Harry Reid Victory Speech

Harry Reid was able to deliver a victory speech. This was great news for the Democrats, and especially the White House. Obama and his wife, Michelle, spent the last couple days hitting the campaign trail and Harry Reid was one of the main races that they wanted to see won.

During his victory speech, Reid said that Americans in Nevada chose "hope" over "fear." He also claimed the state would move forwards instead of backwards...typical political speak if you ask me.

Reid also gave props to the opposition, saying it's not "us" vs "them" it's every Nevadan together working together.

All in all, this was one victory speech that many Democrats were fearful wouldn't take place. Below see a video about Harry Reid delivering his victory speech.

Harry Reid Election Results 2010 [NV]

Harry Reid election results 2010 are in, and the Tea Party sweetheart Sharron Angle was unable to defeat Harry Reid. The Senate Majority leader will return to the Senate, which is expected to remain BLUE.

Sharron Angle was seen by many as a little too "out there" and didn't even support long term unemployment, despite her state having the largest unemployment rate in the nation.

Harry Reid, however, wasn't expected to win the race going in to it because he's not well loved in his state. He's seen by many as a "rubber stamp" to the President's agenda, although when the Senate reconvenes in January it will be a very different mood, and it won't be as easy for the Senate to go along with the president's agenda without challenging him on issues that aren't popular with the American people.

It will be interesting to see what role Harry Reid will play in the repeal of Healthcare, which is something that many Americans want on the agenda. However, Reid played an integral part of the passage, and he might have to flip flop to keep his constituents happy.

What do you think of the Harry Reid Election results 2010?

[SENATE] Harry Reid Election Results 2010

[SENATE] Harry Reid Election Results 2010. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid held on to his job in th US Senate by the skin of his teeth, defeating the "face of the Tea Party" Sharron Angle. Going in to the election, she was expected to stage a narrow victory against the long term incumbent.

His son, Rory, lost his bid to become the governor of Nevada.

The fact that Harry Reid held on to his job is good news for the White House, who put considerable resources in to campaigning for the Majority Leader. Reid isn't well loved by the people of Nevada, but he's been viewed as the lesser of two evils. In a state where there's the highest unemployment in the nation, Sharron Angle is against long term unemployment extensions.

Had Reid lost, it would have been a slap in the face to Obama and Michelle Obama, both whom campaigned for him leading up to yesterday's election.

Obama Reid SNL Skit

Obama, Reid SNL Skit was hilarious.  In the weeks leading up to the mid-term elections, it comes as no surprise that SNL would take to poke fun at various politicians.  However, Obama and Reid seemed to be an unlikely pair, with others such as Sarah Palin and Christine O'Donnell out there.

However, that was thrown out the window.  In the skit we see the dynamics of politics and how sometimes people within the same party try to avoid each other.

People in Las Vegas aren't too fond of President Obama, and therefore Harry Reid in the skit was trying to distance himself from the President.

He even went as far as to say that he'd tell the president one thing and do another if it benefitted Nevada.

To me, this is also similar to how Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman try to distance themselves from Sarah Palin.

Reid Angle Debate Details

Reid Angle Debate details. Senate majority leader Harry Reid and his GOP opponent during the 2010 mid-term elections, Sharron Angle, had their first and only debate. Many are curious who "won" the debate, that is who performed better and is more likely to have a favorable outcome from the polls as a result of the issues discussed at the debate.

In a historically blue state, people are starting to see red. It's not because Harry Reid isn't a good politician. He's a career politician who has mastered the inside game, but is horrible at his public relations skills.

Many politicos who are typically on the left hated to say that Sharron Angle handled herself quite well. She passed the "I'm Not Crazy Test" and many people that were hoping that while Christine O'Donnell appears to be the "nice" witch, that Angle - another Tea Party backed candidate, would appear like the wicked witch of the west.

Still yet, the race isn't over. Angle has spoken out against unemployment extensions even though she's running for the Senate seat with the state with the highest unemployment rate in the land. She's got some radical ideas, and has said controversial things. Still yet, independents and swing voters could be swayed by her approachable persona and it's sharp contrast to Harry Reid's awkwardness.

Below is a video of the Reid Angle debate. What are your thoughts?

Kirsten Gillibrand A "Hottie" According to Harry Reid

Kirsten Gillibrand a "Hottie"? That's what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says. With everything going on in Congress right now, I find it hard to believe how many Senators and Senate hopefuls are putting their foots in their mouths. For instance, Christine O'Donnell recently was ousted by Bill Maher after claiming to have "dabbled in witchcraft" during an unaired segment of "Politically Incorrect" which was filmed in 1999.

Maher wants O'Donnell - who he said he created - to come on his show. He's releasing a clip a week until she does.

In the meantime, Jesse Jackson Jr is dealing with more fallout from the Obama Senate seat scandal and Rod Blagojevich's subsequent investigation and prosecution.

Now, Senator Harry Reid - who wasn't even able to get the DREAM Act or Don't Ask Don't Tell repealed - made the ultimate goof-up yet - calling Senator Kirsten Gillibrand the "hottest member" of congress.

Of course, the comment has been blown out of proportion according to Gillibrand and Reid's people. He went on to compliment her non-physical attributes, such as her extensive knowledge of securities laws.

Still yet, it makes for a good story, and a good distraction from the chaos on Capital Hill. I find it humorous that Harry Reid called Kirsten Gillibrand the "hottest member" of Congress...how about you?

Before 2010 Midterm Elections, Pelosi and Reid Want Middle Class Tax Cut Votes

Before the 2010 mid-term elections, speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid want to bring a vote about Middle Class Tax Cuts to the floor of the House and Senate. This could be their move to bring some anti-incumbent sentiment to the GOP instead of mainly the Democrats.

Many voters are tired of the decisions that current leaders, in particular those in the Obama administration, are making. In particular, people grew angry over the passage of the controversial Healthcare legislation. Public options, loss of insurance coverage, limitations of insurance coverage, and forcing Americans to get coverage are all things that angered constituents.

The Bush Tax Cuts are set to expire, and the Democrats hope that this is their golden opportunity to turn voters away from the GOP. Many Republican leaders want to extend the tax cuts despite looming deficits and despite many provisions benefitting the wealthiest of Americans.

The Democrats are hoping to "make known" those who oppose simply passing middle class tax cuts without extending all of Bush's tax cut package. Sneaky move, but then again this is American politics.
