Rally To Restore Sanity Attendance

Rally To Restore Sanity Attendance. The Jon Stewart Rally to Restore Sanity attendance is somewhere between 150,000 to 250,000 according to various reports surfacing. CBS says that the attendance is pegged at around 215,000 - although the Restoring Honor rally held in August was claimed to have about 87,000 participants.

The Rally To Restore Sanity/March to Keep Fear Alive were created by Comedy central TV show hosts Stephen Colbert an Jon Stewart. The two have become unlikely political figures over the past couple of years in the midst of various scandals and high profile news events.

For instance, Stephen Colbert testified before Congress for illegal immigration debates. Jon Stewart was thrust in the limelight when Rick Sanchez was fired after calling Stewart a bigot.

Jon Stewart even calle the president "dude" before the mid-term elections when Obama showed up on his "The Daily Show" while filming in DC.

What are your thoughts on the Rally to Restore Sanity attendance?

Jon Stewart's Rally To Restore Sanity Attendance Estimates 2010

Jon Stewart's Rally To Restore Sanity Attendance Estimates 2010. Yesterday's "Rally to Restore Sanity" drew a big crowd, and the size of the crowd is still up for discussion. CBS, the same news organization that pegged the Glenn Beck rally at 87,000 pegged the "Rally to Restore Sanity" estimates around 215,000.

The crowd size of 215,000 sound reasonable, considering that there won't ever be exact and official figures on such estimates.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert held the rally on 10/30, which is a date of "no significance whatsoever." The weekend for the venue was also the weekend before the mid-term elections, and the hope is that people will now become inspired to vote.

Rally to Restore Sanity attendance estimates range from 150,000 to 250,000 with CBS coming in at 215,000. What are your thoughts? More or less people?

Rally To Restore Sanity: Famous Faces At Event

The "Rally To Restore Sanity" wasn't just popular with the main street people. In addition, several stars were at the "Rally to Restore Sanity" as well. For instance, Ozzy Osbourne was there and performed his song "Crazy Train."

John Legend performed along with "The Roots." This took place during the pre-show leading up to the main rally.

In addition to John Legend, there was also Ozzy Osbourne who sang his hit "Crazy Train." Sheryl Crow was a musical guest as was Mavis Staples. Tony Bennett was there and offered a rendition of America the Beautiful, after singing the same song at the World Series earlier this week.

There were plenty of famous faces at the Rally to Restore Sanity. It was a great day, and one that will be remembered for some time.

See Jon Stewart Call President Obama 'Dude'

Jon Stewart called President Obama "Dude"! During an appearance on The Daily Show, a serious Obama was featured on a comedy show, and as such the result was naturally one where discussion ensued.

Jon Stewart Called President Obama "Dude."

Ever since the days of George Washington, our President has been referred to as "Mr President."

Does Jon Stewart calling the president "dude" indicate a lack of respect, or does it just represent how casual our attitude in general has become to authority?

After all, I don't doubt that Jon Stewart respects the President. I think he respects any president - even ones he doesn't agree with. However, overall Americans have had an increased irreverence for authority.

What do you think about Jon Stewart calling Obama "dude"?

Jon Stewart Rally To Restore Sanity iPhone App

Going to the Jon Stewart Rally to Restore Sanity? There's an app for that! The Stewart/Colbert dueling rallies actually have their very own iPhone/iPad application. So what does this politically motivated piece of mobile software do?

The official iTunes site says "The official Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert-approved app of the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear.

Download it before you board the sanity bus and/or fear wagon to D.C. Features include a map of the Rally site, links to Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare, a portal to upload photos to the official Rally photostream and an exclusive welcome message from Jon and Stephen themselves!"

Pretty awesome, isn't it? Not only is the application great for those attending the rally, but it's also great for all those at home who will be following the rally from home.

Jon Stewart Rally Update & Obama on The Daily Show

Jon Stewart rally update & Obama on "The Daily Show." You see, Jon Stewart has had a good few weeks. He was catapulted into the limelight for creating the "Restoring Sanity" rally this weekend. In addition, he was further catapulted into the spotlight when Rick Sanchez called him a bigot, and then went on an anti-Jew rant. (Stewart - yeah, he's Jewish.)

