National Defense Authorization Act 2010 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' UPDATE

The National Defense Authorization Act 2010 and "Don't Ask Don't Tell" are two hot things on the agenda. While the lame duck session is nearing an end, there are many things that have yet to be resolved - such as the National Defense Authorization Act.

So what is the bill? It's the bill that keeps the government churning away. Without it, government spending on the military comes to a screetching halt.  That's why it's not really all that shocking that there could be some partisan back and forth as this particular bills failure to pass could be a really nasty thing.

Right now, there's a filibuster in the wings, which threatens the advancement of the bill.  President Obama has issued a statement revealing disappointment that the bill has not been passed yet.  For the last 48 years it has been passed, and without it - military families will be on the hook.

Everyone knows that the government won't leave the military hanging. However, this is a definite political gesture and game, and one that points out politics as usual.  President Obama has shown a willingness to compromise, giving in to some GOP demands in order to make headway in some of his desires.  He's been labeled a "sell-out" by the far left.

The filibuster is because a small group of senators oppose the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" which would end discrimination in the military dealing with sexual preferences. It's an executive order signed by Bill Clinton that meant that the openly gay could not serve in the military.

Maybe the National Defense Authorization Act 2010 will be able to pass before Congress Adjourns.

Funeral for Elizabeth Edwards Planned for Saturday

Elizabeth Edwards' funeral will be this Saturday in Raleigh North Carolina. Big crowds are expected at Elizabeth Edwards' funeral, which is public- although the burial is private. Many people are talking about the accomplishments of Edwards, who was known in recent years because of her husband's infidelities.

She and John Edwards, the former Senator and presidential hopeful, never divorced, but were estranged. John denied that a daughter born to Rielle Hunter named Quinn was his. However, paternity tests later revealed that the Senator who had two young children with his wife of many years was also the father of the young girl.

Now, many are wondering what will happen. Elizabeth Edwards died after a long battle with Cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer the day after the 2004 General elections. The cancer was reported to have went into remission, but returned.

Only days ago, friends of Elizabeth Edwards told the media that further medical treatment of her ailment was futile. As such, her days were expected to be numbered.

The accomplished attorney will be laid to rest next to her son, Wade who was killed in an accident when he was 16.

Thank you Elizabeth Edwards for your amazing life and accomplishments. If you plan on attending the funeral for Elizabeth Edwards this Saturday, let us know below.

Dream Act 2010 Debate Begins Tomorrow

Dream Act 2010 debate begins tomorrow. The Dream Act would allow illegal immigrants who came to the United States to become legal citizens if certain stipulations are met. First off, they must have came to the US before their 16th birthday. Second, they have to agree to either getting a college degree or serving in the military.

This is a highly controversial measure. Many don't want to legalize illegal immigrants, and want to tighten immigration reforms. The Dream Act would add another loophole to an already lacking system.

On the other hand, the Dream Act 2010 would fix a "social injustice" by allowing people who aren't really American and aren't really their native heritage become American. This side of the argument claims that it's only the lack of a "piece of paper" that makes these particular illegal immigrants illegal.

The measure is expected to be brought to vote as early as tomorrow. This is a highly controversial bill, and one that some argue is detrimental to the country. What are your thoughts on the 2010 Dream act?

Elizabeth Edwards Facebook Page Bears Final Facebook Message Before Death

Elizabeth Edwards' Facebook page bears a final Facebook message before her death at age 61 of cancer. Elizabeth Edwards took to Facebook yesterday, after some friends told the press that her cancer was too serious for further treatment.

Her final Facebook message reads:

“I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces -- my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope. These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined. The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that.”

Elizabeth Edwards suffered from Breast Cancer, and found a lump in her breast during the 2004 presidential election campaign. She was in support of her husband, who was running with John Kerry for the Democratic campaign against Bush 2's re-election. She was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer the day after the general election.

Edwards was sidelined later on when it was revealed that he not only had an affair, but also fathered a child out of wedlock. Edwards' little girl, Quinn, was born out of the affair between John Edwards and Rielle Hunter.

Rielle has not expressed any remorse for the affair. John Edwards' political career is over.

MORE ON THE JOHN EDWARDS SCANDAL, HERE.

Rest in peace, Elizabeth Edwards. The Facebook message she posted yesterday was a great final message, wasn't it?

FINALLY: Unemployment Extension 2010 - Almost Available, but No Tier 5 for 99ers

The unemployment extension 2010 is available, but still no tier 5 for the 99ers in sight. However, it's a good thing that the bipartisan agreement for an extension of both unemployment benefits and tax cuts is going to be passed as early as this week.

Still yet, it's vital to pass the extension, and the proposal will add an unbelievable 13 months to the amount of time the benefits are available. However, the move doesn't actually add time to the availability of benefits. That being said, 99 weeks is a lot better than 26 weeks.

The Democrats aren't very happy with Obama, mainly because the passage of the unemployment extension makes him required to break a campaign promise of raising taxes on wealthy Americans...

However, if it takes extending the Bush tax cuts to extend unemployment, that's a small price to pay.

However, there's no tier 5 for the 99ers in sight. However, it appears as if there's promise of an unemployment extension 2010 soon.

Could Julian Assange Arrested Conclude Wikileaks Debacle?

Could Julian Assange arrested conclude the Wikileaks debacle? The US, as well as many around the world are frustrated with Australian Julian Assange's insistence on leaking certain documents that have arguably caused a lot of worry to US officials, as well as our allies.

The founder of Wikileaks has been arrested on a warrant issued by Sweden, and was on Interpol's most wanted list.

Assange is accused of sexually assaulting two women in Sweden, and that's the charge he's being held on. He's currently in Britain, and will have a hearing on December 14 over whether or not he can be extradited to Sweden.

Previously, Assange claimed that he had an 'arsenal' of more information that he would leak on the site if he were arrested, or if his site, Wikileaks continued to have technical difficulties which many think are caused by hacks by countries who don't want Assange's information to get out there.

Now that Julian Assange is arrested, maybe at least for now the whole Wikileaks scandal will end. There's a reason some information is classified, and for matters of national security I think it's best if it's not out there for all the world - including our enemies, to see.

