2012 Presidential Election: Potential GOP Candidates

2012 Presidential Election: Potential GOP Candidates. The 2010 midterm elections aren't all over in every jurisdiction, yet we're already looking towards further "changes" that could be coming in 2012. It's no secret that the GOP took the House of Representatives and made great gains in the Senate and across many state Gubernatorial races, but that may not be enough for those with a Republican agenda.

In 2012, the GOP & Tea Partiers will be out for blood. Now, there have been a few candidates that we've joked about running for president, including Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and Donald Trump. However, now it's time to take a look at true candidates who stand a chance at winning the election (calm down - Sarah Palin is on this list.)

We will discuss candidates in detail in separate posts. However, here are some names being thrown around as potential 2012 GOP contenders for the presidential election: Sarah Palin, Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Haley Barbour, and Ron Paul are among the many other names tossed around.

Preliminary CNN polls indicate that it's former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee that stands to win against President Obama in an election. Stay tuned as we update you with more information on the 2012 presidential election and hypothetical candidates on the GOP Ticket.

Clint Eastwood Obama Fan? Nope.

Clint Eastwood an Obama fan? Nope! The actor turned director has came out and said that Obama "seems like a nice guy" but that he's "not a fan." He went on to add that Obama was doing what he needed to do to stay in his job, but that he isn't governing.

Eastwood backed McCain during the 2008 Presidential election, although he's not a right winger. Clint Eastwood in the past has also backed Democrats, including Gary Davis who ran against Arnold Schwarzenegger in the California Gubernatorial race.

Other stars that don't support Obama include Kelsey Grammer who recently launched RightNetwork and Jon Voigt who speaks at Tea Party Rallies. However, for the most part Hollywood is very liberal. There are actually many more left wing activists than there are right wing when it comes to that industry.

What do you think about Clint Eastwood's comments about not being a fan of President Obama?

Stephen Broden: Violent Overthrow of Government On The Table?

Stephen Broden: Violent overthrow of government on the table? So who's Stephen Broden? Strangely enough the very person who claims that the government could be overthrown in a violent manner is actually running for public office.

Stephen Broden is a GOP candidate for Congress that is running in a Dallas Texas district. He's a minister with a history of saying controversial things, and the latest is that if there is no GOP takeover in November, then a violent overthrow of our current administration is on the table.

Broden claims that if the government doesn't work hard to protect our liberties, then we should remove them by any means necessary - and that could mean using violence to overthrow the government.

Of course, this could be a little over the top. However, many Americans are growing very tense over what is going on with our current adminstration. Do you agree or disagree with Stephen Broden's ideology?

Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin...up until two years ago, she was somewhat elusive, rather unheard of. Now, Sarah Palin is one of the most talked about characters in the GOP. Many think that she will run for president in 2012, although few think she will be successful in gaining the nomination - at least not in 2012.

The Tea Party loves Sarah Palin, and she's been the endorser of several key Tea Party candidate upsets. For instance, Joe Miller from Alaska, and Christine O'Donnell from Delaware.

Most recently, Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman, calling them her 'Mama Grizzlies', and despite her eager endorsements, neither Whitman or Fiorina were present at that particular venue.

Sarah Palin's Alaska will be a show on TLC soon, and is a simple reality miniseries. It will show us the personal side of Palin...but will that hurt or help her political ambitions?

See below for a video of Sarah Palin. What are your thoughts? Do you love her or not?

Sarah Palin California Rally: "Soon We'll All Be Dancing"

Sarah Palin told a California GOP rally that "soon we'll all be dancing." As we enter the final two weeks before the November 2 mid-term 2010 elections, both the GOP and the Democrats will be fighting hard to ensure that voters make it to the polls.

The mid-term election is met with about as much bravado as a presidential election year. The Democratic lead in the House and Senate is in jeopardy as an anti-incumbent sentiment has swept over Americans.

Perhaps one of the most vocal Republican voices is that of Sarah Palin. She's skyrocketed out of nowhere to become one of the most well known political figures. Before the election two years ago, she was an obscurity. A seemingly unknown governor. Now, she's a GOP rock star.

Despite her popularity, there are mixed feelings about a presidential bid by Sarah Palin.

Chris Christie Straw Poll Virginia Tech Tea Party Patriots

Chris Christie won the straw poll at the Virginia Tech tea Party patriots convention this weekend, beating out Tea Party sweetheart Sarah Palin. Christie was followed by Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, and Jim DeMint for this poll.

Christie has previously said that he's not running for President, and that he wants to sort out New Jersey before he moves on. However, politicians typically don't announce they are running until they are 100% certain they want to head out to the election.

Absent from the top of this straw poll is Mitt Romney. Romney has long been cited as a GOP hopeful for the 2012 bid, after losing the nomination in 2008 to John McCain.

Christie is Charismatic and down to earth. Perhaps that's why he's the Straw Poll Virginia Tech Tea party patriots winner.

Don't Ask Don't Tell 2010 Court Injunction DADT

The 2010 Don't Ask Don't Tell policy vote was brought to the floor before the Senate left to campaigm, and there were not enough votes to end or avoid GOP filibuster of the legislation. Don't Ask Don't Tell and the DREAM Act were two highly controversial items that were buried in the Defense Spending Bill.