This weekend, Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert are two unlikely political advocates, as they are hosting the Restoring Sanity and March to Keep Fear Alive rallies at the National Mall in DC.

In addition to the recent fame, Stewart is getting another slam-dunk as Obama is going to be on the Daily Show. The Daily Show is broadcasting from DC in preparation from the Rally, and Obama will be on the show tomorrow night at 11:00 EDT.

Below see a video of the Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert rallies and their impact on DC.

Rally To Restore Sanity Countdown Begins

The Rally to Restore Sanity countdown begins. Next weekend will be the Rally to Restore Sanity at our nation's capital. Hosted by Comedy Central TV personalities Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, the rally is slated to be even bigger than the rally to restore honor hosted by Glenn Beck.

While Jon Stewart is behind the Rally to Restore Sanity, Colbert is behind the March to Keep Fear Alive. The two dueling rallies are a parody of the 8/28 events of Glenn Beck and Reverend Al Sharpton.

Some aren't happy at all with the decision to host this rally the weekend before voters head to the polls. Several liberal activists who would have otherwise hit the streets getting people to vote are going to head instead to the rally, which could potentially impact liberal voter turnout.

However the two rallies are bound to be a success. I'm looking forward to reporting more next week on the Rally to Restore Sanity. Below see a video clip about this rally.

Yonni Barrios A Chilean Miner Rescued Mistress vs Marta Salinas

Yonni Barrios A Chilean Miner Rescued Mistress vs Marta Salinas - The Chilean Mine rescue love triangle. Jon Stewart mocks the Chile miner rescue on his popular "The Daily Show." You have to admit that over the course of the last 24 to 48 hours, the media frenzy surrounding the Chilean miner rescue has bee a big hyperbole. The over-exaggeration was full of live streams, and even soap-operatic renditions of the 33 miners' life.

Did you know that one of the miners had a wife AND a girlfriend? At that they both showed up at the rescue site? This is a life detail we could do without, although you need to add drama to an otherwise mundane story to peak interest.

In addition to the love triangle, there were fights over who would be last, thus capturing a line in the 2011 Guinness Book of record.

All the miners have been safely rescued. Below is a video chronicling the love triangle felt by one of the rescued Chile miners. The dramatic tale added the soap opera twist that we Americans demand with our news.

Rick Sanchez Fired After Jon Stewart Bigot Claims

Rick Sanchez fired after Jon Stewart bigot claims. Former CNN news anchor Rick Sanchez was fired after calling Jon Stewart a "bigot" on a Sirius XM radio show. Those comments are likely something that the former CNN employee regrets.

Jon Stewart is Jewish. Not only did Rick Sanchez say that Jon Stewart was a bigot, he also said that the media is "ran by Jews."

Stewart received an apology from Rick Sanchez, according to Sanchez's wife. In a week, Sanchez has gone from "excited" about his prospects to wanting his old job back.

He admitted to having a "chip on his shoulder" described Jon Stewart as the "classiest guy" and admitted that his comments were offensive.

Considering that CNN hired Eliot Spitzer to take up the slack, I think Jon Stewart returning wouldn't be that bad an option.

Should Rick Sanchez, fired CNN correspondent get his job back after the Jon Stewart bigot comments?

Rick Sanchez Fired by CNN Advertises Jon Stewart Rally

Rick Sanchez fired by CNN advertises Jon Stewart's "Restoring Sanity" rally. One "Sirius" thing that Rick Sanchez said on an XM radio show is that Stewart is a "bigot." He also said that the media empire that is CNN is ran by Jews. Now, Rick Sanchez is unemployed and Jon Stewart is laughing.

Actually, the comments catapulted Jon Stewart's name even farther into the news. Chances are if you didn't know that Jon Stewart was hosting a rally on 10/30 at the National Mall, you did after you found out that Rick Sanchez was fired by CNN after calling him a bigot.