Celebrate Pearl Harbor Day 2010 - December 7 Military Quotes and Activities

Will You Celebrate Pearl Harbor Day 2010 today? Pearl Harbor Day is the fateful day when the United States was officially pulled in to World War II, not as an allied force but as a force waging their own war. The Japanese military attacked our Hawaiian military base at Pearl Harbor, and the events that unfolded was the biggest attack on US soil in history.

The Japanese, luckily for the US, did not successfully attack our aircraft carriers, and so our forces were still strong in the Pacific region. The events after the attacks at Pearl Harbor lead to our use of the A-Bombs in Japan. Since then, nuclear weapons have not been used.

It's a very important day, and it's a day that one should always remember. It's a historical event that changed the United States' history.

There are many ways to celebrate Pearl Harbor Day 2010. You can visit with a veteran, you can send a card to a veteran, and you can read up on the history of the day. In addition, you can also watch the film starring Ben Affleck titled "Pearl Harbor."

How are you going to celebrate Pearl Harbor Day 2010?

Kathy Griffin: Bristol Palin's Weight Joke Draws Boos from Military

Kathy Griffin struck out with the troops when she decided to poke fun at Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol Palin's weight. Griffin really didn't think it through whens he decided to make fun of Bristol Palin, noting that she's the "only" Dancing with the Stars Contest to ever GAIN weight while on the show.

Obviously, Griffin didn't do her research. If she would have, she would have noted that Bristol's older brother, Track, is in the military. Dissing a fellow member's family is a definite no-no. Especially a younger sister.

And all that being said, weight jokes are a low blow, even by anyone else's standards. Recently during a New Jersey gubernatorial election, the Democratic contender made jokes about the Republican candidates weight.

The Republican went on to win. He's Chris Christie. He's well loved, and some even say that he's the GOP member with the best chances of beating Barack Obama in a theoretical 2012 matchup.

Bristol Palin kept her comebacks short and sweet about the matter - saying that the crowd's response spoke big about the whole situation.

Below see Kathy Griffin Bristol Palin weight joke flop.

Could Unemployment Extension 2010 & Bush Tax Cut Compromise Hurt Obama?

Could the unemployment extension 2010 and the Bush Tax cut compromise hurt President Obama's quest to be re-elected in 2012? Although the unemployment extension will give him points with the long-term unemployed, getting the extensions passed involved breaking campaign promises.

President Obama vowed not to raise taxes on the middle class - those earning less than $250,000 per year - but he didn't vow to do the same for the wealthiest Americans. Obama wanted the tax cuts put into place by President Bush to expire for the wealthiest Americans.

However, the GOP and the Democratic government were at a stalemate. Would they increase taxes on the wealthy, and use that money to pay for the unemployment extension?

Such would make sense, but that's not going to happen.

And could actually bending on the tax cuts hurt Obama? After all, it's yet another broken campaign promise. However, if it was the only way to pass the unemployment extension, that's great news.

After all, the unemployment extension 2010 will extend the benefits for a full year! This means there's not going to be a need to worry a couple of months from now. Hopefully next year at this time, the job market will be better.

POLITICS: Unemployment Extension 2010 Benefits Bill Blocked, 99ers & Tier 5 Woes

The 2010 unemployment extension benefits bill was blocked, and so far the unemployment extension has not been passed. However, there's indications that the Republicans and Democrats will be able to come to a consensus on the Bush era tax cuts, and so the unemployment extension should be the next thing on the agenda.

If the benefits are not extended and soon, there will be massive lapses in benefits, amid the holiday season. This is not good news.

In the Senate, a bill was blocked yesterday even though Senator Barbara Boxer read letters from unemployed constituents.  The bill would have had to head back to the House, but the Senate hurdle is far greater.

The benefits bill would have extended unemployment for one year.  It would not have added a 5th tier of benefits for the "99ers", or those who have been out of work for 99 weeks or more.

The job market doesn't show any signs of uptick.  The national unemployment rate went up during the month of November to a seasonally adjusted 9.8% - flirting with double digit unemployments.

The unemployed will keep their eyes trained on the unemployment extension 2010 and its passage. Hopefully the lame duck session will not pass by without an extension of benefits.

Bush Tax Cuts Extension 2010 Concessions On the Way?

Will the Bush Tax Cuts extension 2010 concessions come? The Democrats may cave on the issue of the Bush era Tax cuts, according to several sources. The Democrats have previously stated that they would only vote to extend tax cuts for those families earning under $250,000. However, they may vote for a temporary extension of all cuts for all incomes.

In reality, the cuts aren't actually cutting taxes - they are keeping taxes the same. The whole issue is this - the government has overspent their means, and the expiration of tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans would bring in much needed money.

Even Warren Buffett claims that he should be paying more taxes.

However, with Congress at a stalemate some concessions will need to be made. The Bush Tax Cut extensions will likely be one of the concessions, as there's no way the GOP is going to vote to allow the extensions to expire for the wealthiest Americans.

We will keep you informed about the 2010 Bush Tax Cuts extensions

Israel Fire 2010 Containment and UPDATES

The 2010 Israel fire is a horrendous disaster. The wildfires in Israel are causing all sorts of problems, and to a certain extent I am personally worried that Israel's enemies will see just how much devastation the fires have caused.

Despite the disastrous events, the fire is showing signs that containment may be possible in the near future. Cautious optimism remains in the forefront of the situation at hand.

The fire has claimed more than 40 lives. To keep it from becoming even worse, there are international efforts to stop the fire. Australia joined the country in their quest to contain the fire.

However, Prime Minister Netanyahu has announced that further aircraft coming in to Israel are not necessary, as they hope to have the situation contained by this afternoon.

The US knows about forest fires all too well. Earlier this year there were horrific forest fires in Boulder Colorado. California succumbs to fires on an almost annual basis.

Even though there is optimism, the future still remains guarded. Anything can happen with these fires, but we're keeping our fingers crossed that the Israel Fire 2010 containment will take place today.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck - Did Sarah Palin 'Use' Her?

Elisabeth Hasselbeck feels "used" by Sarah Palin - at least according to a report by Popeater. This sounds a little odd, considering that Hasselbeck has been an advocate for Sarah Palin on Barbara Walter's oftentimes liberally slated "The View"

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a genuine person. Her political views are conservative, which gets her criticized by other View members such as Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.

