Alaska Senate Race 2010: Joe Miller vs Lisa Murkowski = Bush vs Gore?

Alaska Senate race 2010 is just gearing up, and Joe Miller vs Lisa Murkowski appears to look like it's going to be like Bush vs. Gore. Alaskan poll workers and the election commission are frustrated, as they must go through, by hand, all of the write-in ballots from the mid-term elections.

Joe Miller won over Lisa Murkowski in the Alaska GOP primaries. This was a major upset and showed that the Tea Party does have a lot of steam, and that Sarah Palin is quite influential on the right. Her endorsement of Miller over the incumbent was said to be the reason that he won in the primary election.

It will be interesting to see how the Alaska Senate race plays out. Joe Miller is going to want the law interpreted literally, with Lisa Murkowski's name spelled exact in order to count. Lisa Murkowski is going to want the case law interpretation, which is far more subjective and seems to favor the "intent" of the voter. How do you interpret that, though?

Alaska Senate Race 2010: AK's Election Goes to Ballot Counting. The 2010 Alaska Senate race continues as the ballots for the write in candidates must be examined and counted.  Lisa Murkowski, the GOP incumbent, lost during the primaries but still ran during the general election as a write-in candidate after not running as an independent. 


If the write-in candidate ballots aren't mainly for Lisa Murkowski, there's a chance that the Tea Party backed Joe Miller will head to the Senate. However, that's not for certain yet.  Still yet, many are banking on a Murkowski victory. 


The Alaska Senate race could get very ugly.  The election commission must look over each ballot which voted for a write-in candidate and determine if it is indeed Murkowski who was voted for.  The laws claim that the name must be written correctly, but the law has been interpreted as the "intent" of the voter - which is subjective. 


All eyes will be on the Alaska Senate race for some time.  What are your thoughts? Are you hoping Murkowski will be victorious?

Alaska Senate Race 2010 Results. The 2010 Alaska senate race results won't be available for days ... perhaps even weeks. Why is that? In a very historic move, the Alaska Senate race was won by "write-in." However, whether or not a write-in candidate actually will serve in office depends on whether or not all of the votes were cast for the same candidate.

Lisa Murkowski is the supposed winner, although if she ties with Joe Miller there will need to be a runoff.

Miller beat Murkowski during the primaries, although recent scandals could have harmed Joe Miller's ability to make it to Washington. His nomination for the GOP candidacy made headlines as he beat out an incumbent.

The Alaska Senate race results are going to be historic, when they become available.

Alaska Senate Race 2010: a write-in wins Senate Race? Considering that the votes have been counted electronically, the Alaska Senate race 2010 has not been called yet.  Why not? The majority of the people in Alaska have voted for a write-in candidate. 


That means that all the ballots must head to the state's capital and be counted...by hand.  The "intent" of what the voter wrote in is somewhat subjective.  "Lisa Murkowski" is hard to spell, and if there are other "Lisa M's" and other similar looking names running for Alaska's senate seat, then well...there could be some big problems. 


Already, people are concerned about voter fraud in Alaska's Senate race.  The GOP is frustrated with Lisa Murkowski's insistence on running...had she not run for her Senate seat, then Joe Miller would have been a sure thing. 


Miller defeated Murkowski in the primaries after receiving the endorsement of former Governor Sarah Palin. However, Miller faced significant scandals and therefore could have lost critical votes to Murkowski when she announced she would run as a write-in,