The Jon Stewart rally is a spoof of the Glenn Beck rally, although many in political circles claim that Stewart and his co-conspirator Stephen Colbert will still be able to deliver a serious message even if the rally is hosted by two comedians.

The Jon Stewart rally will be huge, and I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance was much, much larger than the Glenn Beck Rally.

If anything, Jon Stewart should THANK Rick Sanchez and CNN for giving him that much more free publicity for being fired from CNN.

Rick Sanchez Fired by CNN About Jon Stewart Comments

Rick Sanchez fired by CNN? After Jon Stewart Bigot comments, Sanchez was let go. Perhaps it wasn’t the anger he expressed towards one of America’s favorite political comedians, perhaps it’s the fact that he called out his network and said that it was ran by a bunch of Jews. That’s probably the kicker in this case.

Of course, Stewart will get the last laugh and he’s already taunted his nemesis. However, don’t be surprised if the former CNN newscaster heads out to Stewart’s show as a guest. I think he will have plenty of time on his hands.

The words were expressed during a Sirius Radio interview, and they lead to the ultimate dismissal of the former CNN correspondent. It’s an unfortunate thing for him, but he should know better than to express negative thoughts and racial slurs about other TV personalities and the entertainment industry in general.

This is only the latest in CNN firings. Lou Dobbs was let go several months back. Many thought he’d go to Fox, but so far that hasn’t happened. What about Rick Sanchez? After he was fired by CNN for Jon Stewart comments do you think he will head over to Fox? What are your thoughts on the situation?

Rick Sanchez Jon Stewart A Bigot Comment Causes CNN Firing

Rick Sanchez' Jon Stewart a Bigot comment causes CNN firing? Rick Sanchez, the CNN personality has been fired.  On a Sirius radio broadcast, Sanchez called Jon Stewart a Bigot.  Now, I have to give Jon Stewart props because he's a comedian and he still gives Glenn Beck respect where respect is due.  However, although Sanchez's statements may have been offensive to some do they really warrant getting fired?

In the Sirius radio address which lead to the dismissal of the CNN personality, he not only called Jon Stewart a Bigot, he also said that the media industry is ran by Jews.

Well you might say "so what" well, he meant it in a derogatory way.  There's no room in this world, particularly the liberal media, for racial slurs against any ethnic background.

Glenn Beck vs Jon Stewart click here.

Keith Olbermann from MSNBC is in his glory right now.  He even mocked his rival's termination.

It seems to me as if Rick didn't like that Jon Stewart oftentimes made fun of him on his comedy show.  Perhaps he didn't understand the Satirical nature of the show at hand.  Sanchez's rant about Stewart ultimately lead to his dismissal.

Needless to say the (former) CNN contributor won't be speaking at the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert rallies later this month...

Jon Stewart and Glenn Beck Rallies Similar? Stewart Says Yes

Jon Stewart and Glenn Beck rallies similar? According to Jon Stewart himself, that's the case.  While there are many Stewart/Colbert rally attendants who think that the comedians are poking fun of Glenn Beck and Al Sharpton for their 8/28 rallies - in all actuality they are just borrowing an idea that seemed to inspire America.

Jon Stewart expressed this by stating" It's not meant to ridicule activism or the Tea Party movement or religious people ... What I thought would be great is if Stephen could be my Al Sharpton, he's going to do a counter-rally."

In addition, Stewart was less compassionate about claims that his rally was started in order to overshadow today's "One Nation" rally.  He says TS to that one, folks.  He adds "We're not warriors in their cause. If they're upset, they should have thought of that the past couple of years, before they lost the momentum they had gained in 2008,"

Ironically, Jon Stewart is respectful of Glenn Beck and even claims to be similar to him.  On the other hand, the Union rally which will take place today - well, he doesn't feel the similarities with them.

What do you think of Jon Stewart saying that his rally and Glenn Beck's rally are similar?