During 2008, Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential candidate made an appearance on 'The View.' Elisabeth Hasselback was one of her proud supporters, and did everything she could to make the former Alaskan governor's quest to the White House successful. She even introduced Palin at political rallies

However, recently Palin slammed Obama for going on "The View."

On top of that, reports indicate that Palin won't even return Hasselbeck's calls.

Palin will, however, go camping with Kate Gosselin in Alaska. Hmm.

Is Sarah Palin alienating people that could help her politically? Do you think she's still the candidate she was presented as during 2008, or has she turned in to a 'typical politician?'

SATURDAY: Unemployment Extension 2010 Benefits Discussed Alongside Bush Tax Cuts

The 2010 unemployment extension benefits and the Bush era tax cuts are being discussed during a special Saturday session in Congress. The government is growing nearer and nearer to the end of the lame duck session, with very little accomplished. The Democrats and republicans are in a stalemate, which is rather disheartening considering that there are many things to accomplish before the new Congress convenes in January.

The Bush tax cuts expire at the end of 2010, and therefore taxes during the 2011 year will drastically increase across the board. The Democrats want to extend the cuts, but only for families above $250,000. The Republicans want ALL taxes increased, even for the wealthiest Americans.

However, the unemployment extension takes precedent - or at least it should. Consider this: couldn't Congress pass the extension, and then fund them using Bush Tax cut expirations for wealthy Americans? Of course, this is all too logical and that leads one to believe that it won't be part of a bipartisan compromise.

In the midst of the holiday season, millions of Americans are losing their unemployment benefits. This is not a good thing. Will the unemployment extension 2010 be situated by the end of the year? What about the Bush Tax Cuts?

Again: Unemployment Extension 2010, Benefits Ambiguous And Expired

Once again, the unemployment extension 2010 has expired, and continued benefits are ambiguous.  What does this mean? It means that there are millions of Americans who are going to be without their continued benefits.

This happened in May, and it was July before the benefits extension was passed.  This means that there were millions whose benefits lapsed, even though the benefits were retroactively restated.

Without swift actions, even if there are retroactive restatement of benefits there will still be numerous American families who  are left in limbo amid the holiday season.

This is troublesome, at best.

The Lame Duck session hasn't been very productive for Congress.  The Food Safety Bill was announced to be passed, only to be knocked back to the Senate for revisions.  The Bush era tax cuts are still in debate, and the Democrats and Republicans are at a stalemate on many issues. The House passed a tax bill that they knew wouldn't pass in the Senate - a move that Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell claims is pure political.

Speaker of the House elect John Boehner has also spoke out about the lame duck session, showing frustration on the right and the left.

If the government was a couple going through divorce, the rest of the country are the innocent children being negatively impacted by their decisions, living in uncertainty.

What are you going to do without the unemployment extension 2010 and benefits ambiguity?

UPDATE: Unemployment Extension 2010 Funding Found By Republican Senator?

The unemployment extension 2010 has been on the minds of many policy watchers, not just the unemployed. Funding the unemployment extension is the big question mark. The GOP doesn't want any additional federal spending without a corresponding increase in tax or cut in spending in other places.

So it's unlikely that it would be Scott Brown, the Massachusetts Senator that SHOCKED the world by being elected by the first red Senator in a traditionally blue state in many, many years would FIND money laying around in the government.

After all, we have billions upon billions of dollars of debt - we've got out of control spending, and Scott Brown has found what he calls "money in the couch cushion"

This is according to Fox News Live coverage...and of course sounds a little strange to me considering that less than 24 hours ago, major media was reporting that Scott Brown singlehandedly blocked the extension of benefits.

All finger pointing aside...when will the unemployment extension be passed? In essence, not fast enough.

Elizabeth Smart Case - Smart Storms Out of Trial (UPDATE)

Elizabeth Smart's case has been on the minds of many, ever since the Utah teen was found months after having been abducted at knifepoint. Smart was forced to live as the polygamous wife of Brian David Mitchell, who is currently undergoing trial.

Wanda Barzee, Mitchell's ex-wife was married to the man during the time Smart was in captivity. She, too, faced jail time for her involvement, and actually gave testimony against her ex husband.

Mitchell has acted odd during the entire ordeal, even going as far as to sing in the courtroom, which caused him to have to be excused from the room several times.

However, today it was Elizabeth Smart herself who stormed out of the trial. This happened as a defense witness, a psychiatrist, testified that the reason that Mitchell raped Smart repeatedly was to impregnate her.

The defense is trying to claim that Mitchell is mentally ill, and therefore can't be held criminally responsible for what happened.

Smart has come to the States from a mission trip in Paris in order to take part in the trial.

Hanukkah 2010 Calendar Available

A Hanukkah 2010 calendar is available, as it is the first day of Hanukkah 2010. December 1 marks the 5771 Chanukah on the Jewish Calendar ever, and notates the beginning of what is called the "Festival of Lights."

Although many focus on Christmas as the predominant holiday of the seasons, there are millions of Jewish families in the United States and around the world that celebrate "Eight Crazy Nights" of celebrations.

Here's a snapshot of the Hanukkah 2010 Calendar:

So what does Hanukkah celebrate? While Christmas is predominately viewed as a celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ, Hanukkah signifies the victory of the Maccabees over the Syrians in 165 BC and the rededication of the Temple.

No matter if you celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, the main focus of the season is on family and togetherness. It's also a time to revel in religious freedom, and enjoy beautiful lights, whether they are from a menorah or a Christmas tree.

World AIDS Day 2010: Could A Cure to AIDS and HIV Be Near?

Today is World AIDS day 2010, and it's not really a day of celebration around the world, rather a day of awareness. So how is it that on World AIDS Day 2010 can you educate the masses, which at times appear to be a little apathetic?

Simply put, you can die a "digital death" to signify your desire to spread awareness of World AIDS Day.

Imagine this - Certain celebrities have millions of followers. Many celebs use Twitter multiple times a day, whether it's to plug a product or correspond with the masses. Imagine wondering to yourself "hey ... why hasn't Kim K Twittered today?" You find out about World AIDS Day and actually learn something.

