are bound to uphold. If we follow it as intended by our country's founding fathers, we will survive this difficult and tumultuous time in our history. Trying to change our country to model it after other examples in the world is not the answer. Even the countries we seem to be trying to follow have abandoned the ideas and policies we are now trying, as a government, not a people, to adopt. I wish you well.

  7. Clearly, based upon the inflammatory comments against the One Nation Rally and the name calling of its participants- Beck supporters are still insisting upon spewing hate. How many of you were there? Oh, of course- not too many since you clearly point out that the numbers are lower than those of Beck’s August 29th rally. So, if you weren't there, how do you know what it was about? Main stream media? Surely you are intelligent enough to know that even MSM is biased- if you want to judge the event, then you should have attended and observed what it really was about. There may not have been as many people at the One Nation as were at Beck's rally- who cares? If Beck insists upon measuring his success by numbers, he must not be too confident in his convictions.
Obviously, those that choose to resort to name calling, make size comparisons & racist remarks, and trot out the old arguments about the dangers of communism and have no sense of our great nation's history and how hatred and division serve only to create fear and dissension- The very things that threaten to destroy us. The people who attended the One Nation Rally were of all different ages, military status, political parties, sexualities, races, ethnicities, professions, class, as well as economic and education levels. There were people who were there to protest the war, to show support for educational funding, to demand good, secure jobs that won't be outsourced, to demand policy for safe renewable energy, to support immigration reform, healthcare, civil rights, labor rights, and an overall sense of unification.
As for the comments about the Socialist groups, etc., the last I knew this was America and we all, regardless of whether we agree or not, have the right to speak up for our beliefs- the Rally was open to everyone to participate, not just those whose ideologies were pre-approved. If you cannot stand hearing the peaceful voices of others- you don't belong in a nation that values free speech and prosecutes hate speech.
As for the alleged trash left behind and flags thrown on the ground, there was not an extreme amount of trash, I did not see any flags on the ground or any other disgraceful behaviors. That is not to say that it couldn't have happened, but again- you cannot generalize based upon a few. Anytime there is a large gathering, be it the 2009 Inauguration, a concert, a festival, or any other function attended by large numbers of people, there are clean up issues and some whose behavior is less than we would hope. That does not change the purpose of the gathering, the pride of Americans, and the hope we have for our nation. One Nation was about unity, it was about hope, it was about diversity, and it was about our nation overcoming the polarization that has become so apparent in our country. So what if a good part of the crowd was of college age- if anything, that just goes to prove that we have a whole new generation of voters who believe in our nation's future and their political efficacy! The Founders drafted the Constitution with the idea that it would remain flexible enough to withstand the test of time- to adhere to strict Constitutionality is to deny progress, especially when the Constitution is so vague in so many areas. This is why we have the Supreme Court and why we have Constitutional scholars to examine the intentions of the Founders and interpret them to our modern needs.
Everyone needs to realize that if we do not unite to address America's problems, we won't need to fear terrorist attacks or wars in other lands, the hatred and animosity will tear us apart from within. Those that sling mud only do so to obscure the false rhetoric of their own argument- if you want to be taken seriously, learn to work together in a positive and productive manner. We must all look toward progress in the future, which was what the One Nation Rally was about!

  8. I just don't get it. Why has the size of the crowd become the most notable issue of the ralltes, rather than what was said and accomplished there?

  9. In response to Political&Proud, the mention of the attendance of both rallies is directly in response to the title of this internet article "One Nation Attendance Better Than Beck Rally?". As to free speech, this country does not yet prosecute hate speech. There is a case pending before the Supreme Court as we sit regarding the right of the Westboro Baptist Church regarding its demonstrations at the funerals of fallen soldiers. While I find their speech and actions reprehensible, their freedom to protest is absolutely protected by the Constitution, as long as they are protesting on public property. As to the Constitution, obviously the founding fathers realized that they couldn't address every situation in the original document, which is why we have amendments. It is not up to the Supreme Court to change the Constitution as they see fit. Adhering to the Constitution does not deny progress. It prevents regression by discouraging relying more and more on the federal government to provide entitlements to citizens (and non-citizens) which was not the original function of the federal government. It clearly sets out the role of the federal government in the Preamble and goes into further detail in the definition of roles in the 3 branches. State governments were to have a larger role, as they are more able to represent their citizens and their interests and needs.

Saying that people questioning the size of the crowd (again, the question posed by this article) is some type of hatred and name calling being spewed by Beck supporters is extreme. As to how do I know what it was about if I didn't attend, I watched it on CSPAN, the One Nation Working Together live stream on the internet and also MSNBC, who clearly had a dog in the hunt with Ed Schultz being both an employee and a speaker. I watched it twice on CSPAN. Did you watch it or attend? I personally thought their music selection was great. As to the trash left behind, there are many pictures and a few videos showing the refuse left behind. It bothers me because I don't litter and consider it especially distasteful to see people leaving litter on our national monuments. I have not engaged in name calling or mud slinging. Actions speak louder than words and those who attended or watched, saw the actions of both groups.

  10. Look at the shadow the trees are casting and you can see the 10/2 picture was taken in the mid to late afternoon. That puts the time-frame during the actual rally, not at 10:00 AM.

  11. I would love to see the photos that supposedly show a large crowd. If that is true, then why aren't they being displayed on every mainstream and Liberal media outlet out there? I'm not bashing. I would TRULY love to see them!!! I would think that you would then be proud to show them. This only proves to me that being a professor and a mom doesn't require you to be an intellectually honest person. You can be a ball faced liar and be accepted with open arms. I will use my freedom of choice here and say no thanks to anyone who can't even tell me the truth. Once again, if you can prove otherwise...please do!! But you and your progressive friends have only proven yourselves to be completely dillusional and full of crap!!!

  12. Someone posted why is the size of the crowd the important topic here, well it's because THEY LIED & SAID THEY HAD MORE THAN the Restoring Honor Rally

  13. I watched both on CSPAN and Becks was both larger and the visitors were more entergetic.

  14. Guess we all need to face it... SIZE DOES MATTER!

November 2nd, 2010 - Take Back America from the Socialistic, Communistic, Progressive March we are on!

I attended neither rally but but have to say, America cannot afford to continue down that path our CURRENT Government has us heading down... We cannot afford to BAIL Everyone out... Right now, we need to get back at our Constitution, and work on healing our Nation. It was our Constitution that gave us the ability to have these EVENT in our Nations Capitol. Some countries we would not have been allowed to do this at all!

We need to SHRINK Government and give everyone relief from it... We will ALL be happier in the long run!

  15. Clearly, Beck's is BIGGER... :)

  16. This inflammatory nonsense about "trash and AMERICAN FLAGS" strewn all over the ground REALLY galls me. I saw the photo from whence this faux controversy springs, and it is NOT an actual American flag! It's one of those political signs (you know, "Bush / Cheney 2004," that kind of thing) made of CARDBOARD, with an American Flag motif printed upon it. Oh, NO!! Find something REAL to get upset about!

And just WHO, exactly, was/is claiming that this rally had larger attendance numbers than Glenn Beck's? I certainly don't find any shame in smaller numbers; I've always known that there are far more yokels and lame-brains than intelligent people in the U.S. (So does the rest of the world!) Not that all right-wingers are stupid, mind you.-- Sadly, many are honest, misguided people who've been tricked into voting against their own economic interests.

  17. At what point in each rally were the pictures taken? That's really the key question here. Answer that one first and a comparison may follow. I have a guess.