The GOP is not against repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell. In fact, many agree it's the right thing to do. However, the measure is buried inside a huge bill, and the Republicans want a chance to review the bill, propose amendments, and discuss and debate before it goes to a vote.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine indicated her stance on the matter, and basically she said she's for repealing Bill Clinton's 1993 executive order. However, in good faith she can't just sign off on a bill when she doesn't think a fair, unbiased bipartisanship was followed.

Don't Ask Don't Tell doesn't allow gays to serve openly in the military. However, there's great news now as the Don't Ask Don't tell ban has been lifted after a judge signed an order.  This ends the 17 year old highly questionable DADT bill.

Rich Iott Nazi Reenactment Creates Criticism

Rich Iott's Nazi reenactment is creating criticism, and that doesn't come at a big surprise. After all, Nazi reenactment isn't exactly something you would think a politician would be doing. However, GOP candidate Rich Iott's past is rife with such actions, and as such he's even been disowned by his own party.

Rich Iott is a GOP candidate in Ohio running against incumbent Congresswoman Maria Kaptur. He says that he has a love for history, and therefore reenacted Nazi SS soldiers for an organization called Wiking.

Wiking says that they do not support Nazi principles.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor has removed Iott's names from the party's "Young Guns 2010" section for this year's campaign.

So which is worse...dabbling in witchcraft or Rich Iott's Nazi reenactment?

Mitt Romney: Sarah Palin "Re-Energized" GOP [VIDEO]

Mitt Romney says that Sarah Palin "Re-Energized" the GOP. It's hard to believe that Meghan McCain is for "Team Romney" but really doesn't seem to like Sarah Palin - but then the former Massachusetts governor is pro-Palin.

Romney says that the former Alaskan governor is a fresh face that helped start the Tea Party movement, and that she also helped inspire a lot of women politicians. He said "We have a lot of women candidates running for office. When John McCain sat down and probably put down a list of who are some of the leading women in the Republican Party he could select as a VP, it was probably not a real long list and that's going to be different."

Whether or not the former VP hopeful will make a run for president in 2012 has yet to be seen, but she seems to be on the GOP short list along with Romney, Chris Christie, and Newt Gingrich.

Palin has been a force within the Tea Party and the GOP. Although she's made some different decisions, she still remains front and center in the media. Love her or hate her, Sarah Palin has changed the face of the GOP - but tell us what you think is that good or bad?

Sarah Palin 2012 Candidate for Presidency? SarahPac Releases "Ad"

Sarah Palin 2012 is a hot search term, and after the Glenn Beck rally there were lots of rumors of a Beck/Palin ballot in 2012. Beck has "no desire" to be President, although Sarah Palin has been coy when asked if she will run for President.

SarahPac, a Political Action Committee has released an ad, and although it is not a campaign ad, it has the appearance of one. Could 2012 be the year of true change, where the people start to rule the government, not the other way around? That's what the ad below seems to suggest.

Sarah Palin has gone from a political no-body to a superstar with a bestselling book and a daughter on Dancing with the Stars in less than two years. Although Meghan McCain had her doubts about Palin, she's been able to leap over any obstacle and stay on top.

Currently, Sarah Palin is #4 on the list for favored candidates for the GOP ticket. If it came down to Palin and Barack Hussein Obama, who would you choose in 2012?

Pledge to America 2010 Another Empty Promise? [Full Text]

The 2010 Pledge to America has surfaced from the GOP. The "Pledge to America" is being compared to the 1994 "Contract to America" and as such is getting criticisms. The Republican party is promising to make changes, including ending the outrageous spending patterns of Congress and lowering taxes.

The Contract to America was deemed a failure, as it was unable to overcome a Clinton Veto. The Pledge to America is more economics than values based, and is a summary of what the GOP will do if they return to power after the mid-term elections.

Among the promises in the 21 page document are promises to repeal the healthcare reform, replacing it with "common sense" solutions, returning spending to "pre bailout" and "pre stimulus" eras, and also continuing the Bush tax cuts.

The Pledge to America is criticized by the Democratic party. This is not unexpected. They claim that the GOP fails to mention that the promised cost cutting will be "painful" and that extending the Bush tax cuts will cost the economy trillions over the next 10 years.

Will the Pledge to America be followed? I guess that we will find that out after the 2010 mid-term elections. What are your thoughts?

DREAM Act 2010 56-43 Avoids Cloture: GOP Filibuster Begins

DREAM Act 2010 56-43 vote avoids cloture, and yet another GOP filibuster has been started. The GOP filibustered the unemployment extension earlier this year, and the DREAM Act is just another bill that will face stiff opposition. In addition to the DREAM Act, the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" military law was not repealed, despite massive support from pretty much both democrats and republicans.

The DREAM Act allows illegal immigrants to get a green card, provided they either get a college degree or serve 2 years in the military. In addition to these requirements, the illegal aliens must have entered the country while they were minors.

Many who oppose the bill don't want taxpayer dollars going to help illegal immigrants further their education. Those who support the bill note that they are not ultimately responsible for their situation in life, as their parents are the ones who really brought them in to the country.

So what do you think? Do you think that the DREAM act should be passed, or do you think its language should be struck from the Defense bill it is contained in?