Some AIDS trivia is as follows: The CDC reports the first AIDS case in 1959 in Congo. In 1983, it was revealed that HIV was the virus that causes AIDS. Approximately 1 in 22 African Americans will be diagnosed with HIV/AIDS at some point in their lifetime.

As late as November 23 it has been revealed that Truvada might be one drug that could potentially prevent HIV. There's still a long way to go to prove this, but if it's true this is rather earthshattering news.

World AIDS Day 2010 is important, but it's important to be aware of the illness that affects millions not only in our own country, but around the world as well.

TODAY: Hanukkah 2010, Unemployment Extension Expiration, & World AIDS Day

Today is a big day in world news.  First, it's the first day of Hanukkah 2010, it's the first day of the unemployment extension expiration, and it's also World AIDS Day.  Yes, my friends it's a really big day.

These are big times.  Of course, Hanukkah is the first holiday of the season, and it's celebrated by Jews all around the world - from the US, to Europe, to the Soviet Union - everywhere. In celebration of Hanukkah there's eight days of presents, and my favorite way to remember Hanukkah is of course to listen to Adam Sandler's song.

The unemployment extension expired last night, which means that as people exhaust their current tiers they will not be eligible for further benefits.  Many think that the whole debate over the benefits will somehow be resolved soon, but if that's the case I have yet to see any promising signs that the extension will be passed. This is disheartening to say the least. After all, this is the holiday season.

In addition, it's World AIDS Day. Stars like Kim Kardashian are living a "digital death" by turning off their social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness of the day. Actually, it did raise my awareness.  When I didn't get my hourly Kim Kardashian Twitter update I thought something was up.  A quick search on the Internet lead me to find out that it's World AIDS Day.

SO it's a big day in World News.  Stay tuned for further updates!

Sarah Palin, Wikileaks, & Twitter

Sarah Palin recently used Twitter to discuss Wikileaks. The Wikileaks leak is one of the most disturbing breaches in national security in a long time.  Palin took to Twitter to condemn the 'treasonous' act, which of course gained her a lot of scrutiny from her critics.

Here's a screen shot of Palin's Tweet about the deal:

Slog slammed Palin, stating that Julian Assange, the wacko behind Wikileaks is from Australia, and that Wikileaks is hosted in Sweden and therefore the Wikileaks document leak cannot be treasonous.  Why? Because in order to commit treason, it has to be an act by an American against America.

Well, actually the leak IS a treasonous act.  The leaked documents were given to Wikileaks by a US citizen, and therefore are really an act of Treason.  Never does the governor say that Julian Assange or Wikileaks is committing treason.

This is just another example of what Palin dubbs herself as "lame stream media" putting words in her mouth.  Most recently, she made a North Korea gaffe, which was blown out of proportion by major media.

Palin shot back on Facebook via her Thanksgiving address to the nation - and very classily so.

However, Sarah Palin makes a good point. Couldn't the US stop this? I mean...there's gotta be something they could do.  She makes a very valid point.  If she could quickly get an obscure blog to remove pages of her book from their site then why can't the US stop the Wikileaks leak?

EXPIRING: Unemployment Extension, 2010 Tier 5 for 99ers, & Obama's Salary Cut

The unemployment extension and tier 5 for 99ers is expiring today, and unless swift action is taken, over 2 million Americans will lose their income during the holiday season.  This happened before, in the spring - and it took weeks for those on Capital Hill to FINALLY pass an extension of unemployment benefits.

The problem is this - we are in the final weeks of the lame duck session.  This means that after Congress adjourns, then it will be the newly elected Congress that will need to pass the extension of unemployment benefits.

The problem with that is that the newly elected Congress is that they are dominated by members of the GOP - not surprising in its entirety because of criticisms of the current government, and the Obama Administration.  However, they aren't exactly for the unemployment extension - not because they don't want to help those without a job but because they want to curb government spending.

Obama has proposed ways to cut the budget - he's going to freeze civilian pay for federal government workers.  Of course, this move has to be approved by Congress.

I imagine that there will be a lot of upset federal workers, but they should be grateful to have jobs...with benefits...although I could understand that knowing that you aren't going to get your customary raise would be disconcerting, at best.

There are a lot of things to hammer out. However, the unemployment extension - no matter what the cost - should be of the utmost importance to legislators.

Christine O'Donnell for Dancing with the Stars?

Could Christine O'Donnell be on Dancing with the Stars? AOL's Popeater Blog seems to think so, and suggests that Tea Party GOP member Sarah Palin could be behind a push for ABC to cast the former Delaware senate hopeful.

Christine O'Donnell was so controversial, her primary win was so shocking and is believed to have been one shoe that fell that caused the GOP to lose the Senate.  The GOP did, however, gain control of the house during the 2010 mid-term elections.

O'Donnell is quirky, and is probably best known for her early 90's appearance at Bill Maher's show, in which she admitted to dabbling in witchcraft.

With Bristol Palin making it to the finale of Dancing with the Stars, a news story broke that Sarah Palin was lobbying to include O'Donnell in the next season.

Palin denies the story in her Thanksgiving message to her Facebook fans. She says 'And for that matter, why not just make up stories out of thin air – like the totally false hard news story which has run for three days now reporting that I lobbied the producers of “Dancing with the Stars” to cast a former Senate candidate on their show. That lie is further clear proof that the media completely makes things up without doing even rudimentary fact-checking.'

So there you have it.  Sarah Palin is not lobbying for Christine O'Donnell to be on Dancing with the Stars?

Obama Stitches Dominate White House Christmas Tree Delivery Discussions

Obama stitches were what everyone was talking about, instead of the delivery of the official White House Christmas tree to Michelle Obama.

The press caught a glimpse of the commander in chief from a White House window while waiting for Michelle Obama to be given the official Christmas Tree.

The whole thing was an "accidental" elbow jab to the lip.  One can't help but wonder how the president is going to hide his injury - of course, he can't. The injury took place during a friendly B-Ball game at a Washington military facility.

Rey Decerega has been outed as the person who was responsible for the injuries.  He's a member of the Hispanic Caucus.