Jon Stewart Rally Update Obama Endorses Colbert/Stewart Rallies Video

Jon Stewart’s “Restoring Sanity” rally is getting props from Obama. The Colbert/Stewart dueling rallies are held as an “answer” to the Glenn Beck rally that was held at the end of August. Although this isn’t an official political event (it’s hosted by 2 comedy central comedians, mind you) it’s definitely making waves in the political world.

Ironically, some liberals are against the rally as it will take people who would have otherwise hit the pavement getting the word out there to head to the polls and vote liberal during the weekend prior to the mid-term elections. However, the rally is expected to draw a great crowd and many are hoping that the comedians will mix entertainment with common-sense solutions.

In remarks about the media during a discussion about the economy in Richmond today, Obama slams both right and left wing media – the right for suggesting he wasn’t born in the US and the left for saying mean and nasty things about the right. However, he says he’s “amused” with the Jon Stewart/Colbert Rallies. He pointed out that 70 per cent of Americans are just looking out for their families, no matter what their political affiliations are. Below is a video of Obama speaking about the Jon Stewart Rally.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Rally Slogans Are Available

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's dueling rallies on 10/30 are gaining as much attention as Glenn Beck's restoring honor rally. The dueling rallies are "Restoring Sanity" and "March to Keep Fear Alive" are making those who are critical of the right wingers excited to finally get to make fun of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin.

What would a comic rally be without some great slogans? Citizen.org is already having people turn in their best rally slogans. Here are some of my favorites:

1) Sanity, Not Hannity!

2) Refudiate Truthiness!

3) Facts are not Reality

4) Keep your church off my state!

5) Colbert? I thought you said Cold Beer!

6) I have to pay for your wars. You have to pay for my roads.

7) Immigrants, Muslims, and Gays, Oh My!

8) Taking America Back from Americans

9) Jesus Practiced Free Healthcare

10) Sanity - It's Not Witchcraft!

Okay, now this of course is all done in good fun. You can head to the link above to Citizen.org and turn in your own slogan for the rally and read a whole list of all sorts of ideas. Public Citizen will then choose their favorite slogans and print them on signs that will be distributed at the Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert rallies.

Stephen Colbert Congress and Jon Stewert/Colbert Rallies

Stephen Colbert's congress testimony took place on Friday. In character, Stephen Colbert delivered to Congress his testimony about his one day as a migrant worker. He cracked jokes saying that soil is at ground level, and if we put a man on the moon we should figure out a way to make soil waist level.

He poked fun at the absurdity of the AgJobs bill, and how focusing on who is picking our food (American vs migrant worker) is like splitting hairs, especially when widespread immigration reform is not underway.

Still yet, although the comedian delivered what some people think is a farse and a travesty and waste of taxpayer money, others indicate that he had a powerful message.

Given that we are on the heels of the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert dueling rallies in Washington DC, all ears are on Colbert.

Will Stewart and Colbert use their humor and audience to send a message, or is the rally just going to be a big joke? The two are pushing for progressive causes, and so far Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin and their conservative views have been shown in a more serious light. If Americans want change, people like Stewart and Colbert can help, but they are going to have to have a mix of humor and seriousness in their message. You can view Stephen Colbert's congress testimony here.

[VIDEO] Jon Stewart Shows 'Pledge to America' Nothing New

Jon Stewart showed that the GOP's "Pledge to America" was nothing more than rehashed political jargon that never worked for the party. Stewart claims that while the Republican Party is touting the 21 document as a "new" policy for Washington, filled with "new" ideas and fresh faces, it's really nothing more than the same policies that the party has had for years.

Using video editing, in the video below Jon Stewart basically "proves" his thesis. Admittedly, House minority leader John Boehner even said that the party won't be any different than they have been.

Those against the GOP remind us that it was the Republicans failed agenda that brought us in to the worst recession since the great depression. Furthermore, voters rejected the Republican viewpoint just two years ago. What can the "Pledge to America" do to change Capital Hill?

You can read the entire text of the "Pledge to America" here.

What do you think? Do you agree with Jon Stewart, or do you think that the Pledge really is new?