The president is an avid lover of basketball, and has even attended professional and college games while in office. Medical staff at the White House sewed up his injuries in a way that would make the scars less visible, according to ABC News.

Of course, there are injuries in any sport. It's not all that uncommon for someone to bust a lip playing basketball.  It could have been worse. He could have gotten a black eye, broke his nose, or pulled a muscle in his knee.

However, I imagine he's going to get a lot of chuckles walking around with 12 Obama stitches in his lip!

Politics: Unemployment Extension, 99ers Tier 5 2010 Continues To Be Elusive

The unemployment extension and 99ers' Tier 5 movement remains to be elusive, as the holiday season is in full steam.  If the unemployment extension is not passed during the lame duck session, over 2 million Americans will experience a lapse in benefits over the holiday season.

The current emergency federal benefits will expire on November 30, 2010 - which is only three short days from now.  Back in the spring, the extension of benefits was delayed and as such there was a big cluster when it came to getting everyone their benefits.

The current proposal which was put to a "fast track" vote in Congress would have extended benefits until February 28, 2010.  This is a short extension, but it would have at least gotten Americans through the holiday season.  The "Fast track" rules of legislation call for a 2/3 majority in order to pass the house, but that did not transpire.

Still, passing the house still faces an uphill battle in the Senate.

The unemployed are keeping their fingers crossed that the extension of benefits will be involved in a deal cut with the GOP. Perhaps if the GOP is given the Bush Tax Cuts, they will give back the unemployment extension in return.

Sarah Palin North Korea Gaffe A Simple Misstatement, Not Consipracy

Sarah Palin's North Korea Gaffe was an innocent slip of the tongue, although the 'lame stream media' as the former Governor calls it has made it a bigger deal than it really is.  Sarah Palin's North Korea gaffe is being used by the left to illustrate some form of "incompetence", which with all due respect does not exist.

One reason I love Palin is that she doesn't stand idly by and allow people to step all over her.  She took to her social networking sites to speak out about the gaffe, pointing out 10 gaffes from our President.

She's not trying to belittle him, or say that he's incompetent - only that all politicians regardless of party are guilty of such slips of the tongue.

So what was Sarah Palin's gaffe? During a brief radio interview with Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin inadvertently called North Korea our allies. However, if you listen to the ENTIRE interview, you will see that she had it correct all along.

In short, her slip was taken out of context.  The former Alaskan Governor KNOWS that North Korea is NOT our allies.

You can read Sarah Palin's hilarious Thanksgiving address to her readers, here.

In case you didn't hear the ENTIRE Sarah Palin North Korea gaffe, you can view it below.  It was a slip of the tongue.

Immigration: Dream Act Continues Discussion During 2010 Lame Duck

The Dream Act is one of the most talked about measures during the lame duck session of Congress. The Dream Act would provide a 6 year conditional path to citizenship for those illegal immigrants who were brought to the US by their parents before they were 16 years of age.  In order to qualify, an illegal immigrant will have to either obtain a college degree or serve two years in the military.

The basic premise is that the move would help fix a social injustice.  The people who qualify for the amnesty are those who did not choose to be illegal immigrants.  In essence, as illegal immigrants these are people without a country.  All their lifelong friends are from the US, and they know no body - and perhaps don't even speak the language - of their motherland.  In addition, by adding people with degrees to the country, it will help us advance.

On the other hand, some say that this measure might cause more harm than good.  If you are a parent, ask yourself this: would you go to a country illegally if you thought your child would get a chance for a better life? I doubt there are any parents out there who would say no. Parents will do anything for their young.

So is the Dream Act going to pass - and is it necessary for our country? Weigh in and debate with us in our comment section.

Holidays: Unemployment Extension Benefits 2010 Expire, Tier 5 & 99ers Worry

The unemployment extension and the 2010 benefits expire in five short days.  The hopes for a tier 5 for the 99ers grows more and more uncertain as we grow closer to the end of the lame duck session.  The Bush Tax Cuts and the Dream Act remain more important to the GOP and the Democrats during their last chance to push bills through the house before the GOP takes over.

Today is Thanksgiving Day, and there are many moms and dads out there who are preparing a modest meal, watching holiday shows on TV, and trying to act as normal as possible so as not to ruin the holidays for their young children.  While the kids aren't around, they are trying to figure out how they are going to purchase toys and presents

A couple of weeks ago, Congress tried to "fast track" extending the current emergency federal benefits, with no avail.  The measure failed to get a 2/3 majority required, but even if it would have it would have faced an uphill battle in the Senate.

The GOP wants to ensure that any measure is paid for by spending cuts or increased taxes. They also don't want to push through any measures that the Democrats are passionate about, unless there's some deal with the Bush Tax Cuts.

Of course, the ideal situation would be this.  The Democrats would say "ok" to the GOPs desires to keep the Bush Tax Cuts in place, and in turn the GOP would extend unemployment benefits for at least six more months.

Will that happen? It's hard to say.  However, in five short days the 2010 unemployment extension will expire, and it won't be just the 99ers who need a Tier 5 who will be struggling for answers.

Sarah Palin Book Tour 2010 Dates Avoid Certain Cities

Sarah Palin's 2010 Book Tour dates avoid certain cities that one would normally include in a book tour. Palin will not be touring in New York, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, or other liberal meccas of our country. Instead, the Palin book tour will focus on more conservative areas - namely the south and southwest.

Her book tour kicked off in Phoenix, Arizona where her 2008 election running mate John McCain calls home. People lined up as early as 1 am to get in line to have the chance to meet the former VP hopeful in person and have her sign a book - and the event didn't transpire until 7:00 PM.

Some of Palin's book tour is along the path less traveled. She will head to a Dillons Marketplace in Andover, Kansas a Sam's Club in Little Rock, AR, a Costco in Brentwood, TN (Nashville Suburb), and Columbia South Carolina.

Of course, she's going where the grassroots movements are the largest. She's going where her supporters outnumber her foes. Isn't that smart, though? I mean...I'd hate to go to a book signing only to have people tell me how much they don't like me. I'd rather go where I'm loved, too.

The graphic, below will illustrate the entire book tour dates for Sarah Palin. If you have gone to one of her signings, we would love to hear from you.

Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars 2010 3rd Place Finale

Bristol Palin's Dancing with the Stars 2010 finish was in 3rd place, behind Kyle Massey and the champion Jennifer Grey.  Many feared that Palin would win Dancing with the Stars 2010, considering that she was able to successfully navigate in to the finale.

On the bottom two with Brandy last week, the country watched in awe as it was Brandy and not Bristol who was sent home.  We got to see Brandy dance one last time last night during the special 2 hour finale.

Now, everyone is looking forward to the next season and who ABC will be able to put in to the lineup.  Skating with the Stars has started, and it feels a bit dull and there are no political personalities in the lineup.

Next season, I would love to see Todd Palin or even Meghan McCain join the crew.  Chris Christie would also make a great contestant once he's out of office, and if he doesn't run for President.  Maybe one day we will also get to see Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, or perhaps even Megyn Kelly.

I'm proud of Bristol's 3rd place finish. I'm proud of her for making it in to the season finale.  Jennifer Grey winning Dancing with the Stars 2010 isn't a shocker at all to me.  After all, everyone knew it would happen from the time she danced her first dance.

Bristol Palin's Dancing with the Stars 2010 finale 3rd place finish shows that there was no massive tea party conspiracy to take over ABC's DWTS.

Will Bristol Palin Be Who Won Dancing With The Stars?

Will Bristol Palin wins Dancing with the Stars happen? Bristol Palin is one controversial Dancing with the stars contestant. She's made it to the season finale - something that in the beginning of this journey we didn't think would happen.

After all, she didn't have the skill of Brandy, Audrina, Kurt, or Rick - four shocking upsets that she helped to bring about with some serious voting clout.

So tonight people young and old, new to the Dancing scene and those who couldn't care less about the show are tuning in to find out one thing - will Bristol Palin win dancing with the stars?

What will the implications be if that is the case? Will ABC have to change up their voting system? Will there be an all out boycott of the show?

If Bristol Palin is who won Dancing with the Stars, I can't help but think that will happen.

Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars ABC DWTS

Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars ABC and DWTS are hot political topics today. Bristol Palin has been a polarizing contestant for the popular reality TV show. Last week, when she made it in to the semi-finals by beating out Brandy in the bottom two.

The conspiracy theories immediately ensued. Many of our reader comments pointed to many calls for a boycott of Dancing with the Stars.

The DWTS cast remaining includes Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey, and Bristol Palin. They are dancing for their judges ranking points, and will have an instant ChaChaChallenge.

Then, the mix of viewer votes will be added in to the mix - and we will find out our winner.

Will it be Bristol Palin? We are curious as well as you are. In all actuality, if she wins it will bring days of conspiracy theories and will bring a lot of talks of a right-wing conspiracy.

Stay tuned for more information on Bristol Palin Dancing with the Stars ABC DWTS.

Megyn Kelly GQ Photos - Fox News becomes Foxy News?

Megyn Kelly's GQ photos are understandably drawing a lot of attention. After all, Kelly recently announced her second pregnancy. She's the female face of Fox News and she's had her share of the rumor mill. It all started with rumors that she was somehow involved with Brit Hume, the patriarch of the network - the affair allegations have long been denied by both Megyn Kelly and Brit Hume.

Instead of hiding behind her sexiness, Megyn Kelly is flaunting it. Before she sported her baby bump, she posed for a GQ spread that will be featured in the December issue of GQ.

Of course, some out there think that it's inappropriate for a female anchor to pose for provocative photos - after all, you aren't going to catch Barbara Walters baring it all for any publication any time soon.

The photo of Megyn Kelly's GQ spread can be seen on this post. Is it too much, or just the right amount of sexiness?

Sarah Palin's Alaska Ratings Decrease

Sarah Palin's Alaska ratings decreased by nearly 50% during the second week of her reality show, which indicates that some of the buzz about her show has died down. However, there were likely millions who watched the first week because they had to - either or school, for work, to blog about, to critique - and more.

One Fox News affiliate anchor said that Palin's show was like "The Sound of Music" without the Nazis - or the music.

As far as reality TV shows go, Sarah Palin's show offers something that I haven't ever seen before - a seemingly normal American family just enjoying each other. They aren't a family of "little people", it's not a show about someone with multiple spouses, and it's not about someone who has given birth to a litter of children. It's refreshing to see a normal family interact. I don't expect excitement - just an educational hour escape from reality (after watching Kendra).

Although Sarah Palin's Alaska ratings decreased, viewership remains strong. Can't help but wonder how many will tune in to tonight's Dancing with the Stars finale!

Chris Christie For President? NJ Governor Popular GOP Choice

Chris Christie for president? Not too long ago, we never thought that the jubilant character would be the governor of New Jersey, and we surely wouldn't think that his name would be peppered into talks of who will lead the GOP ticket in 2012.

Christie certainly isn't popular with the democrats, or the labor unions. In fact, the president of the Bergen County Education Association sent out an email praying for his death - and the head of the Teacher's Union issued an official apology.

Christie invited her to the governor's mansion for a face-to-face apology, and his account of that indicates why he would be the perfect GOP candidate for the presidency.

Basically, the head of the teacher's union was worried that Christie was going to fire her - and he didn't give her a simple answer.

Chris Christie said that if it was his chief of staff that asked for prayers for her death, he'd have thousands of teachers lined up at the state capital calling for Christie to fire his chief of staff or to call for a formal resignation.

He claims they would have been too late. He would have already called for the resignation.

Of course, the head of the Labor Union said she wouldn't do the same - perhaps the apology was enough.

However, Chris Christie calls it like it is. He doesn't care if he's liked by everyone - and he does what he says he will.

Whether or not Chris Christie will run for president isn't yet known. However, the encounter I discussed above is available in the video below.

Sarah Palin Katie Couric Interview Controversy Continues

Sarah Palin's Katie Couric interview continues to draw controversy over two years after it aired. Katie Couric isn't exactly who you would call a Sarah Palin fan ... and the trainwreck of an interview in 2008 goes to show that.

On Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin had a very interesting hour long discussion about a variety of things, including her views on the press. When asked if she would ever have another interview with Katie Couric, Palin in a roundabout way said no.

However, the creator of this year's "word of the year" didn't simply utter a two letter word - that would be too easy. She went on to indicate that she has a communications degree, and understands the who, what, where, when, why, and how of journalism -and will have interviews with journalists who understand that basic American freedom.

She won't, however, waste her time with journalists who have strong biases against her, and will use whatever she says to create controversy.

Sharp words.

Of course, some say that Sarah Palin is being overly sensitive. the so-called "gotcha" moment is when Katie Couric asked which publications Sarah Palin reads to stay informed. Palin said "all of them" but Couric wanted specifics.

Honestly, if someone asked me what I read, I'd draw a blank too. However, I'm not grooming myself to be the next governor, vice president, or president.

Arguably, Fox News has had some aggressive interviews with Obama and other Democratic personalities.

Should Sarah Palin talk to Katie Couric again? The question should be - would Katie Couric want to do an interview with Palin?

Natalee Holloway Found? No. Jawbone Doesn't Belong To Missing Girl

Natalee Holloway found? If only that were the case.  Once again the Holloway family suffered what could be the biggest disappointment yet in the Natalee Holloway case.  A jawbone found by American tourists along a busy beach was promising, especially when preliminary tests suggested that it belonged to a female.

The promise was short lived.  In the Netherlands, further testing revealed that the bone is of unknown origin, as it does not belong to Natalee Holloway.

There are two theories on the missing girl's case.  One theory claims that Holloway was killed, or somehow died in the company of Joran Van Der Sloot.  This is the most accepted theory - and Van Der Sloot has been arrested for the murder of another young woman in Peru five years exactly to the date in which Holloway went missing.

The second theory is that Natalee, a beautiful blonde, was sold into the sex trade.  If that's the case, she could be dead - or could be living a nightmare.  Either case does not pose a rosy picture for the young girl or her family.

However, this is the most devastating blow yet.  The Holloway family needs closure, which is something they can't get from this situation.

Could "Don't Touch My Junk" Change TSA Screenings For Good?

"Don't Touch My Junk" is the famous phrase that many Americans are using during TSA screenings these days.  Many airports around the country have full body scanners in place.  Either because of radiation concerns, or because of fears that someone will look at you in an almost naked stance many Americans are bypassing the scanners in turn for a pat down...

Only the pat down could be construed as a semi-sexual assault.  This is what John Tyner, a 31 year old software engineer, noted and said to one TSA Agent - if you touch my junk, I will have you arrested.

There are people for the pat downs, claiming that they will help us identify potential security threats.  However, what it's identifying is a lot of embarrassing situations.  For instance, one flight attendant going through the security screening had to show her breast prothesis.  A man with a medical condition was soaked in his own urine when a TSA Agent broke the seal on the medical device that was collecting his urine.

In Israel, profiling is used in security.  Many say that profiling would be a great way to combat the TSA screenings today.  However, some say that profiling goes against rights in the US. Of course, others push back and argue that our rights are also violated by the invasive pat downs and body scanners.

So could "Don't touch my junk" change TSA screenings for good? Let's hope so. How to properly combat airport security, however, remains a big question mark.

Bristol Palin Dancing With The Stars 2010 Champion?

Dancing with the Stars 2010 concludes tonight, and Bristol Palin has been a real trooper.  Going in to the season, we thought Bristol Palin, the eldest of Sarah Palin's 3 daughters, would be eliminated within the first few weeks.  What has ensued is a huge controversy and that shouldn't at all surprise us all that much.

Sarah Palin is synonymous with the Tea Party crew. There's a conspiracy theory that somehow, the Tea Party wants to hijack the results of Dancing with the Stars 2010 and make sure that Palin is the winner, although she's far from the best dancer left.

Out of the three left, in all actuality if you go by fairness in the level of improvement and the level of prior experience, it's Kyle Massey who should win. He's not a professional dancer like Jennifer Grey and he doesn't have the political clout of Bristol Palin. Even though she's the underdog, she's obviously got something on her side working hard.

Palin's score last night was a 52/60.  Kyle Massey got a 56/60 and Jennifer Grey a perfect 60/60.  Therefore, once again, Palin was on the bottom of the group - but will she finish on top?

It's been a rough ride for Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars 2010, but it all ends tonight during the season finale.

DREAM Act 2010: Immigration Reform or Amnesty For Illegals

Is the Dream Act 2010 legitimate immigration reform, or does it constitute amnesty for illegals? That's the question about the measure, which was introduced first as part of the Defense Spending bill. The Dream Act is on the agenda for the Lame Duck session, and is strongly supported by Harry Reid, the Senate Majority leader.

Of course, the unemployment extension is also something that is needed at this time, as 2.5 million Americans will experience a lapse in their emergency federal unemployment benefits if it expires.

However, the DREAM Act is important to the Democrats, who want to push this immigration reform bill through the House before they lose their majority. Supporters claim that it is amnesty-driven. That is, that the DREAM Act fixes a brutal social injustice.

Others who are against the measure claim that it is Amnesty for illegals, and provides a loophole for people to illegally come to the US.

The DREAM Act would give a six year conditional path towards citizenship to any illegal immigrant brought to the US by their parents before the age of 16. The requirements of the citizenship track would include upholding the law, and getting a college degree or serving 2 years in the military.

So what is it? Is the Dream Act 2010 immigration reform - or amnesty for illegals?

Glenn Beck: Barbara Bush 'Oatmeal Box Lady'

Glenn Beck called Barbara Bush the "oatmeal box lady" in an unprecedented verbal assault against the former first lady and mother of our last president. Given that Beck is a conservative commentator and analyst and Barbara Bush is a republican it's awfully hard to believe.

What started the verbal tongue lashing? Well, Barbara Bush in an interview with Larry King said when asked about Sarah Palin that Palin is "Beautiful" but she hopes she "stays in Alaska." It's no secret that Palin may be testing out the waters for a 2012 run at the presidency, however she has yet to formally announce a candidacy.

Beck claims it's improper to comment on someone's looks, even when it's a compliment. Furthermore, he went on to say that Larry King makes "Barbara Bush look like she's 30", and went on to call Barbara Bush the "oatmeal box lady."

While Beck does make a lot of good points, it's this type of tirade - where he cuts down complimenting ones looks and turns around and chastises someone's looks - make him look like the nut so many people claim he is. He's got a lot of good ideas, a lot of good points - but they are clouded by his melodramatic commentary.

Beck then went on a tirade about how Bush 41 was a "progressive" - although the "progressives" detested his one term in office.

Perhaps anyone Beck doesn't particularly agree with is a progressive?

I still can't believe that Glenn Beck called Barbara Bush the "oatmeal box lady", though!

Unemployment Extension 2010 - 99ers, Tier 5 And Christmas

The unemployment extension 2010 is on the minds of many. The 99ers are going to have a difficult time this holiday season if the extensions are not passed. Back in the spring when the previous extensions expired, Congress dragged their feet and 2.5 million Americans experienced a lapse in benefits.

This time, it can happen again, and amid the holiday season. Last week, the "fast-track" for the House version of the emergency benefits failed in the House. Even if it would have passed, it would have faced an uphill battle in the Senate, where the GOP has threatened to block the measure.

Many of the unemployed are hoping that the Democrats and Republicans will be able to cut a deal with each other, trading the unemployment benefits extension for the extension of Bush era Tax Cuts. However, with the GOP's Pledge to America and the Democrats licking their wounds from the aftermath of the 2010 elections, that could be difficult.

In many respects, the economy requires the passage of the unemployment extension for the holiday season. The current proposal would extend benefits until February 28th - at which point it's questionable if any further action would be taken, considering the GOP's majority in both the House and the Senate.

Warren Buffett Doesn't Pay Enough Taxes? Bush Tax Cut Debates

Warren Buffett doesn't pay enough in taxes? The billionaire has an interesting argument AGAINST the Bush Tax Cuts. He claims that the wealthy in America don't pay enough in taxes, and haven't ever had it so good, an shouldn't have had it so good.

The controversial arguments against the Bush Tax Cut extension is coming from one of the wealthiest in America. He agrees with the Obama administration and thinks that the tax cuts shouldn't be extended...at least not to the nation's wealthiest.

The comments were made during an interview on ABC's "This Week" and Buffett even went on to say that in the past 10 years, giving the wealthy more money has done very little to stimulate the economy and that he hopes that the Government is catching on. You can see the interview, HERE.

Warren Buffett will be getting the Presidential Medal of Freedom early next year, which is the highest civilian honor that can be awarded by the government.

The Bush Tax cut standoff continues in Congress. The GOP wants to keep the Bush era cuts extended - especially in trying economic times. The Democrats want the wealthy to pay more of their fair share.

Of course, they could eradicate the entire issue and go to a flat tax. But that's another argument for another post. All I know is that the oracle of Omaha has spoken, and he wants to pay more taxes...

Sarah Palin Proud Of Bristol Palin On Dancing With The Stars [DWTS]

Sarah Palin Proud Of Bristol Palin On Dancing with the Stars. Sarah Palin is a proud Mama Grizzly as her eldest daughter, Bristol Palin, has danced her way in to the Dancing with the Stars finale. Of course, as with anything the family tries to do, it's shrouded in controversy.

Brandy has been neck-and-neck with Jennifer Grey all season. She delivered her first PERFECT performance, and yet she was eliminated during the semi finals.

She was on the bottom two with Bristol Palin. Everyone was SHOCKED when Tom Bergeron said that it was Brandy and not Bristol Palin that was sent home.

Immediately, political conspiracy theories started to circulate. Was it the tea party? Was the whole thing rigged by ABC?

Well, like a proud "Mama Grizzly" Sarah Palin has "campaigned" for her daughter, sending out Tweets and FaceBook messages to her millions of followers urging them to vote for Bristol -along with the text/phone number to do so. Therefore, there's likely people voting who probably don't even watch the show!

Sarah Palin is proud of her daughter -as she should be. She's come so far in the competition. Although I don't know if it would be appropriate given the current political climate for Bristol to win, finishing in the top 3 is amazing.

What are your thoughts on Sarah Palin and Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars?

DREAM Act 2010 Brought to Vote During 2010 Lame Duck Session

DREAM Act 2010 Brought to Vote During 2010 Lame Duck Session. The DREAM Act is a social measure that would extend the possibility of American citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants who came to the US as a result of their parent's choices. The measure, which is supported by Senate majority leader Harry Reid, is seen as a way to right a social injustice.

The DREAM Act 2010 would provide a 6 year conditional track to citizenship if illegal immigrants obtain a college degree OR serve 2 years in the US Military.

The impacted immigrants are children of illegal immigrants who have been raised in our school systems, yet cannot go to college or have opportunities because of their immigration status.

Similar to the unemployment extension, the DREAM Act 2010 isn't expected to pass once the GOP has the majority in the House. The bills opponents claim that the bill sends the wrong message and may actually increase illegal immigration as parents in poorer countries may come to the US hoping to give their children the chance at a better life.

Are you a DREAM Act supporter, or does the DREAM Act 2010 sound like a bad idea to you?

DENIED: Unemployment Extension, Tier 5, 99ers Benefits [2010]

DENIED: Unemployment Extension, Tier 5, 99ers Benefits 2010. In what has become a semi-standoff in the government, the unemployment extension was DENIED in the House. Even if the final 2010 unemployment extension measure did indeed pass in the House, it would have faced an uphill battle in the Senate.

The House of Representatives voted to extend the emergency unemployment extensions using the fast track, which would require a 2/3 majority for passage. The end vote was 258-154. The GOP stood strong and said that they would not pass a measure without corresponding budget cuts.

Americans watched as their dreams deflated. Over the holiday season, millions of Americans on the current emergency extensions will lose their benefits. As their benefits lapse, there will be a corresponding lapse in checks.

The failure of the passage of the unemployment extension in the House solidifies fears that a Tier 5 extension will never be passed. With the GOP taking over the House and having gains in the Senate, passing such a measure will be difficult.

In response to the GOP's failure to pass the unemployment extension, the House of Representatives Democrats announced they would stand firm and will not vote to extend Bush Tax Cuts to ALL Americans - only those making less than $250K per year.

What do you think of the denied unemployment extension, tier 5, and 99ers benefits 2010?
